Well, I've split the tracks. I've noticed that the "noise burst" is actually always the same. Perhaps a tool could be made to remove it automatically next time (although I'm too lazy to do so).

I'll just need the track names (waiting for someone to unlock all the Music Room tracks and type them up for me... I'm still missing 5 tracks) and the rip should be ready.

I've already ripped Perfect Cherry Blossom if you're interested. Haven't done so for Imperishable Night (on account of not having that game).

I already torrented here the perfect cherry blossom (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5653) and imperishable night (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5981) ost

I've seen and heard of the game but not actually played it. After the tracker is back up I'll download it, thanks.

And I was wondering why are there so many characters?

that pic is too kawaii!! *_* ...

(torrent for Immaterial and Missing Power is online and active, is an remote torrent posted here, in the game torrents section (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12182), is a highly recomended game :))

ChronoReverse

There's that many characters because there's 9 games in the series already (Touhou 1 through 8, including 7.5).

Tends to add up if you keep adding new characters.

I've got a clean rip of the IaMP done already. However, I need someone to type up the track list for me. If you want though, I can leave the tracks named th75_01 through th75_34 (4 tracks will be out of order until someone unlocks them though)

Hmm, I'll have to remember download the IM OST when the tracker comes back.

Incidentally, do you want the tracks to repeat and fade? Right now I have them playing only once and without fading, but it wouldn't be too difficult to make them loop once and fade at the ends.

Hmm, unlocking the last 4 tracks will be easier than I thought. I thought that Easy mode wouldn't give me all the battles, but it seems that it does and also gives the Good Ending.

ChronoReverse

Immaterial and Missing Power (Touhou 7.5) is a fighting game. All the rest of the Touhou series (including but not limited to Perfect Cherry Blossom, Imperishable Night, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil) are shmups.

I'm a newbie to this nice game, and I got a few questions, if you don't mind answering them...

1. Why do each character has so many D button commands?
2. How does the card system work?

Thanks.

ChronoReverse
01-06-2005, 04:58 PM
1. The D button attacks are for your Supers. You only get to choose two Spell Cards (aka supers) but they give you the commands for all of them (their pretty much just the fireball motion anyways).

2. Spell Cards are basically the super attacks of the characters. Both the player controlled character and CPU opponents have spell cards. The object is to defeat the opponent when they're in their Spell Card phase before the countdown runs out to collect the most points possible.

This game is like most of the Touhou series. Very tough (well, the others are very tough shooters, this one is a tough fighting game).

Pretty much the only thing you can do is to figure out the AI weaknesses and exploit them (for Hard and Lunatic) =/

Maria Renard
01-06-2005, 06:24 PM
stick in one char until you have mastered her, and then move to other (by this time you must have at least perfectioned the general idea on how this vs works, with that just practice a bit ;))

I have a problem with the game IaMP.
I can't seem to open the configuate file 東方萃夢想コンフィグ.
I can play the game just fine but I want to change the settings and also what to play the game with my PS2 USB adapter.
Can anyone help me?

ChronoReverse
01-06-2005, 07:04 PM
I had the same problem too. You're probably using WindowsXP. Set the compatibility mode to Win2k for just the configuration exe. That should make it work again.

Sticking with one character is definitely a good idea. Remilia and Marisa are good choices since they have special moves that can go through projectiles like a dash. The AI isn't very good at defending against those types of attacks.

If you're familiar with fighting games, Patchouli would be a good choice too since she has both a slow and fast fireball move. Extremely useful and dangerous.

Ponzu
01-06-2005, 07:38 PM
Thanks, it worked.
Yay, now I'm going to play for days on end.
And sooner or later I can talk about it with you guys.

Mysterio006
01-06-2005, 08:11 PM
Oh my fricken god, Suiza Ibuki is such a bastard. Six life bars, annoying ass last power where she fires fricken everywhere, disappearing life bars - its a damn good thing I had 9 bars to cast my spells... sheesh. Thankfully losing a life in that battle didn't change the ending I guess. I'm exhausted as hell now. :P

There's no way to activate the super super powers the people you fight have, right?

ChronoReverse
01-06-2005, 08:54 PM
Nope, the suped up versions of the Spell Cards are obviously not available since they're quite the overkill.

I'm not going to add the fade into the tracks. Some of the tracks are meant to not have fading so it's better to leave it without. I've compressed it using --alt-preset standard.

