No point for you to get 2 gig for BF2. You're too GPU bound to gain any significant performance increases. I have an overclocked 6800GT and went to 2 gig for BF2. Ya...I get to add a minute graphic feature on there. That's pretty much it.

What do you think my next upgrade should be besides the video?

You can go for a newer soundcard. I'm not sure how much performance you'll get from going from an Audigy 1 to an X-Fi. I'd expect it to be about as much as moving from 1 gig to 2 gig. Course you can actually use the features of the X-FI in game. You can have 128 random sounds in games, instead of 64. More tanks, explosions, etc going on.

For me, it's all about taking load off the cpu and onto the audio card. Having the 128 sounds over 64 ends up taking a performance hit. For me, moving from an Audigy 2 ZS to an Audigy X-Fi card isn't a hot suggestion. Moving from an Audigy 1 to an Audigy X-Fi might be though. The problem is, I have no way of finding out how much performance can be had. I don't own an Audigy 1 or Audigy X-Fi to run my own benchmarks and no one else out there has done it.

You can also upgrade to a set of memory with tighter timings. I'm sure for like $235 or less, you can get a 2 Gigs of 2-3-2-5 memory.

A single 75 gig Raptor.

------------

Me...after I come back from Hawaii, I'll be sporting a nice Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 GB of Crucial Ballistix DDR2, ASUS P5W DH DELUXE, and a 7900 GTX. Expensive upgrade, but I'll finally be off my freaking 2 year old setup.

Well, since your laptop seem to be quite recent still, I see no point in getting a new one, so I'd vote for getting a gaming desktop :neko:

Whats so sad about a hardrive being small when most people just install game files or movies on a hardrive? In this case mostly hentai and tenacle movies.

Cause nowadays, hdds can fill up fast. I download 100+ gigs of anime, manga, hentai, movies, etc in a month.

I didn't spend too much on it (at least, I thought it was a good deal), but I think I'm going to upgrade my video card in the near future :D

Ordered my ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP mobo. I'll be getting some Crucial Ballistix, Core 2 Duo E6600, and 7900GTX for it. Just RMA'd my Raptors, so once those 2 come back in, I'll have a 4 x 36.7 gb Raptor in RAID 0.

I'm buying it piece by piece. I know the E6600 is going to drop price in Nov when the X8000 gets released. I'll be buying the Crucial next month, after I pay off my car. Hopefully the 7900GTX drops in price when the E6600 does.

Also have to get some modding supplies. New reservoir, new chipset block, new tubing, and some case handles.

On old picture, but everything is the same, minus the addition of the 250 gig hdd and I'm using a 22" BenQ LCD instead of the 24" Acer LCD.

My old gaming rig has moved to another case and has been revived as Memol. It is now my lan party rig. Anyways...a picture of the whole layout.

http://www.afkrotch.com/Random_Pics/Setup.JPG

My server has also gotten an upgrade. Gone are the IDE drives. It use to sport the following hdds.

1 x 100 gig WD SE (system)
3 x 200 gig Seagate (RAID 0)
2 x 200 gig WD SE (RAID 0)
3 x 120 gig WD SE (RAID 0)
2 x 120 gig WD SE (RAID 0)
2 x 250 gig WD SE (RAID 0) SATA

The SATA drives stayed and are the OS drives. I put in a 3ware 12 port SATA controller and populated it with ten 320 gig WD SE drives. The Adaptec and Highpoint IDE RAID controllers were pulled. Aside from that, the specs of the system have stayed the same. You can search the thread, the specs of it are in here somewhere.

This one is to ThaEagle. What is the point of having a 7900GTX SLI if you connect it to a horrible monitor? A single 7900GTX would have sufficed. Shoot, my single 7900GTX can easily play any game I want with all the specs turned up and my resolution easily tops that of your SyncMaster.

