PS2(Sony) vs. Gamcecube(Nintendo)

My friends have fought for years over this:
Who does it better PS2 or Gamecube as far as video games?
Gamecube has better games as far as quality but PS2 overwhelms gamecube by 9/10 giving quantity(3rd party companies) over qualtiy So whaddya think about it

the only option is to forget all of this and buy all the consoles. gotta collect them all.:D

well gamesube has more fun party games and graphics...but ps2 has better fighting and action games...i would say both at a tie for me..but ive been a long time fan of nintendoo( got all systems and hand helds heh)

I meant as far as game wise the hardware on both is pretty solid('cept for PS2 overheatin which they fixed in the new one)

Ps2 mainly gets all it's support from 3rd party and lack in first party games while Gamecube it's the other way around.

Actually, the new slim PS2 have greater heating problems than the original since it lacks a fan. It is advised to actually turn it off after few hours of game play. I know somebody that fried it after playing Star Ocean for 6 hours.

As for the PS2 vs GC thing... I guess it's all about preference. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I never had a problem with my 4 year old PS2. no overheating what so ever. not even a DRE. I play it extensively averaging 8 hours consecutive a day.

This is werd, everyone says the Slim PS2 has overheating Problems, But i've never had that problem, but time will tell.

Well to me its about the Games not Systems but, The PS2 Has Great RPGs like Ys6 & Final Fantasy & Ect.....

So long story short I love them both, Plus Xbox.

i only have the GC but the PS2 is a very good system as well with good game quality, they are pretty equal but PS2 has a lot more games than the GC while number of quality games are pretty much equal for both.

yea i mostly hate xbox..i think it should burn and explode..i only own the gamecube and ps2..and even thought the ps2 came out before the gamecube.. i waited to get gamecube( cause ive been a huge fan and stick with nintendo my whole life) then bought ps2 for like 180 bucks really cheap from when it first came out...never even had a thought about buying the xbox.
but to me both ps2 and gamesube are a tie...one has sick fighting games like street fighter, capcom vs snk, king of fighters, guilty gear..... and then u got nintendo with awesome graphics and mario kart, mario tennis, and all the freaking mario partys

I don't think it really matters which one is better, but which companies support which console. Which leads to exclusive titles for the consoles and people are probably biased on what their favorite console because of the games that it only has.

If PS2 doesn't carry titles such as FFX, FFX-2, and everything Squaresoft, i wouldn't even consider PS2... and i'm sure half of the "loyal" fans of playstation would jump ship if it was all on gamecube... but reality sets in so i bought both systems. i have to say graphics is just so much more crisp on the gamecube (granted it had more time to release a better videocard) so overall, i love gamecube, but i can't live without all the squaresoft rpgs on PS2

I couldn't really choose between either. I like the gamecube for multi-player games and the exclusive games like Metroid Prime and the Zelda games, but I like ps2 for the backwards compatibility and the number of games, plus thoes exclusive to the ps2. Then Xbox for thier exclusive titles like KoToR and Dead or Alive. The way I see it, I would stick with nintendo because of it's longevity then ps2 for it's backwords compatibility. The Xbox needs more work. Power, for me isn't the top of my list, but it's still a good system.

Agree with everyone. Both consoles have things that the other hasn't. I just stick to play both of them and there's nothing else to worry about...