63.1mb

I don't have webspace right now, so I'll just send it to you Maria Renard (pm me and we'll figure something out). I just want the tracklist now =)

Well, looks like my effort is slightly wasted: http://septnov.egloos.com/i2 This guy released a tool to do it automatically.

ok, I already made a game without problems to remilia, then reimu, then yukari (it was my first time vs her last 2 cards, but I passed them), and then suika... unbelievable, I survived with just 2 energy bars and almost killed her last spell...

but then she screwed all :p

I just need to play again to surely win, I already have a plan, I

Good luck. Because of the challenge, I tried my best to 1CC Lunatic... and I succeeded!

Lost 1 life to Remilia, 1 life to Yukari and 1 life to Suika.

I probably beat Suika by the skin of my teeth :D

Hmm, replay is buggy. It messes up against Yukari right at her last spell card=(
Just watched the Suika stage separately, that works fine.

At least I had a >787K Spell Card in there =)

After a lot of tears, sweat and agony, including making it to the last Spell Card of Reimu with 1 extra life and then dying, I've finally managed a 1CC Lunatic Story Mode with Suika.

Along the way, I picked up a >927000 point Spell Card

I suppose the reason why fighting game replays often screw up is because of the tight timings for some of the moves and the erratic movement of players messing around with the hit boxes =/

Meh, this time it screws up in the stage against Youmu. Later stages are fine.

This doesn't seem to have been covered yet, but in IaMP, what does the bomb counter above your spellpower bar represent? I'm thinking it was just decoration, but for all I know it may be a secret move I haven't figured out yet.

Sakuya is quickly becoming my fav, but only because of her mix of good speed and projectiles.

Bombs are the key to massive combos, since as someone mentioned earlier, they can be used to cancel a move. Although it depends on the move (usually something that floats them off the ground a bit), it blows the character vertically up so you can juggle them after or chain into another combo.

For example, a slightly hard one with Yuyuko would be
6+A -> 412+A -> bomb -> A -> 412+A -> bomb -> jump+B

It also has a buncha other functions like as a counter move if you're cornered up and stuff.
Btw Sakuya's bomb has a bug, which allows you to cancel pretty much ANYTHING in the game. For example, you can knock Yuyuko and Suika out of the air in their final spellcard, where after they continue fighting normally instead of restarting the spellcard.

Also, am I the only one finding Alice as WAY TOO HARD to win with?
Like she doesn't have uber long range moves like Patchouli and she has even worse up close moves...
It's insanely frustrating...
That sword also has to be the exact distance away or you completely miss.

Actually if you are looking for a combo based game. I suggest keeping off IaMP.

As for Alice for check around some Japanese websites for replays. I seen a number of Good Alice replays around.

A well handled Alice beats down quite a number of characters like Yuyuko, Sakuya and so on.

If you want to knowm her main strats is to use C, 214A and A. Zone her properly and she's a nightmare to deal with.

Against the CPU, a easy tactic to take is to projectile spam while moving around. The AI doesn't seem to be very good at dealing with combined physical and projectile attacks.

I still like the game, it's just...different than the fighters I'm used to...
I'm really liking Scarlet (Remilia) now (I haven't played Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil...is the game named after her?), mainly because her dive move goes through projectiles, is an awesome escape move (The a and b versions), stuns them so you can follow up with a combo (forward A, 236 A or 236 B if your close enough into bomb into super)
I beat her story on hard while only losing one life (Boo on Suika bleah...), think I'm ready for Lunatic?

And yes ironically I quickly saw that one of Alice's best moves is also one of her weaknesses...her mid short range A...I spammed that thing like no tomorrow, and when you actually tick or connect...all is good.
However if they are closer than its range well...that's the main problem.

In case you haven't noticed, Remilia and Marisa are top tier.
Remilia's so getting beat with a nerf stick though /cry.

ChronoReverse
02-12-2005, 04:00 PM
Heh, the first comment most people make are that Remilia and Marisa are so overpowered.

And a lot of the weaker characters are further gimped by Spell Cards that don't do a lot of damage AND drain all of your energy.

That Alice cheese...
and that Patchouli SUPER CHEESE

bellreisa
02-12-2005, 07:50 PM
Probably because Remilia and Marisa *are* powerful. Remilia moves faster than anyone else in the game and has a third airdash. She can essentially set the tempo for any match she's in and invalidate tons of bullet pattern setups because she can move through them where some characters can't. Marisa's got the nigh-unstoppable high-jump cancel 5C rushdown and extremely good SCs and spirit/bullet ratio.

Alice sucks. I use Alice and she's just woefully underpowered in comparison to the current top tier.

