I agree, dark water is very good. By the way, i think all ring movies are worth watching (i mean ring 0-1-2 japanese version off course). I didn't really like "the grudge" (jap)...i wonder if the american version is better.

Actually hmm... There are some promising Japanese titles last year and this year.. but ended up not really that nice. I really recommend you to watch SHUTTER, it's an asian film, thai made. It is one of the best titles I've ever watched.

I recomend all Ring movies. This also included Rasen(or Spiral as some call it)
Dark Water is good.
The Eye, it's Chinese though. some creepy scenes but the end is a bit of a letdown
Ju-On 1 and 2. 1 is much better than the second.
Pulse(or Kairo) is quite scary. but as ValkyrieSkuld said, the ending sucks.
Kourei is good
And uzumaki is just soooo weird, it's like anime, with real actors. Definitely worth watching

Ju-oh 2 is okay. Most of the horror movies like Ju-oh and ring are super creepy, but not that scary. That is my point of view only. :D

The movie "cure" really spoke to me, and I've seen a trailer of "Pulse", wich I'm really wanting to see.
The ring was rather boring, can't say it was really scary, but that's just my opinion, I'm not scared easily.

A little question: Which jap horror movies do you think are a must-see? So far I've seen all Ju-On (except for the US one) and Ringu. I liked Ringu, Ju-On 1 (the curse) and Ju-On 1 (the grudge). Ju-On 2 sucked.

Hope to recieve advices :).

Wow im suprized none of the Tomie Movies (Tomie, Tomie: Rebirth, Tomie: Another Face, Tomie: Replay, and Tomie: Forbidden Fruit) were mentioned ^_^. Ju-On(the grudge) was good, Ringu was good, Uzumaki was good, i havent seen the sequels to Ju-On or Ringu yet. Oh there was also Ju-Rei, that was good too.

Edit: And the Eko Eko Azerak series was good too, althought the 3rd one just didnt seem to fit right with the others.

Juon is the scariest movie ever. Another movie that stayed with me for weeks after watching it was 'Audition'. I can't talk more without spoiling the movie but suffice to say its very memorable.

In terms of horror, I must say that the Korean horror movies are definately better, and if you want a good scare, go seek some of those out. The only really scary Japanese horror I ever saw was Audition, but that's mostly because all of Miike's movies give me the creeps....

In terms of Japanese horror, I happen to love their zombie movies. Not really scary, but zombies fit in with horror, right?

Stacy
Wild Zero
Battlefield Baseball
Junk
and its not Japanese, but its one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen, Bio-Zombie (hong kong)

non-zombie movies in the japanese horror genre that were ok were the 3 Eko Eko Azaraku movies

It is already out. It was ok, but, I think the Ring 1 was better. Of course, Ringu was better than both of them. :D

Many good films have been already mentioned, but Japanese cinema is also full of older horror classics like Blind Beast, Onibaba and Kwaidan for example. I also personally like Teruo Ishii's torture spectacles from the sixties, but they probably wont fit into the horror category very well. More like pure exploitation filth at best - just what the doctor ordered.

Expect a Hollywood remake of this film, starring Jennifer Connelly, sometime this fall. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382628/

I watched a Korean movie by the name of Ryeong (aka. Dead Friend). It was a fairly good movie all in all. Wasn't very creepy, but, it had a few interesting twists in it and the story was pretty good. I would recommend it.
