fps? well... the only fps game that i had a really, really good time was Serious Sam.
that was because i was playing it with my friends ~
believe me, the fun factor just went through the roof when played with friends ~
that game has brought me major pwnage...

but when played alone, it just doesn't appeal as much as with others around...

ahh... memories. i can still remember how we screamed in the middle of the night just by playing it ~

Kamikaze Bomber: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Wow.... I used to do that do. We played Serious Sam 1 & 2 straight with 4 players (3 joypads & 1 key & mouse). Really crazy, hillarious, & fun. We played the co-op mode from the first stage of Serious Sam until the end of the stage in Serious Sam 2 for hours straight. And we're noisy as hell too. The stages are huge, the enemies are hillarious & large, & there's the split screen modes. Too many cool multiplayer co-op features (very console platform friendly). An extremely good game for a cheap price tag.

Holy damn. I was going to say The Second Encounter. The Serpent Yards really did it for me. That aside, Damjan Mravunac's soundtrack was liek pwn 2 t3h M4XX! Also, Serious Sam on Serious level really put me through hell to get to the end (I wish I had done it co-op; woulda saved me hours of frustration).

After that, it was probably No One Lives Forever, despite all of the stealth problems I had to endure throughout the game. That opening stage was BRILLIANT.

"Where's That Dime?"

EDIT: Oh yes, almost forgot (King of All Cosmos, baby!): REZ isn't really a first person shooter. It's more of a 3D Rail Shooter. It's still a cool game, though.

doom :p, and the only game I ever deemed worthy as follower: serious sam (has the same immensely large number of critters, even more, coming at you, only drawback is, that you can't seem to make them kill eachother :p)
liked unreal 1 as well, not the other :p

Dunno about doom3 :p, I've only played doom1&2 so far, erm yeah...'played', not like I wasn't playing it 5 minutes ago :D. I probably should leave now, gotta take my last exam in an hour :p.
Doom also has the advantage of being playable in linux, so I don't have to switch operating systems to play games :D.

My choice: Unreal Tournament Original/2003/2004
Nothing can simply reach this in plain MFPS. I also enjoy war games first person
shooters. Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 were phenomenal games, but they weren't exactly
very fun for me. Too linear, lack of feeling, nausea, etc. >_<; But great games in
a critical sense. ^_^

Oooh! I remember playing that game for 15 minutes at my friend's house.
It was awesome, and the graphics were pretty amazing (at least back then ^_^)
It's probably pretty inexpensive now. Maybe I should go buy a copy... ^_^
Thanks for the advice!

thats great!!! :D its a great game and there is never just one path. i,d have to say whats even better is the 5.2 km range that you can see enemies and good guys with usin the binoculars and sniper rifle. shootin people from that far away just feels awesome.

For most recent i choose Doom 3 because haven't tried Half Life 2 yet, even though I heard some great reviews for it. But the old FPS that i enjoyed the most was probably Duke Nuken 3D, I just love the way Duke says those cheesy lines such as "It's time to kill ass and chew bubble gum and i'm all out of gum."

Pretty much the games i was gonna post :D Although after playing the SW:RC demo it's not particularly that impressive as i thought it was gonna be. Health is lost too quickly and changing weapons takes a while

Half Life 2 was awesome too though

Speaking of Duke Nukem 3D (ah, such a classic), I just remembered that 3DRealms
has been developing Duke Nukem Forever... for a long time...
I've been continuning to faith in 3DRealms over DNF. It's too long overdue and their
"secrecy" and hype started to annoy me. ^_^; Hahaha, but at least Max Payne 2
still makes me smile when I think of 3DRealms. Sometimes. ^_~;

There was a guy who was making a mod for Duke 3d on the source enginge, he got a C&D from 3DRealms though, because he used stuff rippe form the game (and the name also). He changed the name to Los Angeles, California, but he might change it again.

Back on topic, Mine has to be Operation Flashpoint for single and Wolf : ET for multi.

Unreal Tournament ws my favorite all time FPS on PC. Right now i've still messing with Halo 2, until Unreal Championship 2 comes along. Can you believe it? UC2 going to have 3rd person melee w/over 50 multiplayer maps!

