Ky Kiske, because I like his moves and agility.
The characters I play are....
Ky: ONLY from X, because he still had his d, db, b + K laucher attack that they replaced in XX (Grrr...)
Sol: Because he's a little bit overpowered (think Ciel from Melty Blood)
Chipp: Because in the hands of a skilled fighter, Chipp is nearly unstoppable, what with the teleporting around and whatnot.
Baiken: you can play her defensively, just like...
Anji: If you're too cocky, Anji will zap half of your life meter before you know it.

Lots of Ky players here ... I love to fight Ky's ... hehe
I'm a Testament player.
Why? 'cuz he looks so damn cool. He doesn't suck, although he is slow and his moves not very useful nor damaging at first glance. You need to master the Exebeast FRC and Gravedigger loops to stand any chance of winning.
My game evolves around attacking (with the exebeast), Gravedigger loop, and countering. My Testament strategy is unique in that I don't play a "trap/turtle" game unless I've poisoned the enemy, then I'll start backing up and laying stuff.

i use jam, i like millia too, but she is kinda over power, 'couse all of her moves attack with stand power per hit and most of the hit a lot of times, sol could be cool too but he is really far over power, especially when he does the "dragon install" he is superpowerfull
Baiken rulez too, but i hated her in the first guilty gear, becouse i had such a hard time to get her.

I have played GGX and GG XX # Reload, and overall GG XX #Reload is my flat-out favorite fighting game.
Overall, my favorite fighter is the one that is my avatar (Ky). I don't like one of the move changes from X to XX which is the down downleft left+kick attack change. Actually I'm best with KY EX, but I've been practicing with normal Ky (since Ex doesn't seem tournament legal). Of course, I'm probably best with GOLD KY EX (but that is DEFINITELY NOT fair and tournament legal lol). Other than Ky, I like playing as Jam (she has evil kicks) and sometimes as Dizzy (although I'm not that great with Dizzy, even though she has a gamma ray and can eat through people's health with some pretty simple combos). Actually Dizzy is probably my favorite boss in a game at the moment :). Sadly, my only experience when it comes to playing with other people is basically hammering my friends who are pretty much newbies at the game (although it is sometimes fun to see two people button-mashing faust's moves trying to kill each other).
I think this game has one of the best soundtracks out of any game I have ever played. Probably my favorite soundtrack would be the one that was used in X, which was replaced in GGXX and was used when both players are using the same character (the name slips my mind right know).
I HATE GOLD SLAYER, he's a pain to kill, I have killed him before but he's so near impossible to kill. I mean come on, you give this guy increased damage (he can kill me in 2 hits, assuming that I don't block), increased health, better attacks, and make him faster, and then you'd have a pretty buffed up character. However, the game makers decided to give him a high life stealing % and constant health regen, mission 100 doesn't really compare to how hard this guy is.

Great game, even better music...I just LOVE the Guilty Gear series! Reload's my favourite at the moment. I'm only good with Ky. Don't want to learn anyone else's combos yet. So far, I like his Greed Sever the most because it's the most simplest move for me to start up an air combo. I'm hoping I can master the timing for his fK, fS, fK... combo. It's so hard, the timing is just insane!
Hard for me to play GG outside my own home, either at arcades or tournaments. It's very intimidating for me. Many guys at arcades will purposely challenge me thinking I can't play the game. WHY must you guys assume girls suck at fighting games!? Surely, my completion of 99 missions (mission 84 is the culprit >_<) proves I'm not that bad...right? T_T

baiken is my favorite character in the guilty gear series, I have a thing for girls with swords. she doesn't have a lot of variety in moves, just trying to bait the opponent and let it rip with a few bread & butter combos. maybe even throw in a dust loop or two.
and baiken isn't really hard to get in guilty gear, just abuse sol with his otg trap. once trapped noone can escape.
and how can one say that the story sucks in the guilty gear series??? it has more story and background than streetfighter, cvs2 and kof. the mystery of the gears, the hidden power of the japanese, the mystery of 'that man', the mystery of sol and his true power.

