well I know GC doesnt have many new high qualety games etc etc for example i make ninja gaiden (by that I mean 3d modeling etc etc) but I really like the metroid games (even have the GBA module) and the remakes of the first 3 Resident evil games were good thou only the first 1 was amazing but they messed up the other 2 (at least I think so) and we got the nice group games that are fun to play like mario party/cart ,SSBM etc etc but I think the PS 2 got most of the good single player games, yet "I" think its the frigging evil sports/car console <.< I more or less se in stores "ah lets se new PS 2 games...... sports sports sports cargame sports sports...." get my picture? almost feel like we in europe only think about sports and cars? geeze

I've always been a Sony fanboy. The games for PS are still my favorite. Even though PS
might not have as much firepower as the XBox, the games for it are capable of stretching
the console to the limits. XBox has the power, but there aren't enough good games,
especially Japanese games, for it. GC is too arcade style for my personal tastes.

Though I think XBox is pretty cool, Microsoft is one of my top 5 enemies in the world.

ok, my little summary of the three consoles

PS2 - massive game library with great third party support and good quality games, old hardware but still does it job well, gets my vote.

GC - smaller game library but with superb exclusive games from Nintendo and few other developers, great quality in games shame about third party support. Gets my second best vote

X-box - Powerful console with some decent third party support but lacks the game quality, with onyl a very small handful worth getting. I dont like it at all.

Well I had a PS1 and wanted desperately a PS2, but Xbox was introduced first in my country, so i decided to change for it.

Now i'm in love with this console, and since got my xbox live kit i'm thrilled, i definitely recommend it ^^

I personally own all three system and if I was going to give a rating to them here is what I would rated...

Playstation 2 - Game selections: [A++] | Graphics: [A] | Game Quality: [A+ to A]
Huge game selections to choice from and most 1st party and 3rd party games are very enjoyable. If you are looking for lots Japanese anime related titles, Playstation 2 will be the right choice for you. Beside, it's backward compatible so you may save your old Playstation games. :D
Gamecube - Game Selections:[B+] | Graphics: [A+] | Game Quality: [A++ to A]
The game selections are rather limited compare to the other 2 systems. However, 1st party games are EXCELLENT and high quality, but due to quality control 1st party games takes forever to be release. :rolleyes:
Xbox - Game Selections: [A] | Graphics: [A++] | Game Quality: [B-]
First attempt by Microsoft to steal the market share in home entertainment system arena. "Work of art sailing boat with no breeze to push it", powerful system with poor 1st party software support and almost identical games may be find on other two systems. Only VERY few titles worth getting, such as Halo and Halo 2. Currently, it makes a very nice paper weight for me. :o

can you edit it to rate with number? its confusing when you put letters and +. and the rating should be compare to each other, for example, a 1-3 system, to compare them(3 is the best) so people can add the points up and compare. its just a suggestion to make an easy comparisons.

Personally i prefer "PC" because of graphics, which r hundreds better than consoles, but OMG, i hate em DAMN COMPATIBILITY ISSUES. For that instance sometimes consoles better, but not entirely, also u cant addapt every kind of game into console, and PC, well its easier. Mostly because im a RTS fan, and because i hate them SOBS for not making ports of every console game to PC. And we know what is all this business bout. So to my point of view consoles suck, but if i had to choose, it would be the sony PS2, because of game reliability, yea sure we have em cube with nice graphics, but most of the games are crap, for christs sake more like kid oriented, obviously nintendo did it again. Oh well, and XBOX, nice graphics and all but yeah, it needs far more support. Would probably beat the two if there were more games.

I don't really feel any allegiance or affection for any particular consoles (except for, perhaps, the Dreamcast...damn that Hello Kitty one was cute =P), I just buy consoles based upon how many of the sorts of games I like are released for them. Thus I guess the RPG-heavy PS2 gets my vote here.

Based purely on design, though, I like the look of the Gamecube best.

BOX has few very good games like ninja gaiden and halo`s, but thats it, PS is most famous system out there so most good games are made for PS. My impression of GC is that it is for kids and has nintendo related games like mario and metroid (yes thats only my opinion)

GC Joint 1st, excellent innovative games(Viewtiful Joe, and you cant beat Mario and Metroid), small, quiet, and looks nice too, just needs a lot more third-party support. Not a console for the masses, but for the discerning few a true gem

Xbox is the best. I can run all kinds of emulators, including mame. I can watch videos over the LAN with Xbox Media Center.

PS2 purely for the games. but i think that the games on GC, and the system in general are really underrated, and personally i cant wait till i get the system(most likely in the summer). Xbox is a great system and all, just not worth the money for 2 games.

It all depends on the games tht you want to play or into. For example, if you like RPG games like FInal Fantasy then PS2 is a must. On the other hand if you like games like halo and doom 3 and half 2 then Xbox. Lastly if you like Mario and Nintendo related games and Resident Evil series a Cube definitly

I have all 3, I used to hate PS2 when it first came out, because the lack of games I liked, and how ugly some of the games looked on my tv, but I appreciate it more and more after more great games has been released, ps2 is capable of doing a lot of things if it's done right, GT4 look really amazing with progressive scan support and 1080i (though some said it's just upscaling but it still looks a lot better than the 480i), and PS2 looks the coolest out of the 3,the system design, controllers, bootup screen and game packaging (I don't like the green plastic case of xbox games):D

GC is more in between PS2 and XBox, graphic wise it's almost as good as xbox, but the problem was the lack of games, but most of the games that're out for it are really great (super monkey ball1&2, RE series, mario kart, zelda), but it feels like there aren't anymore great stuff coming out, except for the new zelda, I doubt Capcom would be able to make RE5 for GC before the next gen consoles come out.

