It isnt' that much of an improvement over the previous ones. But the screen and the graphics the machine uses are simply beautiful! Its pretty cool you can also use your ps2 controller, but I didn't bother bringing it. Its still fun, but not worth the money :)

soul caliber 2 wasn't really a big improvement on soul caliber, they could have done alot better.
well when tekken 5 comes out for the PS2, I'll be getting a copy. need it to complement my collection.

making a beat em up better than soul calibur?
you underestimate the difficulty of this task. :D
one of my dreams is that they would make a game with soulcalibur engine, met guilty gear engine, and the 2 had a baby. with 32 characters. :D
cel shaded, lightning fast, with the feel and speed timing of GG, i.e. 'tighter' than SCII, but with more moves, and absurd moves, multiple character combos, massive finishes and did i say absurd characters??
nice dream, huh..
maybe Guu could be in it, and she could eat the opponent and have a dojo do 12 rounds on the enemy inside her stomach..
:)

ill need to buy tekken 5 too to complete my collection as well. XD i thought soul calibur 2 was a good improvement.
Tekken is cool, but I don't like the game's heavy emphasis on offense. I'll surely be checking out Tekken 5, though!

Tekken 5 is pretty good, it's pretty neat to have a tekken 5 card that keeps you're player fight record and you can buy weird accessories and change costume colours. But the best part is the arcade records your playing style and uses you as a "ghost" computer player. Pretty neat to watch "yourself" computer player beat people up. Saves you the trouble of having to beat them yourself ^_^

Orka what are you talking about hevay emphasis on offense? Out of all the fighters I've played it's more based on defense, it's one of the slower fighters out there. In DOA it would be all offense if the counter system wasn't in there. KOF lot more offense strats for it then tekken. SC, well I'm not really that good but I'm more aggressive in SC then tekken. So on and so forth. In fact I learned to play defense in tekken. I think T5 is one of the better tekkens to come out, I would play it whenever I get a chance but the closest T5 machine is pretty far away.

Played it got a card ($5 AAAARRGGGG) It's fun though even though it isn't a great improvement from 4. I play as King and I need like thirty more victories to get a mask...........yay. Also there's a character (sorry don't remember names) that's almost the exact replica of Jun (ahhh so nostalgic).

Namco decided to drop the online capabilities and go ahead and put Tekken 5 back to its original release date. It was slated to be released next month on the 15th but Namco pushed it back up to Feburary 26th. Rejoice Tekken fanatics for there are 2 versions you can get.
For those of you who just want the game and nothing else, you'll mostly cough up the usual $49.99 + tax but if your a hardcore Tekken fan and want the best of the best, you'll go for what Gamestop dubs "The Uber Tekken 5 Pack". It comes with a arcade-style controller, posters, and a box that holds all of the previous Tekken games released along with Tekken 5. If your into that kind of stuff, prepare to cough up $100.00 + tax.
Lets see just how uber you are if you plan to get that. Frankly, I'll just get the game and call it ends.

No, I was mentioning that Namco delayed its release date the first time to March cause they wanted to add Online play to the game but seeing how most people complained about it and said it isn't worthed it, they canned the idea and went back to the original release date.

Namco had a private opinion poll amongst the number of Namco sponsored arcades around the US. Employees of these arcade (mine being one of those arcades "Aladdin's Castle") would ask people who played Tekken 5 a lot about their opinions on what they like about Tekken 5 and what would they think about online play.
Im one of those who said "I don't care as long as I get to kickass and such" but if you want my honest opinion, I don't care for online play....not for this game at least. I get a better feeling out of knowing who the hell Im beating and brag on them all day.
By the way, I hope you guys reserved your copy at Gamestop cause if you did, you get a free "Art of Tekken" book for doing so. Got my copy right now.....damn, lookin back at Tekken 1 & 2 made me wonder what the hell I saw in those character designs back in those days. Oh well.

Im not really sure about it though but you might want to look up about the JP version of Tekken 5 because their version hasn't been released as of yet. Their's might have online play on it if that's your fancy but you might want to look that up first before anything.
I see the general reaction here is that its just standard (ill be getting it anyway, as a tekken fan) I've just got a couple of questions:
1)can you play as Jinpachi (I know you can fight him) but can you play as him in the arcades or on ps2?
2)Are there the 1,2 and 3 tekkens built into the game as seperate games?
3)Is there any tag options?
My fav fighting games:
1)Tekken series
2)DOA 1&2
3)Soul Calliber 1&2

i love this game

I borrowed it off my friend when he went home for spring break and couldn't fit his PS2 with the rest of his stuff. Played about 8 hours to unlock all the characters (spent 6 hours of that on the devil within game cause I died about 10 times on 4th stage boss). Now I'm trying to learn how to play Raven. I'd recommend it for almost anyone who likes fighting games. I'll be buying my copy pretty soon.

Am i the only one who saw the Tekken 5 logo on the WWE Backlash poster? it was in the background when edge "mr.money in the banks" was talking about how hes gonna whoop chris benoit's arse.

I like Asuka but for some reason I found Tekken 5 a little dissapointing. The character customization should have been better and what happened to the ability to save a fight to a memory card from Tekken 4? I liked that. Also the Devil Within Mode wasn't as fun as the Tekken Force mode.

Tekken 5 is the first tekken that i'm learning to play. I didn't want to learn the others because i found them a little slow to play (sorry but i'm more a soul edge player). But tekken 5 feels a lot faster and now that i have a great tekken tutor (sjumtje) I will play it till i have full control over all the characters.

Wasn't a big fan of Tekken 4, but I love Tekken 5. But it isn't so much new. And it didn't have so many locations to fight. That was better on Tekken 4.
But it's worth it, still a great game.
Tekken on PS3, now that is some great shit!

Yeah, I play Tekken 5. It's pretty cool, the characters I specialize in are: Feng Weng, Asuka Kazama, and Lee Chaolan...
Favorite stage is Moonlit Wilderness...

Yea, like Moonlit Wilderness also. I play vs my sister, she always picks poolside -_-
Specialize in: DJ, Jin and Kazuya. I knew all the tricks in Tekken 3. Played it all the time :P

I like the garden best. Because when you fall in the flowers a little angel goes up.