You could have threw that money torwards a better monitor, bigger hdds, better sound card, something. Not something that's just going to be doing nothing beneficial for you. Shoot, the SLI at 1280x1024 is going to give you worse performance, then better.

Samsung SyncMaster 957p - Primary @1280x1024
EIZO FlexScan F563-T - Secondary @1152x864

This one served me well for about 5 years now <3
I'm not playing any games anymore and if, then something that my GPU can handle. One thing that started to bother me is, it can't handle any 1280p video. Looks like I have to think about getting a new PC, upgrading this one is useless u.u

You don't need to completely replace your comp to get it up to good running condition.

You can swap mobo, proc, and gpu and have a good system. You can move to a Socket 939 Athlon 64 X2, get a PCIe mobo, and a PCIe vidcard. You can reuse the other items in your comp.

Course it'd be best to replace your memory and PSU also, but the old stuff would still work.

Well, aren't CPU+GPU+MB already almost a compelte PC? the only thing that is left is a new PSU & Memory.

Besides, I'd like to have a dualcore CPU, since I mostly watch and edit videos (i.e. anime). And Intel is currently leading, unless something changed again :P
And I think for a faster CPU I also need faster RAM.

Well to move from an old AMD to Intel, you'll have to moved to DDR2. So you would end up needing new cpu, gpu, mem, and mobo.

That's why it took me so long to move from my old P4 to my C2D.

Nice rig Krotch. How's your mobo chipset doing though? Putting mobo's with heatpipe coolers into a BTX case will pretty much make them worthless and watercooling means to airflow either. I'm just wondering of what temp you get on it as I've been trying to avoid using BTX with those heatpipes for the above stated reasons. Btw, how's the noise on the swiftech pump, I've been contemlating on getting one myself. I still haven't decided whether I want to bother and put up a new watercooler since my old box crapped out and I built a new one.

My rig:

K8N-SLI Deluxe mobo
AMD Athlon FX-57+ OCed @ 3Ghz
4GB DDR400 RAM
2 47GB Raptors in RAID 1
1 300GB WD
1 400GB WD
1 750GB WD

2 7800GTXs (Currently raising money to get a pair of 8800GTXs)
Viewsonic 22" Widescreen Monitor at 1440X900

Once I get the videocards I'm going to dual boot with Vista, but I'll mostly use xp.

Its was/is an expensive rig, but I spend 99.8% of my time on the computer, so I have nothing better to spend my extra cash on. (other than anime ^^)

Actually, my case is ATX only. They just put the mobo upside down.

As for the heatpipes, they work as they normally do. The heat is transfered to the heatsink sitting on the mosfets and pulled out the rear. The heatpipes on a mobo don't use liquid inside. It's just a hollow piece of copper.

Either way, I watercool my chipset. I had to cut the heatpipe to remove the chipset cooler, but keep the mosfet cooler.

As for the pump, it makes about as much noise as a hdd. My Raptors can put out more noise than the pump.

That's why it took me so long to move from my old P4 to my C2D.Well, looks like it will take me much longer though, I currently have to pump all my money into driver's license/a car/university so a new PC is somewhere on the end of the list...

On the other side, I still have my 2 other PCs:

CPU: Pentium III 800MHz
GPU: Onboard
256 MB SD-RAM
40 GB WD HDD

and

CPU: Pentium 4 1.53 GHz (the old 423 Socket)
GPU: NVidia 6200 (running @AGP 4x cause there are no mobos with AGP 8x for that socket T_T)
640 MB RAMBUS Ram
320 GB Hitachi

Too bad I can't combine them all into one, at least not under windows, I heard it is possible under linux though....

Actually, you can build a cluster under Windows. Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003. Course with your machines and what you'll be using them for, there really isn't a need to create a cluster.

