I'm not sure if they will all be similar, but my suggestions are:
Dragon Ash, X Japan, Rip Slyme, Orange Range, Wrecking Crew,
The Yellow Monkey, TM Revolution, B'z, Baiser, etc. ^_^;

Hmm, I need to rummage through my CD collection again sometime. XD

You guys ended up recommending a lot of bands that sound nothing like Asian Kung Fu Generation. IMO AKFG is one of the most American-like bands in Japan in terms of sound.

move and SOUL'd Out is not even in the same genre
Orange Range - It's a stretch to call them a band
Most of the others mentioned are rock bands, but I wouldn't call them similar style.

There is a band that has a similar American-like feel although not so much as AKFG. Can't remember the name, they did the ending theme to the anime Berserk. Anyone know?
