FACT. Seriously , what the hell Microsoft?

06-01-2009, 10:45 AM
Nothing new, really.

06-01-2009, 11:04 AM
I wouldn't fully bet on that.

i love win7

i love win7

yeah exactly, It's a fantastic OS, especially considering it's still in testing stages. it's got the speed and stability of XP and the looks and feel of Vista. And the Driver support is top notch for an OS that's still a baby

well at least windows 7 is a step fowards instead of a full reverse like vista was. tho it doesnt affect me much. mac-user.

XP is my favorite but that's because I don't have any experience with Vista or Windows 7. I've heard good things about Windows 7 though (but its name is kind of bland >.>).

190 patches later, I don't really consider XP finished.

Vista was stillborn and I laughed. Then the US Govornment converted to vista from XP. Then I cried.

Until they give me a solid reason to convert from XP, I will remain unconvinced of any new OS' superiority.

Usin W7 since beta 7048 build, from an xp user. Im really liking it :)

mmm... troll.

i wouldn't really make any biased statements since i've used both os'es before.

i would suggest you try both before claiming something.

Besides the expected bugs and lack of 100% program compatibility expected from an OS still in it's testing stages, I've heard nothing but stellar things about Windows 7, which is far more than I can say for Vista.

Dunno... haven't tried the beta verion of Windows 7. Don't plan to do so anytime soon mainly because I'd rather stick with MS's OS that is already well established and reliable enough for my needs, which is the XP.

But from the looks of it, Win7 seems pretty promising so far. Or at least more promising than Vista to me, that's for sure. Still, I'd rather wait till it becomes more established after the release of its definite version to decide whether I'll use it. Until then, I'm sticking with XP.

Well, i'm using xp from years, and now that they just starting to make it working almost good :p, they change (as usual :P).

I also tried vista, if for that, and after some weeks of use (or better said, some weeks where i've tried to use it with scarce results, cause its limits and inabilities), i can judge vista one of the worse and bad done OS's ever made, maybe also worse than winME ..... messy, limited, locked, unclear, difficult to manage, and too much restricted in user actions freedom, not mentioning it's incompatible with half of the existing hardware.

Not yet tried win7, but can say you a thing: if it's like vista, then microsoft developement team can do a really big favour to all the world of pc users, committing a mass suicide, and i'm not joking :st:

Linux > Windows

Linux > Windows

Not until they emulate the DX library and allow me to play the games.
Games dictate OS choice. Otherwise I too would be rollin' redhat.

I have to wait how win7 would go smoothly...I'm ok with my XP running for 5 years and its been ok. Win7 looks promising though but I'm not touching till they make it better than vista and xp.

Well, after installing the RC version of it yesterday I can at least say Win7 Ultimate RC 7100 runs far better than this crappy Vista Home Premium I had due to buying a Dell PC.

06-05-2009, 01:48 AM
My Vista works better than my XP ever did. Havn't had a Windows 7 though.

windows 7 > windows *

After using windows xp home + pro, vista home business and ultimate and windows 7 beta+RC. I would get windows 7 the moment its available and replace my laptops and desktops thats running xp pro sp3 as my working environment.

Thus, I wont say xp is better. Windows 7 is by far the best MS OS I've seen.

XP is
- old
- 32 bit (screw 64-bit XP)
- doesn't support 4GB ram (can only use ~3.7GB at most)
- was not designed for multicore, M$ even had to release a few fixes to make it work properly
- runs unstable on my 1 year old laptop, random bluescreens and whatnot.

win7 RC is:
- rock stable
- backwards compatible to vista, all vista drivers worked like a charm for win7
- x64 version gives a nice performance boost if x64 programms are used (7zip for example)
- fixed a lot of errors XP and Vista had on my laptop, like the BSOD after sleep

Using Win 7 RC x64 atm, my main OS since win7 build 7000, never looked back to XP.
No incompatibilities or anything noticed, at least nothing that can't be solved with the good old compatibility setting. Except for one thing, some outdated antihack tools like phantasy star universe's gameguard crash on the 32-bit version, 64-bit works fine with a small workaround.

Linux is still too beginner unfriendly, you have to know the internals well or browse tons of threads to get a stubborn driver working. I'm laughing at my mates at the uni having troubles with linux but denying it.

XP is

Even Minus if you have VGA 1gb and 4gb RAM only detect 2.7Gb in WinXP(I try this before) VGA Memory will minus Current RAM. That Why Either use Vista 64bit or Win7RC 64bit(Waiting for removing Expired Date) if your OS want to detect 4Gb or more.