EDIT: Added another 160GB Seagate for just $19

We can call BS, cause anyone can simply say they have all those things. My server use to have a total of 8 IDE connections and 4 SATA connections.

http://www.afkrotch.com/My_Comp/Omiokane/IMG_0218%20%28Latest%2001%20Apr%2005%29.JPG

That changed a while back though. Now I have a 12 port SATA controller, 2 SATA onboard, and 2 IDE onboard. I don't have a current pic, but I do have a pic of when I was transferring over my data to the new SATA drives.

http://www.afkrotch.com/Random_Pics/IMG_0603.JPG

Ten 320 gig drives and two 250 gig drives.

Course it is funny how you can fit 14 drives into a case that only fits 10 drives. Even with a 3 to 5 backplane, you are left short.

Also a 360 hooked up to a 21" LCD monitor doesn't give you 1080p. 1080p is 1920x1080. Last I checked, your monitor only pushes 1680x1050. Which of course, is a 16:10 ratio, which the Xbox 360 doesn't even do. You end up having to set it for 1280x1024 and push it to widescreen. It of course, ends up giving you jaggies. Show should I know? Cause I use to have my 360 connected to my 22" widescreen monitor. It's now on a 19" widescreen monitor.

That's cool. I'd say it would be pretty stupid to mention space, you really don't have control over.

Like me saying something like, I have 1 petabyte of storage space distributed over the world. Course, it's Streamload's servers.

Stopped using Streamload though. Bittorrent is free and buying my own hdds is cheaper in the long run.

I didn't say all my drives fit in perfectly some of them hangs and some are on the bottom stack on top of eachother plus I did write on what mobo I had so before saying that's imposible do the research and I did say I had a addon sata with ide card on it.
The monitor I have does do 1080p but it is isn't a true 16:9 ratio (like you said). Secondly do you even have it hooked up on vga adapter? Because I can select 1920x1080 on my menu without loss of quality except the ratio is streatched vertically a bit. Just because you can't have 1920x1080 on your 22" widescreen doesn't mean I can't. Most of the cheaper brands especially those without hdcp can't do it because I went through 3 different ones.

Other note I tried upgrading to x1950 pro AGP and well my psu couldn't handle
it and now I have to get me a whole new setup. Sold most of my hard drives so I can put it towards the new setup. It's going to cost me over 2,000 dollars. Next time I'll do copy pasta on dxdiag for my specs.

Edit: This line is added. Can someone tell me how to do show/hide button so my dxdiag text wouldn't take the whole page to post Once I get my new system??

I never said having the connections on your comp was an impossibility. It's very possible. Just saying that anyone can have it.

There are no 22" LCD monitors that do 1920x1080. It's impossible. Whether you can select it on your Xbox 360, doesn't mean you can do it. Why? Cause the monitor is maxed out at 1680x1050. You cannot generate pixels that aren't available.

A monitor has a set max resolution. Regardless of what you do, you cannot go above this max. In your case, the max is 1680x1050. In my case, the same resolution. Even if you have it set for 1920x1080, guess what resolution your monitor is pushing. 1680x1050.

Ya, new setup. Sounds like a lot of horse crap. So because your PSU was crap, you are going to sell off your whole comp, instead of getting a new PSU. Sure, that makes a whole lot of sense. *is sarcastic*

Well Mr. Asshole, the reason was because it is a AGP Mobo (and it was the first rev mobo with bad chipset) so pretty much I have to eventually have to upgrade sooner or later and I never said I sold all my stuff, all but one of my 750GB HDD and my gfx card (x800xl) and hooked up my old one for times being (9800pro). Another thing my monitor is not 22" it's 21" and yes it can do 1920x1080 (that doesn't mean it wouldn't look perfect but it can do that res) because on the monitor menu under advanced and information (on the monitor itself) it shows 1920x1080 only with my 360, I first thought that was weired too since when I choose that under windows xp I can't see the whole screen, I had to scroll over.

In the end I asked around various avi forums and the people who have these Gateway monitors 21"+ said the same thing it's 1920x1080 with vga on the 360 but can't do it on windows.
If your that blatten on thinking no way that's possible, I'll get myself a really cheap digital camera take a picture and send it to you once I get paid. It's not my fault that your monitor can't do it or your little mind can't even open up to the possibility that some monitors can.