Patchouli sucks too, but she just needs a few tweaks to make her good. It's not really that any character sucks right now so much that Remilia, Marisa, Youmu, and Reimu are too powerful. (That and high-jump cancelling breaks a lot of characters and makes them way too good)

sibladeko
02-13-2005, 08:28 AM
I thought Sakuya was above Reimu?
Sakuya seems pretty damn good...not exactly wow look at me do lots of damage with 15 hit combos or chain you with jabs in the corner if I catch you in the air good, but good nonetheless.

I guess I'll have to go in search of Reimu abuse =_=...already enough examples of the first three (Remilia, Marisa, Youmu)

Did anyone ever play Xmen vs Street Fighter?
All these stupid chainable jab in the corner while opponent is in the air combos remind me of Gambits amazingly silly infinite.

bellreisa

Reimu's spirit consumption is about a fourth of Sakuya's, and she has equal coverage.

But a question...how the hell did you decide when to cut off a song?
Like song one, there's a pretty definite stop point.
But like 2 and 3?
Hell, 3 overlaps the ending violin and the opening string chords, thus making a really awesome song to be looped, but an absolute nightmare for someone trying to decide when to stop the thing.

I have a few questions about Imperishable Night (great game, btw):

When you change characters you have to hold the shift key all the time? Is there a way to change between both characters using only a key? For example, i have the human character, i press a key once and switch to the phantom character, and i stay as the phantom until i press the same key again to switch back to human. There is a way to do that? Because holding down shift and trying to contol the character is very hard.

And also, how do you get more spell cards in the spell card practice option? I have finished the game in easy with 3 of the teams and all of them have unlocked the exact number and type of spell cards (20/222) also i finished the game in normal once but the new spellcards i saw didnt appeared, also the spell cards of the stage 4B and most of the FinalA dont appear, though i saw them and finished the game.

Ok, two more questions, i swear! Someone posted that to access FinalB, its necessary to finish the game without continues. This is in any difficulty?

And the last, in FinalA, after defeating the boss a girl appears and starts a spellcard which you cannot use bomb against, if you get killed the stage ends and ending appears, what happens when you survive the spellcard /kill her? I have not done it yet.

AnoHito
03-09-2005, 02:56 AM
For your first question, I don't think that's possible... As for the spell cards, I'm not quite sure, but you might have to beat them without getting hit...
Yes, the FinalB is for any difficulty, and all you get for surviving (you can't actually kill her) is a point bonus...

Well, there are a number of tips I could give you but the most important thing is, like Maria said, to know the patterns and that means to play the level lots.

It is also important to realize when _not_ to move and when to move only a _little_. Rarely ever should you be moving a lot (except if you're more advanced and are trying to collect more points).

Against bosses, take advantage of the indicator on the bottom. It marks the position of the boss so you don't have to look up.

Attention all Perfect Cherry Blossom fans!

vortiginous.com (http://www.vortiginous.com/) now has the highest Normal score replay done outside of Japan available for download.
It's in AVI format, so you don't even need the game to see a top-class player in action!
sdkess has this to say:

Here's another fantastic shoot'em up video by Andypro!
This time it is a high score run in Normal mode of Perfect Cherry Blossom for the PC.
This game is vertical scrolling shmup with unique graphics and plenty of exquisite (but deadly) showers of bullets.
As I watched this, I often found myself in awe of how Andypro was able to keep track of everything and skillfully squeak his way through.
He managed to achieve the highest known American score in this game, so you should definitely give this a look!

Download it here (http://www.vortiginous.com/vids/Andypro-PCB-HighScore.zip) (296 MB).

Hmm, even after the patch I think Remilia's still the most powerful character in Immaterial and Missing Power. At least currently I can kill anyone using her on Hard mode. I was doing well with Patchouli until I had to fight Remilia, that's when I switched to using Remilia.

Patchouli's lvl 2 flare special attack is just sweet, and she completely dominates at long range especialy with spells comboed with the d, df, f, C attack. Just has a lot of trouble against Remilia's speed in getting close to her and the Wind skill isn't sufficient to keep her away.

Remilia dominates the close combat. Her "uppercut" has priority over almost every other normal attack, and almost all her moves have the dodge attribute, making long range attacks useless against her.

I may change my opinion again when I try Lunatic though.

Tracks 15-18 are from the extra stages. Once you unlock them, you will hear them and enjoy them, if you can do that looking beyond the stages themselves. As for the extra stage itself, you should be able to play it once you beat the game without using a continue on any difficulty if I remember correctly.

Extra is unlocked for any character you've completed the game with (A and B versions are different) without the use of continues.

Incidentally, the generally accepted order of difficulty (1cc) is as follows:

Easy, Normal, Extra, Phantasm, Hard (Some consider this to be slightly easier than Phantasm but it really depends on how you play. It takes a lot more endurance to handle Hard though), Lunatic.