With Johnny, the trick is the usage of the coins.
A connected hit with Glitter Is Gold (Down to right Hardslash) to a Bacchus Sigh (Down to right punch?) followed by Mist Finer, is the key.
Glitter upgrades the amount of slashes done with Mist Finer, and Bacchus Sigh makes Mist Finer UNBLOCKABLE. =o

Baiken is a defensive character, so I can't really use her well, as I play on the offensive almost all the time (Its what I'm good at)
And err... "That Man" was the creator of the gears, Fredirick was the prototype gear, although it seems from his attitude it was against his will (aka Sol) the Japanese are wanted for their natural ability to use 'Ki'
I also read somewhere that Sols headband was made by him to prevent him from losing his human figure (*points at Justice*)

maohayato
12-30-2004, 09:04 PM
nah, the headband doesn't do a thing except mask his mark on his forehead. you can see it in his ending in guilty gear one, he takes it of and nothing happens. he just talks to justice, saying that he is the first gear and that justice is flawed.
I never heard sol could change shape!!??!! where did you get that from?
and for the johnny strategy, you need to master his mistcancel, with the mist cancel you get to shorten some frames allowing you to follow up with some moves. the coins are great, but you should concentrate on the damage per coin pay-off, sometimes its better to just land 1 or 2 coins, as 3 coins in a row is just a waste of time.
and baiken is not only defensive, most people think that baiken is defensive because half of her moves are counters, but it is possible to play baiken offensively. she has a great aerial slash, and her ground moves are relatively safe, and you can jump cancel a lot of her slashes and highslashes.
and isuka ost isn't as impressive as guilty gear xx or x

All gears have some ability to change shape.
Here are some examples from the game.
Dizzy's nails become extended claws while punching, Testament changes appearance into a skull during his throw. Along the same lines, Sol, being a gear, does change too. It's in their nature.

Why do you feel alone? I think there are lots of slayer players out there. I've seen more slayer players here than zappa players.
I use Dizzy as a primary character, with Ky and May as backups. Have been practicing a great deal with Eddie as we speak. I'm fairly nimble with Venom, too, but I personally don't think he's a very good character. "-_-
Who else here thinks that Potemkin is a lot like Maxima from KOF? My two cents.
chibi`rameesh
01-05-2005, 12:45 AM
well it depends who's playing and how good u r in the chara. ur playing with...
personally i prefare playing with venom...he really kick ass...especially if his combo's are chaind...no one gets a chance to stand up..i also like to play with millia rage and jam...rage really rocks...but i need to practice on her combo's some more >_>
but one chara. i fear is zappa...especially if the player using him is skilled....zappa is a killer!!!!! i never was able to play good in him...not my type of chara. but he's scary O_O
Venom is really good when you get to release his high power attacks, but I personally don't think there are enough ways to combo with him on the ground (usually ending with Double Head Morbid or Dark Angel overdrive for me). Launching four cue balls at once will do massive damage, but there is almost no chance for that, as lining up all four takes too much time... And even if you do succeed in it, your opponent will just block it in the distance.
Teleporting into a Red Hail overdrive makes a great surprise attack, though!
chibi`rameesh
01-05-2005, 01:05 AM
well the best thing about venom is his dark angel overdrive....i usually do that then rush with an air combo followd by land combo...etc...or summon the balls while the big ball moves...if i have enough time i'd launch them and do the air/ground combo...thats a killer^^

tough... i don't think so well if ur familiar with other fighting games.. it's just like them except the fact that u can air dash which is awesome!!!!! other than that it's kind of the same except the balance of the chars and all that blah blah stuff but u know what i mean right?!?
ya venom is good if u can errr frc the.. back+for hs ball i forgot what that's called but ya!! it leads 2 an awesome combo or.. awesome pressure string but ya.. i dont' think venom is that great is because he cant' play a great high low game unlike jam who can hit u with her 5k or dust which comes out i think pretty fast but ya i mean for venom players they don't really need to summon all 4 cue's to be deadly 2 is enough to be deadly already.
*a slight request... u guys wanna just talk in the other and more longer tread for guilty gear and keep that one alive ^_^ cuz that woudl be totally cool

Venom is good. I haven't experimented with his FRCs yet, but I think my GGX style of playing him can work in XX/#R. I believe venom can play a decent high low game and keep pressuring you you till you guard meter blinks. You just need to combo his qcb P after a successful sweep and you have a good set up already. If you have a hard time setting up the cue balls, combo it after a successful sweep.
Yeah, Pot is like maxima... though Pot has beter normals. But maxima has better specials IMO.