Edit: Ha here's the proof http://www.gateway.com/programs/widescreen/21_specs.php That's my monitor it shows it can do 480p-1080p. I didn't want to sound like an ass, but this post was to see what people have for specs and not to rip on eachother on who got the crappy computer but once I get my new one I'd doubt you can say that anymore. Heck, I could prob say it's way better then yours but I do have to bow down to you for the fact you have more then 1 pc..... just to let you know I'm not trying to pick a fight with you ok but the way on your first reply you made (saying bs.....) made it sound it was imposible for me to have that setup (clearified on the 2nd reply) and secondly I do know what you mean on the whole monitor res, but just because it's native doesn't mean it can't do it also.

God it's late (early... I work a graveyard shift) so I'm tired and cranky and my pc prob isn't fully fixed yet had a bad weekend, had to downgrade to get the puter runing arrg!

krotch
05-14-2007, 07:15 AM
It's an impossibility that the monitor can do that resolution. It's right there on your spec sheet.

Pixel Resolution: 1680 x 1050 (native and maximum)

Accepting the input and actually displaying it as such, are two different things. Guess what? 32" 720p LCD TVs can receive 1080p inputs, but it doesn't display them as such. It downscales it to 720p. Exactly what your monitor is doing. It cannot do the impossible.

Gosh people you have quite a fight here.

As for the monitors, the only monitor with 1920x1080 resolution I've seen that's smaller than 23" Apple HD Cinema is the one that Sony used to put on their high end 17" laptops back when they still used Centrino. I'm yet to see any other monitor that has such high resolution for its size but that just goes to say that is not impossible. This may have something to do with manufacturing cost or maybe who has a good factory connection or something. Though, again if we didn't see something it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not possible or not there.

krotch
05-15-2007, 03:45 PM
We are talking about desktop monitors, not laptop. Currently right now, it is impossible to do actual 1080p on a 21" LCD monitor. None are available, if they were, you'd definitely find something on google for it.

Like those 100" LCD TVs that Samsung makes, but doesn't even sell.

expired56k
05-15-2007, 09:56 PM
I know that krotch, just wanted to make a point that they do happen. I don't know why not for desktop but like you said, most you're just buying the size but don't really get resolution to really make it better. I used to work for CompUSA and I know what it takes to get people to recognize that fact. Just like when you see two same size tv's but one is $1000 more and people don't get why and they don't believe when you tell them that one has the actual pixels and other don't.

krotch
05-15-2007, 10:50 PM
Well, even if a laptop's monitor can display 1080p, the likeliness you can hook up an Xbox 360, via VGA cables is impossible.

OK, just finished building my new comp. It has the
Q6600 Quad Core with a ABIT IP35-E Motherboard
Radeon X1300 Graphics cards with 512m
4 sticks of DDR2 PC2 6400 at 800MHZ
Two SATA300 with 500G each.
500W PSU
Windows XP, Vista Sucks
And is built on a full tower Ultra aluminum gaming case.
22 inch widescreen monitor so I can play Starcraft2 when it comes out.

Still working out some of the bugs, but almost all done.
Oh, Yeah, and the only reason for this comp is to play Starcraft2.

EDIT, after speaking to Boing, I have decided to get a 8800GTX or GTS graphics cards when prices soften a bit, hopefully before Xmas

This year will be when I upgrade my proc and vidcard. Q6600 and who knows what vidcard. It'll be Nvidia, that's for sure. Will have to see what's available when Crysis comes out.

Some ppl like to have two burners, for like cd copying. Or you can throw in your two favorite games and never have to keep swapping discs.

Me, I'm good with one burner. All my games get ripped and also find a no-cd crack for them. I had to get one for all my Splinter Cell games, cause it wouldn't detect the game disc, due to me using a SATA burner.