Very few people have managed to 1cc Lunatic.

When referring to difficulty, it is understood that we mean 1cc. In that regard, 1cc'ing Lunatic is far more difficult than Extra is (which you have to 1cc anyways lol).

Chuugoku really suffers in IaMP. She's a melee character but at least a quarter of the cast out-melees her in Power, Speed, Priority, Range and Recovery. However, once some big combos are worked out she should be fine (I hope).

If I were you, I wouldn't. I thought that I'd never beat Easy 1cc, then I thought I'd never beat Extra. After that I thought that although I'd beaten Extra when I thought I'd never be able to, I definately won't be able to beat Phantasm.

But I kept trying anyways and I eventually beat Phantasm. This involved over two hundred attempts plus a three month break in the middle when I gave up. But eventually I made it and beat the Phantasm to my own great surprise and delight under my own power.

That said, if you still want to see a replay, the forums at Shrinemaiden.com has some replays for Phantasm. Of course, they're done by the high level players in that forum so they'll be much more insane than a replay from an average ability player like me :p

Save your super gauges. Keep knocking her down when she enters that spellcard. When it starts to fire a little quicker (but not yet continuously) spam your own spellcard.

If your spellcard doesn't have invincibility frames, try to save more gauges and start spamming them immediately.

This should work in Lunatic as well (as I've done it with a few characters).

The other solution is to choose a character that doesn't battle Yukari lol

ChronoReverse
08-23-2005, 12:08 PM
It's detailed in the Shrinemaiden.com forum but I'll give a brief answer.

Lily appears "when the action is slacking" in a rought translation of ZUN's words.

The number refers to the power level of the bomb/spell attack.

In the bottom left corner, the number (up to 16) is the level of L2 and L3 bomb attacks. It starts off at a level determined by the difficulty (e.g., 8 for Lunatic) and increases by 1 each time you use a L2 or L3 bomb attack. It'll also increase by 1 for each round in the match.

The number in the bottom right corner is the Dragon Class attacks (i.e., the one where you send a boss over) power level. It increases whenever a Dragon Class attack is used (whether by you or your opponent... this number is always the same for both of you) and with each round.

The higher the number, the more powerful the corresponding attacks are. Level 16 is the highest and is maddening in the sheer density of the bullets.

No one said this so I'll say it. For PoFV, Netplay is in development and the Youkai characters are going to be added (it's on ZUN's diary).

Latest update to ZUN's diary says that 60fps netplay is possible under some circumstances for netplay (hopefully for internet and not just LAN).

Just notice that they're avaliable to play in MATCH mode. Don't know when did I get them. But I've already beat all Extra mode. May be extra mode ?

this is a long shot, but is there a gameplay guide for IaMP?

I'm wondering about the specials and cards in particular. It seems that you can chose 2 out of three cards when selecting a character. Are those different specials or other type of abilities?

I noticed that sometimes when I do a special it switches from one type to another. how do I know which special I can do and can I pre-select this? It seems pretty random so far...

More powerful than the first one you select,
really the same but more powerful^^

You'll notice white and red colors on your life guage.
white: you can die 1 time ; you're using the first spell card you selected
red: you can't die or you'll lose; using the second spell card

The torrent existing in the torrents section is all you've got.

Wow, it's been 3 months since someone last posted huh?

Er... well, I've been improving in IN slowly, I can beat FinalA on Normal now (yes, pathetic still). Also working on capturing those spell cards, and I've been able to capture 144. 146 remains quite elusive however... (144-147 are the final cards for FinalA). I absolutely hate the green bullets near the end. I have no clue how to easily get past those... Spell card 138 took me freaking forever to get too. Anyone else still playing?

By the way, if anyone knows Japanese and is willing to translate some comics... my sig. ^_^

It's been a while now, I guess you have found the answer, but here goes anyway (just for the sake of the discussion and people who possibly have the same problem). You have to spin around here until she becomes visible, then you can start "shooting" her.

I'll have time soon to revisit the Touhou series, but as of now it's exam's week. 138 - Curse of the Heavens "Apollo 13" is arguably the hardest normal spell card in this game. I remembered dying countless of times in Practice Mode as well. It has something to do with the way the bullets fall. It's not that dense, but their constellation lure you into the same trap everytime. A curse, maybe?

Btw, I assume just about any of you know Touhouwiki by now. It's so good, it kills just about any discussion.

Do they have any special super powers in the game (not the normal supers which you choose from the spell cards)?