The thing about people hurting their left thumb playing fighting games... It's due to holding the d-pad incorrectly. Most people unfamiliar to 2D fighters actually press the d-pad using the ball of their thumb. This will require unnecessary amount of motion when performing commands and cause excess friction on the surface of your thumb.
Most people familiar with fighting games place the joint of their thumb over the center of the d-pad, 'tilting' the thumb rather than 'pressing' when entering commands. It may seem awkward at first, but this stance will enable much quicker command inputs, and will cause less wear on the thumb.
maohayato
01-07-2005, 11:06 AM
for newcomers to the fighting genre and using ps2 controllers, you can actually use the analog stick to input the moves, I personally don't use it that much. I am more used to the dpad since i began my fighting experience with fighters on the super famicom.
also some ps2 controllers are a bit off with their d-pad as in unresponsiveness of certain directions, so if you experience movement problems it doesn't have to be you.
and pain is a part of the process of learning to cope with a d-pad in fighting games.
too bad Zato-1 is taken over by Eddie, I wonder if he'll be back in a new GG game as Eddie needs a new host or he'll die.

Hmmm.....I'll say my favorite characters in Guilty Gear XX #Reload are the following:
Sol Badguy: Because of his overall priority over other characters in terms of cheapness, combos, and power (Try his over-the-shoulder grab near a corner and slam your opponent to the corner direction and do a Final Flame super (I call it the Gunlock) and when they bounce off the way, do another.......huge damage!!)
Ky Kieski: Same as Sol but also because of his wide range.
May: She annoys the hell out of people when you fly around the screen all day and just poke at people all the time.
Dizzy: Power and strategy fighting is good for her. Takes a while to getting used to.
Eddie (Zato-1): No special reason, I just love the fact the dude uses his shadow to fight (even if the shadow has taken over his body ~_~).
Those are basically my reasons for using those characters but I use Sol & Ky mostly because their more prown in tournament fights and that's where I like to show at with them. ^_^

If it's just the number of hits your looking for, with Justice you can get wayyy higher than that ... set the cpu to "jump", hit him with the (hcb, f+HS) super, then as he falls, keep doing (hcf,b,f +S) super (I think it's called imperial ray or something). If you do it fast enough I think 200-300 something hits, if I remember correctly.
It's ok to be cheap, it is training :p
It's called Gamma Ray (b,f,b,hcb+HS)... Imperial Ray is Dizzy's flame overdrive (hcb,f+S). Dizzy's full-bar overdrive is also called Gamma Ray (f,b,f,hcf+HS).
Justice's f+HS is way too devastating. It's strong, and she (yes, Justice is a female) have so many ways to follow it up.
If you want to try and see how long you can continue a combo in training, try using Zappa and sandwich your opponent with the dog. The longest I've done is 76, but I've seen a video with 300+ hits. :D

Okay, I need some advice from some more skilled gamers...
I'm really considering getting a joystick for Guilty Gear #Reload, but I don't know which kind to get. Is the round config for the stick better, or is the square one? I heard the square one is preferred in Japan, while the circle is more used in North America. Most of the arcades here use circle, but a few of my friends have suggested square. Aah, can't decide...too much thinking~! *starts pulling hair*

I like using Jam because, she's not difficult for me to use after figuring out how to use her power ups correctly. Next, would be millia, because she has a good air and ground game.