Lian Li PC-75
600w Enermax Noisetaker
7 x Coolermaster clear 80mm fans
3ware 12 port SATA RAID controller

I'll be picking up a 2nd power supply for the server. Something cheap. I just need it to run half my hdds. If I plug in all the hdds, system won't even power on. I tries to, but after about 4 secs, it shuts back off.

Bought a Promise Tech SATA 3G raid controller for the four 500 gig hdds, but it causes the system to freeze up. Might hate the fact that so many raid controllers are on the system. May try turning off the onboard and see where that goes.

Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.6GHz (3325.02 BogoMIPS)

Intel i945 graphics controller
160 GB SATA 5400 internal HDD

I haven't used a desktop computer as my everyday machine in well over three years. Laptops can be a pain sometimes though, especially for a nut like me who nuked the Windows Vista partition and installed Gentoo over it.

My comp is going through a rebuild right now. Going from 1/2" ID watercooling setup to a 3/8" ID setup. Also replacing the mobo and memory.

New specs will be...

C2D E6600 (OC'd to 3.33ghz)
4 x 1 GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR2-800
Asus P5K WS mobo
2 x 36.7 gb Raptors
BFG 7900GTX
Samsung 16x DVD-RW
Mitsumi floppy drive
Lian Li V2000B case (modified)
Enermax Liberty 500w PSU

- Watercooling Setup -

Swiftech MCP355 pump
Swiftech Storm block
Swiftech MCW60 block (6800 GT/6800 Ultra brackets)
Quad 120mm Heatercore
Innovatek Tank-O-Matic reservoir
Tygon 3/8" ID tubing

I replaced the pump, reservoir, and got rid of the chipset block. I don't do massive overclocking anymore, so no need to watercool the chipset.

And there you go. The finished rebuild. I plan on getting a new vidcard. Probably just an 8800GT 1 GB card, as they are cheap and better than my 7900GTX.

Actually just looked but the BFG 9800GTX H2O is cheap as crap. Think that'll be what's going in. Geforce 280 just isn't worth it, from what I was looking at.

Good luck on OCing your Phenom. I'm not an AMD fan. Nothing wrong with their procs, but everytime I swap, I get screwed over. Tried ATI. 3 cards bought, 3 cards that overheated. Tried AMD before the dual core era. Hated it. P4s with HT were so much better for multi-tasking, even if they required cool air to be pumped into your case from Antartica. I multitask a lot more than single task. Play a game, still have stuff running in the background. They're a lot better now, but it's too late for me. No longer swapping.

I'm not gonna bother with crossfire or sli. If no game profile is made for the specific game, it's performance is barely higher than a single card. Seeing as I'm using a 22" monitor and not 30" monitor, there's no point.

I wanna brag too...

Self-Built:
Antec Nine Hundred Case w/ extra blue lights (perhaps a bit excessive but I think it's cool :kakashi:)
nVidia 680i Sli Motherboard w/ Dual Lan
Intel Quad Core CPU 2.40GHz OC
Dual nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB (SLi)
2GB RAM (I'm not a Vista user)
Windows XP Pro
Dual 400 GB HDD

I haven't really noticed any negative effects due to my Sli setup. So if you are thinking of going that way, I say go for it!

Crysis plays really well on my system.

And I most definitely recommend going with nVidia in general. I really like the control panel, it's very easy to use.

I agree with nVidia setups but probably because I'm old school and don't play the intense games a lot of you do.
Asus A7N8X v2.0 1008 bios, sempron3300 single core@2.4gh (tweaked a little), 2gb ram, dual WD250 gb hd, geforce 6200 with 256 ram and most days runs about 108 F, xp pro sp3 and a very old gateway 2000 17" monitor. My build with a lot of used parts left over from rebuilding some systems. I haven't even tried benchmarking it yet but it has been running over a year just fine.
Good enough for me.

