On consoles: Japanese TRPGs - Final Fantasy Tactics/Advance, Front Mission, Stella Deus.. Super Robot War A on the GBA is my portable bliss.

And SHMUPS!

On PC: Anything with total immersiveness. Among the best: Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, Half Life 2 (at least on the 1st playthrough). PC genres are getting harder to define, and often that's a good thing.

I like RPG / Action, something like "Deus Ex: Invisible War." There are so many different ways to play, and you can ultimately decide your own ending and explore areas, which is always exciting.

Hmm... I like games from all but I'm poor so I don't have all that many games (Except classics like all of the King's Quest games lol.)

These are the ones I've played recently

RPG: Star Ocean 1+2 and Morrowind
RTS : Starcraft: Brood War, Stronghold: Crusader and of course, Dune 2 (j/k I actually own that game and have beaten it though; on the last map I had about 5-6 palaces all with fremen, GO FREMEN!)
FPS: Star Trek Elite Force 2, Battlefield 1984
Fighting: Guilty Gear XX #Reload (my most played game ATM)
Other: Sakura Taisen

Oops, sorry, my favorite genre in general would have to be........RPGs! computer RPGs! I like the customization that is usually not found in such a great degree in consol rpgs, and well, as to why it is my favorite, its so close that I just can't really come up with any clear reasons, except that I like good storylines :).

I like a bit of everything, my favorite game was an RPG but I'm not really a big RPG fan

Maybe I'm getting old so I don't play a lot of games nowadays ^^; I enjoy games that have a good atmosphere and storyline, but I don't play a lot of other games in the same genre.

RPGs- FF series and KH
Action - MGS series
Adventure - ICO
FPS - Half-Life 2

Racing and fighting games if I have a friend to play with. My favorite are multiplayer games =)

Mainly RPG because those types of games are meant to last from at least 20 hours. Basically, it doesn't end in a few hours like most other genres.

1) Shooters - Mindless shoot'em up types with lots of machine guns and rockets... and dual-wielding ...

2) Action - action games are good, but they must deliver action!!!!!!! (not just jumping around, real fighting and stuff) And lots of it!!! And many, many types of weapons ...

yes I know I have very typical "American" tastes and I've always wondered what it would have been like there if I grew up in that country...

Ahehe... ^_^;

While at one point I had an obsession with anything RPG-ish (I enjoyed Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment, a long time back...), nowadays I almost exclusively play Japanese RPGs ^.^ I've been playing them since I was very young, way back since when I first picked up my older brother's copy of Phantasy Star II at the age of six or seven. While I got hooked on them back then for the style of gameplay and the opportunities for character progession and development, I enjoy the more story fixated ones nowadays (Xenogears being a prime example) as opposed to those that are more about the style of play and battle system (Star Ocean, the Tales series, etc...).

I'm not sure what it is about them, and I don't really know many people who seem to understand my fixation with them, but there's something that I find really comforting about spending twenty hours or more getting to know a group of characters and umm...progressing with them, learning things as they do... It provides a level of intimacy between the player and the cast that movies, however good they might be, can't quite achieve. I can't really explain it better, but I don't think I'll *ever* really stop playing them...

As for other genres, I enjoy the more story heavy action-adventure games (Metal Gear Solid is highly entertaining, and the Legacy of Kain series is among my favourites ^_^). That aside, I tend to like games that delight in their own mindless nature, simple tests of reaction times and so forth. I still play a fair few platform games, both 2D and 3D (Though I prefer 2D for nostalgic reasons. I also like games that marry the two, such as Klonoa: perhaps the more adorable game I've ever played :)), as well as shooters (Not of the first person variety, but spaceship type shooters like R-Type and Ikaruga) and the odd fighting game here and there (The myriad incarnations of Street Fighter still have a nostalgic grip on me...).

My almost fervent obsession with computer games doesn't win me too many friends, though... =/ I grew up very close to my older brother, we're only seperated by maybe two years, and I was always tagging along at his heels ^.^ Whatever he got into, I ended up getting into too, just to sort of keep up, so I probably have him to thank for the fact that I've been playing games for just about my whole life =)

Mostly racing....
I play GTA not just for killing random people but just driving around...
going under 15 miles on the streets...amazing..

RPG arent that great to me.....
It just feels like doing the samething....
kill..level up..skill points..repeat a few times....save..quest..relize you have go back for it again..destroy game..go outside..

Now I what your saying....mabey
"WTF why you play racing games if your just go in circles"
Well yeah but thats like GT and Nascar...
I play a bunch of rally games (Colin McRae Rally 05).....
Where the course is not a loop....well except for Special Stage...
And some NFSU2 and initial d in it..
Its just the fun of being a grease monkey...

As far for the rest of the genre...
Halo 2-Fells like repeative gameplay but good multiplayer...
The Sims-Ill just do it real life...(burns food)
FF-meh...too much....
WWII games-Best games ever....
Vietnam War games-WHY THE HELL WOULD I RELIVE THE WROST THING THAT HAPPEND TO MY COUNTRY?!
PC games-my computer suks...
Party games-matters...most of them are so boring...(Mario Party, Warioware)
Dating sim games-go outside..introduce yourself to someone..then go on date
(well these games could be for practice i guess...)
Other sports game-I just suk a those...really...do i even have one?
(checks)
nope.....
(this is my opinion)

having got my 3D-GLASSES

i am in love with FPS. (it has to be FPS for the depth of play/immersion)

but the thing is, all the western games are so horrible!!! zombies,murders,war,fight...bleehhhhhch. morrowind, good idea... soooo ugly!!! why?

i love RPGS, collecting stuff, level up, good story.. but these are in 2D most of the time, if they are with nice graphics.. (final fantasy for example) so dont work with the glasses. why?

question. what is wrong with games developers? have they no skillz?

how to make a good game:

Oh wait.. my note book, there's a CD in it .. its Football Manager ... Guess no one here play it ... yeah, i'm an old man :P

and, I play Morrowind too... finish it twice.. now i downloaded a bunch of mods... and buy tribunal and bloodmoon so i can play wit all the mods i d/led (crazy me eeh? ).. but got to agree wit someone up there.. without the graphics enhancements pack, morrowind have got to be the game with the ugliest elves ever portrayed. At least the new plugin makes it prettier now... very pretty, it like a new game to me now

It's not that they don't have skills it's because of these reasons:
1. Big companies are usually very trad and afraid to experiment cause there afraid it won't sell. Sequels usually sell.

2. In Japan most of the designers are over the hill crowd as most of the late teeners to 30 below age range wanted to be either a pop idol, athlete or doujin makers. But still they innovate to how far.

3. Korea and other countries (Brazil, Taiwan and Singapore) are starting out in the industry but are mostly concentrating on either there local market or MMO's.

4. It's all about money -_-

Side comment:
Also are you really female cause you seem to try too hard.

First-Person Shooter. Kind of grew up with them (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem), so they tend to be what I play most. Some RPGs, some MMORPGs, and some rare Fighting Games entertain me also.