[FONT=Comic Sans MS]My favorite chars are Eddie and Testament. My best (in order) are: Venom, Eddie, Testament, and Slayer. Have venom hug the cornor and use his purple ball overdrive, 30+ hit, and works great against mulitples (GG:Isuka). Eddie just rocks against multies too. You can juggle 2 of Slayers overdrives with each other, the knock into air and then the punch, lots of dmg. And Tesstament is for cool factor and traps, he uses a Scythe, how sweet is that!? and he summons barney to attack people (hcb+Slash), uses poison in a fighting game, no other fighting games have status ailments, he just is

Its all about what you prefer. I prefer to play most fighters with an arcade stick. Though, some of my friends rather use a controller. If you want a stick.I would suggest you get the Fighter Stick EX or Real Arcade Pro(both by HORI. This one has convex buttons and has a Japanese stick. I also know that NUBY made a Street Fighter 15th Anniversary stick not too long ago(I had to get me one of those). There's some other pretty good sticks, but they're expensive.
I know this might be crazy to ask, but does anybody here have Guilty Gear X2 #Reload on XBOX w/Live by any chance?

GGXX on the PS2 was the GG game I played, and the reason I decided to get it was because I had seen a player in an arcade using Millia do her air to ground spinning moon attack. Not sure why, but I decided I had to try a game in which a character's hair could turn into a moon. I bought it used at a Gamestop and I've been a fan of the series ever since.
I started out using Baiken, but her defensive style of play was a bit hard to get used to in the context of the very offense oriented game, so I tried Zappa for the hell of it and he's since become my best character. I don't really care for Testament's character design, but his ability to put down Hitomi, those weird red webs, and the EXE-beast were really fun to play with, so I use him as well. The last character I picked up was I-No. I have no idea why.
I haven't played that much of Isuka, but it's certainly something different to get used to. Most of the people I've tried to play with don't like the change, but I got used to it before long. Unfortunately, I haven't had access to a PS2 for a while now so the last time I played GGXX with a friend just two days ago, I found my skills were sorely lacking.

i would say get used to the lane change and lane attacks.. those are really handy and change lane attack
to survive try to own the cornor, it is ur best friend, watch out from lane change sneak in form behinds
and get to know ur manual turn button like its second nature.
and this game isn't about rushing in and do mass combos unless you seriously want to die, play a poking game and dont' go pure offensive cause your not facing 1 character but 3 total.

I play most of the character(well at least finish the story mode)
The one i like is sol(for his violent),ky kiske(for his lightning action and easiness to handle),dizzy(for her cuteness),testament(for his coolness),slayer(for his coolness too) ,zappa(for all his action).
I prefer the image dizzy in GGX than reload .Though reload one feels much real ,the GGX one is cuter.
One thing i notice(perhaps you all should)the handle testament's scythe in char selection is not the same as he used in fighting .The wooden handle become a metal handle .Probably they are lazy to change/update it from GGX.^^
Zappa is quite insane in the sense that when you summon up the raijin, you basically had 16sec (i think) superpower ,which is quite satisfactory to abuse people/computer .
To StraySnake,it is true that this cute whale is very useful ,my friend usually died because of that (and 62 K if perform randomly). She is really a rare and not easy character to master .Maybe you should see more combo action for May if you still want to invest on her .There supposed to be a unlimited combo(well ,should takes down 1/3 of the life i think) involved with dolphin .I tried to learn them but eventually lost patient(well, what for to use her while i've used to others^^)
Recently tired of the game and try the EXgold mode .Really fantastic,i can kill with pleasure .haha^^

Every character has sets of possible Gatling Combos (they're called that because you can loop the sequence repeatedly), in which most of them involve chaining of normals. Also, it is impossible to infinitely combo with May's Mr. Dolphin. They can be consecutively chained into each other using frc (sounds simple, but extremely difficult), but no more once your tension guage is gone.

the standard gatlingcombo as described in the manual begins with a punch or kick. but this shouldn't be used if you go for damaging combos, the punch and kicks are weak attacks that when used in a combo string significantly lowers the damagetotal.
so if you want flashy long combostrings you can forget about the damage, otherwise forget regular gatlings and make combos with slash and highslash instead.

Hmm... yea, definitely true. It's not always a good idea to go for longer chains, especially if you plan to finish off the combo with a overdrive. Although usually longer the combo = more damage, additional hits actually reduce the overall effect in some cases (specials and overdrives inserted in the middle seem to do this the most). I guess the best thing to do is to try them out in training mode and see for yourself.