XBox, have the best system spec, I don't like the system design and the controller, and the lack of games and japanese games really hurt the system, also there aren't much games I liked on the xbox, but games Tecmo made for the xbox were beatifully done, but unfortunately not a lot game companies did what Tecmo did on the xbox, however the online support, hdd saving, content download are stuff that I wished PS2 would support more.

I guess I'll choose ps2 :), imo it's the most sucessful console in this generation, for the biggest game library, then it's GC, then XBox.

But it really depend what games you liked, I can see how some people would like XBox more, especially if you play Halo and uses XBox live.

I bought and xbox, because it has a big mod scene, plus i can watch streamed media with it. I also got it for the DOA series, Ninja Gaiden, and HALO 1/2.

PS2 was bought for RPGs mainly, and some exclusive arcade fighters.

As for the gamecube. There was only one game that made me go out and get the GC. That game was Phantasy Star Online, but i did get others(Metriod Prime, Tales of Symphonia, and F-Zero GX).

I own two PS2's (slim and regular) and an XBOX. XBOX got the better system overall but PS2 beats it in the amount of good games it has (Too much to name, esp the amount of imports I get). PS2's graphics aren't all that bad anyway. XBOX only has the Halo's and Splinter Cell, thats about all I bought it for. Gamecubes' for kids. The only logical reason why I would buy it is cause its the cheapest system of the three and probably Tales of Symphonia.

I agree that Snes was the best console i have ever played, but i disagree with the same titles that appear on other consoles other than the GC, the GC has a whole wealth of exclusive games, which are great (Resident Evil, Metroid prime, Super Smash Brothers etc..)

Though i have to admit defeat to Sony's much more superior marketing powers in recent years, the quality of games is very good and i like the PS2 alot despite not owning one. However, i hate the X-box alot, call me an X-box hater :)

Besides that, consoles aren't all that great these days. Back then, the Snes really rocked the house with lots of absolutely great quality games (Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu 3, Tales of Phantasia...)
None of the three comes even remotely close to it. Today's Nintendo console, the GC, has only few good games like Resident Evil. 1st party games are generally kiddie games, which greatly harmed the console's reputation, and with WindWanker, they tried to scare away any remaining adults (or perhaps it was just an attempt to get an entry in the Guiness Book of Records for the most ugly graphics ever?) because of all this, there are hardly any games coming out for an older older audience. So if you like playing kiddie games, this is the console for you.
The PS2 has clearly the most games avaiable, and also the best titles overall, and a good selection also suitable for an older audience. There's lots of Japanese anime games for the PS2 as well. Only downside here is that the hardware is quite antiquated by now, and with a pricing close to the other two consoles, it's quite overpriced.
The Xbox is not bad for a first try - it has the best hardware, but the games selection could be better. In essence, I'd say there are about as much good games for the Xbox as for the GC, whereas the Xbox isn't flooded with kiddie games, so if you don't like those, you're better off with the Xbox.

Well PC is a good choice as every console is based on some system that can be run on the PC hence the world of emulators. But trying to be on topic, I see very few exclusive games for the GC that would capture "adult" attention with even fewer exceptions like Resident Evil. GC didn't seem to "grow" along as I also grew older.
Well, and of course PS2 has its own problems such as the incredibly crappy laser it has (already burned out 2). I also agree with Mai Tokiha that the PS2 seems pricy now adays with all their promotion of a PS3 coming soon (although I highly doubt that) but hell, when I first bought my PS1 it was 150 without the mod, guess it became natural. Not much comment on the XBOX except that they only did one smart thing that i recognize so far since they came out which was the XBOX version of Ghost Recon that takes place a few years after the PS2 version; get it for the story only.

I think out of all the systems the only reason y PS2 is th ebest is becsue of the games. GC has some good graphics and sometimes come out with crappy games, but graphics wise it pretty good. They are starting to come with good games now like RE4 and Fire Emblem.

Yeah, Fire Emblem for the GC looks pretty cool from what little I've seen. I voted PS2 because even though I own both a GameCube and a Playstation 2, I rarely play my GC anymore. The last couple of times that I've actually been able to get into playing it were with Resident Evil 4 (Awesome beyond words), and Tales of Symphonia. I bought Metroid Prime 2, but I never really got into it. Kinda a shame, now that I think about it. One of these days, I've gotta go back to it...

Other than that, the PS2 has more games that I like (DDR, Guilty Gear, etc.) The fact that it can play DVD's is a huge plus in my book, since I watch tons of anime.

Also, from what I've heard, Capcom IS releasing RE4 for the PS2, but it apparently won't be quite as good as the GC version. It's supposed to have extra features that the GC version didn't have, but at the cost of graphical power. If anybody wants me to, I could hunt down the article later.

IMO ps2 is better, for me at least. Gamecube and X-box are more mutli-player oriented, and ps2 is more for solo action. I've got my PC to handle the mmorpgs, so the playstation fits the other gaming requirements.

I love my xbox because of the cool features it has like custom tracks,internal harddrive,great graphics,fast loading time,and IMO its the best system for online play =P.
