Yes, use Alcohol 120% since it can handle just about any format thrown to it. And, this is fairly obvious, but you also DO need to have a modchipped console. That, or you can just play on your pc with a psx emulator.

You need a modchipped PS1 or PS2 unfortunately, which is abit annoying, especially since ModChips are getting harder to find, since the European court ruled they were illegal. My solution is to burn them all as images to a DVD, then just mount 'em using Daemon tools and use an emulator. Lets you have a huge library of games, without clogging up hard drive space, or using up hundreds of cd's. Try ePSXe for a good emulator.(Note to mod, Im suggesting this for legal purposes, like for games that you own, and if you already own a PS for the bios rom)

They are only illegal in the UK, I think. As for the rest of Europe, I'm not sure, but it's certainly legal in some countries. Overall, it's a pretty flaky situation. But it's easy enough to find modchips or pre-modded systems on the internet. Not a problem, really, to get a modded console.

You can also get those boot-up discs that lets you play imports and cd-r/dvd-r on a console
Best is still having a modded psx. Also remember to burn them at 2x cos if i din remember wrongly thats the psx cdrom read speed. For ps2 its 16x. But playing too much burned psx games can kill the psx's lens

the psx readspeed is 1X and for the PS2 its 2X
Burning games you usually burn it with the lowest possible speed(it depends on your burner). and playing backups does not kill the lens.
for more on burning images check the CAQ and the stickies in the help & support section.
so when i burn games, i burn them at the lowest my burner can go?

yup, if you want to lessen the chance that errors creep up when reading the disc. if your burner supports 1X then burn your PS2 games with 1X otherwise the slowest possible.
for PSX games it depends, I burn mine with 16X and they work. but it is advisable to burn at the lowest speed possible to prevent getting coasters.
the brand of DVD-R and CD-R also influence the final result, you'll just have to try some brands to find one you like.

when it comes to CD-Rs, unless they're giving them out for free, usually you don't need to worry too much about it. If you're burning PS2 games where it usually requires DVD-Rs, don't be too stingy and buy better DVD-Rs, trust me, you don't want to end up like me with 40 frisbees... remember DVD-Rs, BRAND MATTERS

The answer to finding those hard to find piracy items is Chinatown... well I guess there aren't any large chinatowns in Europe, but I bet there's bound to be a vendor around that deals with these items.

Probably slowest speed, to decrease the chances of read errors.