I once read a about a damageglitch in XX that works for jam. it consisted of a move+roman cancel+ super, it does more damage than a whole Baiken dustloop( well more than the 305 damage I got out of baiken anyway). Nice to try out in training mode. Too bad I forgot how to do it.

yeah.I normally prefer damage than hit number .When i see some of the fighting video,i see a lot of combo .But not damaging .Yeah,i see the one for may... is true that you can't combo infinity though it seems you can as the sequence followup is the same ....I don't really like this kind of combo .It gives me i feeling like cheating though it is still hard to do it .^^

ye, but i prefer a flashy combos, cause that is how i am.. i like to end with style haha but that is just me.. i almsot nvr use the overdrive i only use it for roman canceling and chain combos and roman cancel when i know i will get pwned after that move so i can get faster recovery. i only use overdrives when i know i can hit hard with it or when i am at really low life and i know it will hit other then that i usually will nvr throughit out

#reload is probably one of the most interesting fighting game i've ever played in a long time. Every single character in the game has their own uniqueness and can actually win in their own bizzare way. However that is not to say it should be considered the best fighting game ever -_-
The actually fighting game system in itself is broken to no end. (erm... No tech throws? No ground recovery? hello!) The throws have 0 frames startup and can throw people out of overdrives is really cheesy. Oh I'm going wake up tyrant rave and dizzy will throw me out of it...
Meanwhile the overdrive system is pretty well done as it reward people who play up close and personal (you get tension for walking forward =p) and punish the turtlers (negative penality). Plus burst is really helpful to gain tension or break from a long, damaging combo.
Overall it is a good game with innovative characters but it will never top capcom games.. haha Third Strike/CVS2 all the way!!

Man this game is addictive. Since I've got the game on Tuesday I can't stop playing it. Friday and Saturday I played for at least 8-10 hours. I really enjoy the uniqueness of the game. Even the same characters have different voices. The music is good too. What I don't like is that not all the characters have their own stages, so the kinda sucks. The overdrives are cool as well and easy to do for me since I use the thumbstick instead of the D-pad. I especially like Justice's Gamma Ray attack. Reminds me of Guyver's mega smasher.

Throws have priority over EVERYTHING on wake-up. It just teaches players to do something other than continuously attack a downed opponent.

im loving the Guilty Gear on Dreamcast, the game mechanics takes awhile to get used to though.
Chipp is my fave character, so fast and deadly, i like him alot.
Faust is so deadly, its not funny.. :S
I especially like Justice's Gamma Ray attack. Reminds me of Guyver's mega smasher.
Justice's Gamma Ray is not a very useful attack, unless you pull it out in zero-range (in which the opponent will be launched into air prior to firing) or use it to grind down a opponent who has very low health and no tension to perform a Faultless Defense. The move has so much delay built in, it is more than likely to be countereed if you're playing against a advanced player.
At least Dizzy's Gamma Ray can be used as a surprise counter attack, and won't lose all the tension when countered in the middle of the move (since it's considered as a two-step Overdrive).
I highly recommend to use her (yes, Justice is a female) other two Overdrives instead.
Justice is definitely not designed for a human player, though. She was the boss in the original GG, and was added as a bonus in GGXX. Testament, Baiken and Dizzy are former boss characters as well, but they were toned down in subsequent releases. Justice in XX, obviously was not.
Instead of getting caught up with Sol and Justice (2 cheapest characters in the game by far), I highly recommend you to explore and practice other characters. There are way too many Sol users already, and Justice is not allowed in any tourneys.
Tigerofthewind
02-14-2005, 04:33 PM
Ya i know that you can't use justice. She isn't all that great either. Not alot of specials and is mostly a melee combatant. Also it's pretty easy to beat justice once you know how. I'm trying to use Chipp in EX, SP mode. It's kinda hard because he's so fast in that mode. Sol I've got down easy. Actually, any character can be cheap if you use them right. I have a friend who's amazing with Venom and Dizzy. I can hardly touch him with Sol when I play against Dizzy.
But for Justice's attack, doesn't it have two points where it can hurl an opponent up into the air? I doubt I'll use it much since the controls for that move are complicated.
BTW: Does anyone know when Isuka is coming out for Xbox?
Dizzy's Gamma Ray has two phases, while Justices's Gamma Ray uses up the full tension bar at initial execution.
Tigerofthewind
02-15-2005, 06:02 PM
That's too bad. But if Justice's attack ever did hit, it would do incredible damage. A direct takes up at least 3/4 of life. The attack I think most people do is Imperial Ray, since it's fast and takes alot of damage and can be done at the end of a combination.
StraySnake
02-15-2005, 06:13 PM
There's the problem of actually connecting Gamma Ray. I mean in matches against real players. Don't expect a human opponent to stand there and block the attack--they're gonna come AFTER you. O_o;;
Tigerofthewind
02-15-2005, 06:24 PM
That's true, plust it's hard to do the attack after a combo since it's a tad complicated. But I think it'd work if your were far enough away. If your lucky I think it'd hit before they struck you.I don't know, I've haven't played against friends yet using Justice. The computers are stupid even on maniac so they either jump in the air or block.

