Does anybody know if Jinki:Extend is being fansubbed or not?
It's a pain in the butt figuring out what is going on with the raw version

i've been told that there is a group subbing it but i haven't been told the groups name. guess we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled over the next week or so.

According to AndrewLB.com as of yet there is no group listed for fansubbing this series. More info can be found here; http://www.andrewlb.com/fansub/pukiwiki.php?Winter%202004%2F2005

Animeyuki is working on it, but however the staff is stretched razor thing due to all of our projects, so if any experienced people are out and looking to help out, PM me on IRC (Zerox20)

it's done by nanashi now, 1024x576  the art is too bland to deserve that IMO. (they're not going to get a prize for originality with that mecha nor chara design...)
Let's hope the plot is worth something, since their personalities are unconvincing/cliched.. :(

Every Anime genre is cliched to hell! Mecha anime is no exception.
Personally i think the nanashi encode is great, but i can't seem to play it properly on media player. The video seems to play slightly slower than the sound, leading to timing issues. Has anyone else had this problem?
I can get around it by using videoLAN but i don't like using that player cos i have issues with it's tracker bar...

I've only seen two episodes, but so far I like this series -- and I understand episode 3 is a good one. Of course, I can't stand ordinary "real" mecha, so perhaps a mecha fan wouldn't like this. I do not find the characters cliched. You have to take into account that anime is an art form that has many conventions. If we couldn't stand at least some of them, we wouldn't be watching any anime.

I have to agree there, so far this doesn't look like anything special. I have a feeling though it might get eaten up here in America

I'm not too sure on this one, having only seen 1 episode, but yeah I was a bit disappointed on the visuals side, and the 'yet another mecha' syndrome. However, I've got a feeling this series has a sense of humour, so it might be worth hanging on before passing judgement just yet....
P.S. I get a few problems too on the audio/video synch of these 1024x versions, but it might be just that my PC is a bit pants & can't keep up...

Yeah videoLAN is the only player i can play the Nanashi sub on aswell. Dunno whats with the file to not allow it to play in any other players.
But anyways, the encode is brilliant, really nice but i have to agree with oink37 that the art is too bland for such a high resolution encode.
Now if only Air had a resolution like that :D

I checked thru all my settings etc. and still can't play this properly (though I haven't had problems with other 1024x releases), but I'll give videolan a try.
About Air - There's a torrent on Tokyo Toshokan today with episode 1 of Air in 1024x resolution :)
ooooo yummy :D
Thanks for the headsup Babel :)
With the Nanashi's Jinki Extend subs though im having a problem with ep 2. Whenever i open the folder with the episode in it, Explorer crashes and the Window's send error message comes up.
Is anyone else having this trouble or is it just my computer being a bastard?
Im guessing that with my luck its my computer being a bastard, lol
try mplayer, it need less resources (you may want to grab a gui, if you don't know how to use command-line)

I got my jinki to work in the end. I just forced media player to start the file with direct vobsub and manually selected the filter. I think the problem was that media player on it's own, tried to play it with numerous ones simultaneously, which caused the video to slow down and used up more resources.
My jinki 2 works fine too.