It's been a while since i posted here...
now my "main PC" is this laptop:

CPU: Intel C2D T7250 (2.0Ghz)
RAM: 2GB 667 Ram (2x 1GB)
HDD: 1x Seagate 120GB, 7200rpm
GPU: GeForce 8600m GT w/ 512MB DDR2-Ram
Monitor: 15'4" @1680x1050

The only thing i'm not happy about is the DDR2 ram on my GPU instead of DDR3 =/
Of course it could have been better, but it was really the best i could get with my limited budget. And no, i don't think the text is too small at that resolution+monitor size (and i wear glasses) :D

This is my current laptop spec:

CPU: Centrino Duo T2400 @ 1.83GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM (2x1GB)
HDD: 1x Hitachi 120GB 5400rpm, 1x Seagate 500GB 7200rpm.
GPU: Intel Integrated 128MB (Kinda sucks when I wanna play demanding games ToT)
Monitor: 12.1 Inch

Not the best I'd like but it was the best I could afford with what I saved from my limited salary. lol

I have been upgrading it for many many many years, it started out around when yahoo came out I think. before then I had a 1988 mac

old desktop

pentium 4 2.4 ghz
60 gb HDD
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
512 mb RAM

my new desktop

I made it about a year ago.

AMD dual core 2.7 ghz (oced to 3.0 ghz, but had to mess cpu part with some tools to reconnect a part to allow the multiplier to work again)
250 gb internal HDD
500 gb external HDD
8800 GT oc (I oced it even more)
2 gb of RAM ( works fine play crysis on max settings using vista and it runs smooth still)

I currently use dual monitor display, and I mainly use my 22 inch lcd monitor for games the old monitor I use to display other stuff.

my kind of new laptop (got it a few of years ago for college)

intel celeron m 2.2 ghz
17 inch wide screen
75 gb HDD
512 mb RAM
(forgot what was the integrated card, don;t use it much for games but it's nice to watch movies with)

my very old laptop ( it's about a decade old. it was a toshiba tecra 550cdt and cost $4000 back in the day)

12 inch screen
4 gb of HDD ( hell yah 4 gigs!! I will never run out of space who needs dvds!!)
pentium mmx 300 mhz (the last of the pentium first generation)
forgot the graphics card but dam it was good enough to play quake 3 or any high end games from 1998-1999.

Pics of them

This is my new desktop setup (I haven't taken picks of my old desktop I plan to set it up next to my newer one)

my new(ish) comp. first one I ever built and owned myself. used the family p4 system before that.

4GB G.Skill pi 1066
Asus Rampage formula
1GB HIS 4870
Corsair HX-1000
300GB velociraptor

inside a thermaltake armor+

with a 24" Dell 2408wfp
and logitech z5500 speakers

pretty expensive, but I got in before the dollar crashed so I'd be paying close to a grand more if I bought everything now. :p

Some upgrades to my server, just hard drive space really.

3.06 ghz P4
Asus P4P800
2 x 512 meg Kingston HyperX DDR-500
2 x 512 meg Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR-500
3ware 9500S-12 sata raid controller
Highpoint 4 channel ide controller
4 x 1.5 TB Seagate hdd
4 x 500 gig Seagate hdd
3 x 200 gig WD hdd
4 x 1 TB Lacie usb external hdd
600w Enermax Noisetaker PSU
Lian Li PC-75 case

Looks like I'll be needing a new PSU now. It's starting to die. My server use to have 20 hdds in it, but I've been slowly replacing the drives with the 1.5 TB drives. I pulled out six 320 gig hdds, two 250 gig hdds, and five 200 gig hdds. I use to have the 600w PSU working in tandem with a 300w Enermax. It worked, but looked ghetto as hell. Will probably add in another four 1.5 TB drives and call it good after that.

The externals are my backup solution. Save the data, then turn them off. I haven't passed 4 TB in data yet, so I'll be good for now.