I haven't played any GG games before (don't have a PS2 yet and I won't be able to get one before summer), but I've seen a lot of interesting things about it (http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~remy/flash/guiltygear.swf) and I really love the soundtracks ( I mean japanese metal in a fighting game? Never heard that before) .
Characters that interest me are Slayer (a vampire who recites Haiku?), Zappa (The Possesion seems to be kinda cool), Testament (although he looks like he escaped the rocky horror picture show) and Faust (for sheer weirdness).
As a huge JoJo ('s bizarre adventure) fan, I love weird/crazy/supernatural-fighting stuff.
By the way, anyone else think that Millias power was inspired by Yokaku "stand" from JoJo series 4? Her stand was (inside/made of) her hair and so she could use it to attack people or as a tool (see pic). Millia sure is more sexy though.
Other question:
I'm pretty good at 3D beat em ups (well "good", I mean Tekken series and Soul Calibur 2 have pretty cheap special moves and so), but I'm pretty bad when it comes to 2D (aka SNES games). Meaning: In games like Mortal Kombat 2 (I hate it, but it's a good example how bad I suck at 2D beatemups) and Killer Instinct (i lov e this one for its originality although its way above my level) I get owned big time by the computer on the normal difficulty setting cause I can't do a combo even if my life depends on it. And in classics like Streetfighter 2 Turbo I can only pull of the cheapest moves like Hondas 1000 fists (or whatever its called)/Chun Li's kick (don't know the actual name) and off course the cheapest of the cheap: HADOKEN.
So much for the background story of my failure.
Do you think it'll be wise to get Guilty Gear XX (for solo play?) Multiplayer is another story since i don't play it much (don't have much friends [who are into fighting games])
Do you think its easier to get into or will it end in a love-hate relationship like me and Killer Instinct?
maohayato
02-16-2005, 02:29 PM
to niheilist:
looking at your 2d fighting experience, I would say it would lead to a love-hate relationship. although some practice can fix that problem.
the characters are enough reason to play, as it isn't a regular line-up. GG also has a good background story, and all the characters have some weird or mysterious history. so definetely try it out. furthermore its a nice game to own.
a warning though, the AI may seem a bit tough at times but after a while they are easy.
I personally thought that GG was way too weird when I first started playing, but the more I played the more I ended up liking it. Now, KOF is more of a afterthought for me... I still love the series, but not nearly as much as GG.
GG just seem to have some innovative gameplay elements not found in other major 2D fighters.

Does anyone know anything about Raven? I've just seen him a bit during the story mode and am interested in knowing who is this character. Is it possible to fight him or is he just there like the Gearmaker for plot purposes?
Isuka was meant as a filler title to keep the fans interested before the next major release. Although there is a new character, A.B.A, the game itself doesn't add anything to the GG plotline.

Damn, and I never saw this thread before...
Okay, quick question. I don't know enough of the startegy to the game, so how should Axl go about pushing off a Sol rushdown once Sol gets into his own striking range?
Can you be more specific?
I'm not a Axl user myself, but if I was going to use him defensively against a abusive Sol, I'll try to utilize his counter traps as much as possible. Don't turtle too much, though, as Sol has one of the best special grabs in the game. If a veteran Sol user gets you with that, you're surely in for a good amount of damage afterwards.
Also, using his range to play the poke game is not a bad idea either.