Now you know why it's Duke Nukem Forever. I guess they will never release it. And they shouldn't as it would only cause disappointment among fans. (nothing can be as good as they promised after ... hmm... 10 (?) years of development)

I enjoyed UT 99 and I still play some mods. Played CS for ~5 years now.

Did a buncha stuff that I didn't expect you could do in an FPS, plus it had an OK storyline, unlike what most FPS's have. I haven't tried THAT many FPS's, especially since my compy can barely take flash movies without having only that on when playing it... =/

don't generally play too many fps since they usually make me dizzy. don't play much fps multiplayer.

the fps i enjoyed playing the most was halo. waiting for halo2 to come out on pc. battlefield 1942 was revolutionary. no one lives forever was a classic.

Can't believe I forgot this: Goldeneye 007. Most fun I've ever had playing multiplayer. Also, the three most well-designed multiplayer levels came straight outta Goldeneye: The Temple, The Stack, and The Complex (Screw the Facility).

I voted in the poll for Half Life 2, until now is the best FPS that I have played, but I enjoy a lot play and replay Painkiller, it`s pretty fun, very linear but fun, another favorite is Unreal Tournament in all their versions, I even have done some skins of "Luchadores" (mexican masked wrestlers) for the first version of UT.

Call of Duty and Call of Duty: United Offensive.

What can I say? Those old war relics are fun to shoot. :p :D

What gets me is how in multiplayer the games almost always end up being US vs. Germany even though there are two other Allied teams/weapon sets.

Oh well, it's fun shooting the yanks with my MP44 assault rifle, the M1 Garand's got nothing on it. :p :D

For singleplayer; Blood.
Simply because of the deliciously demented bits of humor and the freaky atmosphere.
-- ::Caleb stabs mime with pitch fork:: "I hate mimes."

For multiplayer; Serious Sam 1 or 2.
It is immensely fun to just stand side by side shooting the crap out of wave after wave of monsters.

As for a recent FPS; There's not really an FPS that has pulled me in. Doom3 was too high end to run, and I'm not into the survival horror thing anyway, Half-Life 2 is over too quickly, though the engine itself is a mighty feet of programming, etc. Only 'recent' FPS-es I really liked were Jedi Kinght 2: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Good balance of story and action.

I gotta say DooM 3. But that's probably because I haven't gotten my hands on HL2 yet.

Quake III, no doubt. I still play when I have the chance. I used to think I was good, until I played my friend. We'd always play on the Q3DM17 map and I'd always get r0x0rzed by him. It's like the moment I respawn ..."You have been fragged by JoMama"......he's inhuman. It's no fun playing with him in 1-on-1 or a small group, but when you're on the same team or with a lot of people its loads of fun. :D

All time favorite hmm....might be a tie between the first Red Faction and Metroid Prime.

Red Faction was amazing because (correct me if I'm wrong) it was the first game to let you blow up the surrounding area. It was also the first game that I had gotten to stick a remote bomb on someone, watch them run around while they flailed their arms, and take out anyone surrounding them when I detonated the bomb.

Metroid Prime is another favorite, since it's probably one of the deepest FPS's ever. not only did it include background information on the areas you went to, but it gave you data on your enemies as well. how many FPS's can tell you the best way to kill your enemy besides saying aim for the head and click?

But if I had to go with only one, then it'd be Metroid Prime

Well, my answer will be Quake (1) since, its kinf of perfect both in singleplayer and multiplayer. iv'e had a lot of fun hours playing with my friend on a LAN. since it was released.

I can't say there's a single favorite. Each have their pros and cons. I prefer Blackhawk Down for sniping, CS:S for semi-fast pace, and Joint Ops: Escalation for extremely large strategic battles.

I hate super-fast pace FPS games like UT and Quake.

Take a break every 30 minutes or so, I used to have this problem with RtCW and HL. After awhile you won't have as much of a headache as before.

BTW, HL2 rules.

Play the game in a well lit room. Stay far away from the screen. Also take short 5 min breaks every hour or so.

I only get a headache playing fast paced FPS games. The strain on the eyes ends up giving me the headache.

I'm fine with the slower paced FPS games like R6.

Soldier of Fortune II all the way! I love blasting heads and limbs off people when they are sniping. When it happens to me I jump out of my chair, so I know it's gotta do the same to them. And grenade kills are hillarious. The body is like 10ft away and their boots are just standing there, priceless.