Djinova
02-17-2006, 10:14 AM
? I am not sure I understand your question correctly, or whether you are familiar with the game.
If you press X, you activate their super power in a form a screen-clearing bomb. The bomb is basically a spell card you as a player churn out. Of course, if this spell card is used against you, it appears in a modified version to match the difficulty. Marisa's Magi Cannon spell card you can use when you play with Marisa. Likewise in Imperishable Night, you have to face this spell card in Level 4 Powerful.

Kyahahaha, after a few months of off and on playing, I have finally 1cc'd Normal mode in PCB. Reimu(B) goodness, and man did I die stupidly on Yuyuko a lot.

I'd post some replays of my friends and I duking it out in IaMP and PoFV, but we are such scrubs, i'm ashamed to post them. Well, maybe not the PoFV replays, but definately not the IaMP ones, hehe.

Yeah, but we can always speculate, and for those that don't know of it, we can try to look knowledgeable for a moment. We could always just kind of steer this into a 'look what I did!' posting. Also, combos for IaMP and the like can be discussed here easily enough. I don't think the wiki has any combos, anyway, heh.

I know this is an old thread, but there's a new iamp netplay patch that absolutely kicks ass.
I played someone on west coast at 60fps with almost no lag, it pretty much beats any netplay patch for a doujin fighter i've seen period.

We're talking possibly good enough to hold online tournaments different.

OooOOOooo, i'll have to check up on this then. Of course, i'd never be up to par with anything remotely tourney level, but it'll be nice to play more than the two opponents I have here.

Edit:

Well, to avoid a double post, i'll edit this so noone will ever see.

Rawr. I got that netplay patch to finally work well! Me being the tech genius that I am not, I finally figured out the source of many woes of my internet: my modem had a freakin' firewall too! Two hardware firewalls and a software one seemed to be a bit overkill, and now I can at least play decently with a friend nearby. Now I gotta test this over some distance and see if anything truly improved or not...

@Garven:
How is the netplay patch? I hear that 60fps is possible with caster, but no one really mentioned the sys specs and net speed along with that...

I'm just wondering: will 1.5mbps DSL be enough to get IaMP at full 60fps? I'm worried 'cos I got a chance to try it out and the fps was 30-35 >.< I don't really know which side had the fault so I'd like to ask around before actually going to #iamp and challenging people with my crappy connection. >.>

Thanks you. :)

Trying to play with a friend but we keep getting a Timeout (away) error after it asks us to input the Delay margin. It loads the game and enters the Dual Human char selection screen but we arent connected anymore.

Mysterio006

Even with cable and playing in the same state, I still get a slightly laggy connection (45 fps or so). It's quite inevitable, considering that input needs to be quite precise.

I... actually haven't played with it for a while. I'm sure 12 new versions have come out since then, but a lot of the factor is in your connection. Kill all your firewalls (DMZ works best, if you dare) and hope the distance isn't too great between you and your opponent. If your computer chops, you really shouldn't play online, as your opponent will have the same effect as the patch syncs both computers together. Most of the matches I did get in were medicore at best, but no one really lives near me, hehe. Either way, you should just drop by into #iamp and give it a try anyway. It's not like they'll hate you forever (for too long, anyway :P) and i'm sure they'll welcome any new competition.

hgatedc: Did you try switching it to easy mode? It's REALLY easy on that mode. If you're still having trouble I can upload my save.dat later.

i unlocked everything in IaMP, since you can unlock everything in easy mode.

unlike all the spell cards of IN, you really need to finish them in many difficulties to unlock the Last Word spell cards, not to mention i cant handle it in hard mode already

Aaah, yeah. All I can say is good luck memorizing everything. I haven't been practicing the games, myself, for awhile. It's kind of saddening when I pick PCB up again and I can't even 1CC it anymore on normal mode. Ugh. School + Work + MMO = no time, hehe. I can't even take out Erin in normal mode for IN, so that shows just how bad I am at those normal cards. Last words are like no lube. Ouch.

I posted this request in some other places such as Maidens of the Kalidoscope without much help yet and a bit of ridicule, but then again they're pretty hardcore at Maidens of Kalidoscope so one can't really blame them to much for a sharp rebuke. Anyway, strange request, but I recently went lost the abililty to access the extra stages on the Windows games due to the loss of my Touhou folder and I'm desperately seeking somebody who is nice enough (and not too elitist) to upload there unlocked data files somewhere so that I can play the extra stages again without the hassle of unlocking them, since now that I'm back in school I simply don't have the time to burn on trying to unlock them. I know people will call me a cheater, but I'm really in a pickle here. (Actually I copied this post of mine almost verbatim from the one I made on AnimeSuki's game board). Man I'm convinced they hate me already at Maidens of The Kalidoscope, probably not a good idea to make your second post one like this eh.