']So, I'm gonna attempt to give this thread some direction ...
So who does everyone use??
And why?
(or if you don't play, but enjoy watching, whose your fav chara?)
I use Sol and Dizzy
Sol: I dunno. He's the one I used first when I rented GG Isuka, and he kinda grew on me. Plus, he's broken.
Dizzy: She's just too cute :p I can't resist (Oh, and her last Overdrive attack is rediculous, if you can actually charge up her tension gauge [sp?])
I also use Ky occasionally, but Dizzy and Sol are the main chars. for me.

I mainly use Baiken.
And dizzy's final overdrive(the one with the two beams, whats it called again, gammaray or something ugh I dunno anymore) is pretty useless. it uses up the whole tension bar(although if you get hit out of it, it only uses half) and the hits aren't guaranteed. nice move to watch but overall pretty useless.

Well, as I said, IF you get it charged up. In actual games, that rarely happens, but when it does, it hurts. A lot.
Baiken's not bad, it's just that I don't really use her often.
Gamma Ray is not a reliable attack. The move has too much load time on its own, and if you do manage to combo into it... it will do VERY LITTLE damage. It should only be used as a surprise counter attack very once in a while.
Use her tension for Arctic Impaler FRC and other two overdrives instead.

Ah well. It still looks cool, if nothing else. :P
I'll take your advice and try that out, though!

Generally using tension for RC's and FRC's is far more effective in terms to total damage that can be done for the same amount of tension, unless the opponent bursts out of the combo (thats where burst-baiting comes in) or you screw up your timing, thus unless one wanted quick, unavoidable damage, overdrives are less useful uses of tension than FRC's RC's and of course FD.
Edit:Oops forgot to mention the exception to this is Slayer's 2hit dandy :D
However unless you're name is Dr Koo i don't think it's something one would pull off in a match :p

I'm playing GGX at the moment, so I don't have access to Slayer. And as for the Roman Cancels/False Roman Cancels, they're something I need to work on.
Then again, a lot of times, I just go for an instant kill attack if things are looking grim. (One reason I prefer Sol over Dizzy most of the time)

Wow I disappear for a while and this thread is already 16 pages long.
Definitely work on Arctic Impaler FRC for your Dizzy. Be warned, it's quite hard. I could only do it less than half the time.
You did pick the 2 most powerful charas in the game, so i don't think you will have any trouble!
Instant kills are cool, and they're not for noobs only! I've been playing Reload for over a year now and I still love IK's. When you dizzy your opponent (when birds appear), do the IK and it's all over. Stylish, ne?

I hear you. My favorite way to pull one off (with Sol) is to use his Riot Stamp attack to buy some time, enter IK mode, and then rush the opponent and pray they don't block. :D I can usually pull it off about 40-50% of the time with no problems.
BTW, Arctic Impaler is the attack where Dizzy creates a large icicle under the opponent, right?
Correct. The window for performing the FRC is 2 frames following 10 frames after the damage is registered. To visually mark it, it's when the fog under the ice spire begin to disappear... But you just have to feel by instinct to get it right. It's one the most difficult FRC in the game to combo with in my opinion, but extremely cool and useful once you learn it.

Wow. I'll have to try that. Thanks again!
BTW: Straysnake: I LOVE the avatar. It reminds me of a cross between Sol Badguy and Osaka, from Azumanga Daioh!

Guilty Gear X does not have FRC. It only has RC.

Oops... forgot about that. I've been introduced to GG through XX, so it didn't even cross my mind.
Dizzy in GGX is pretty damn strong. She's not really designed for human use in that game.
EDIT: By the way, I'm not even sure if Arctic Impaler is a cancel-able move in GGX. FRC restriction is applied in GGXX and GGXX#R, but I don't know if GGX will even let you RC it.

Speaking of IKs, May gots the best one. Especially since she can set it up with a couple o' 6P.

In my opinion, well not actually the best fighting game. I should say 2nd best fighting game.:P
(Marvel vs Capcom 2 was I think the best)
Anyways, i loved this game. Very cool characters, especially Slayer. Anybody Slayer fan? :D