About time I posted my desktop setup in this thread.

OS: Windows XP SP3
CPU: DualCore Intel Pentium D 820 2.80GHz
HDD: Maxtor 6V160E0 160GB 7200 RPM SATA-II
RAM: 1GB DDR2-533 SDRAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache 512MB
Monitor: AOC 17" LCD

Audio: Realtek ALC883 High Definition Audio Controller
Mouse/Keyboard: Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
Network Adapter: Realtek RTL8180 54M Wireless LAN Network Adapter
Router: D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router

As you can see, it's no monster or anything, seeing that I got it, like, over 2 years ago and all. Might add some extra 1GB RAM but not so soon since it's not really necessary for now. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the current settings. :)

well, the actual one is a spare pc, too much crap for mention it, except for the fact that, (miracle, miracle) it's still working :p :D

but i'm saving and collecting for spare parts from six months, so i'm almost ready for start to assemble something a bit better ..... aka my last "nightmate monster" pc (well, ok, compatibly with the actual conditions and prices here, at least ..... not all the countries sell tech stuffs at cheaper prices like US, after all :D)

parts i actually got are these ones:

MB: ASUS P5KPL (not the better one, but the only one that i can find at reasonable price)
CPU: Core2Quad 6600 (again, is a question of price, but this one i know work decently)
Cpu cooler: a modified Thermaltake copper unit (changed the original 90 fan with a 120 one, and made some flow conveyors with mylar foil, that took temp down almost 10 C more than the original with the fan that work at 900 turns ..... practically impossible to hear :D)
RAM: 2 x 2 Gb Kingston 800MHz banks
PSU: 600W PFC ultra-silent "big-fan", with a personal modification, also this for the noise (i hate noisy computers :D)
500 Gb SATA2 HDD mounted in a 4 disks array (yes, i'm starting with 1, but count to add some internal others til 4, when i can afford them :D), cooled with another low noise 120 fan
Nvidia 9500GT 1GB VGA (more than enough for what i need :p)
Samsung SWM cd/dvd burner
last acquisition, a decent cabinet with a 3-ways thermal controller integrated (i got it for practically nothing, cause the termal unit was not working, and repaired it myself :p)

now, assembling all together in the few free time ..... maybe in few days i can get it all assembled, installed and working :neko: ..... (bet some of my pc games can run a bit better on it, than on my actual P4-2800 with 1 Gb of ram and 256 Mb vga, huh ? ..... :D)

oh, i had also a NB, some months ago, but lend it to gf for a pair of days, and never had it back, so think i cannot considerate it mine anymore :P :D

I don't have a persocon. I use my brother's but more or less, I know what the specs:

~A yellow-colored cover Gigabyte motherboard gaming edition - worth $99
~Intel Single Processor 3.04 Ghz - don't have money to buy a new one
~Ge-Force 7000 series 256 Mb - this is a bit old, but it's still capable of playing DMC 4
~2 Gbs of RAM - We got 1 Gb for free. My nii-nii helped one of his client and got this for reward
~DVD ROM combo - don't have any marks on it
~HDD... : 250 + 80 + 40 + 40 = 410 Gb - Every hardisk has it's own OS. But we mainly use XP SP3 Pirated Edition
~What else? Oh, right! A free wallpaper from XP Pirated Edition! A nicely made skull with two crossed-sword behind and some hidden words around the black area.

In addition, we MADE this persocon by ourselves. Nii-nii has taught a lot of things about this. My bro's such a great guy, isn't he?!

Edit: FYI, they're all running WinXP Pro. Wirbelwind has a 320 gig hdd with Win7 installed also, but I don't have it in the comp. Kind of finished playing with it. They all have some kind of dvd-burner, minus Omiokane (yes, I know it's spelt wrong). File server doesn't have much need for an optical drive. It just sits there.

I thought 1.5 TB Seagate hdds was a product failure? Some say that it need firmware upgrade in order to run properly. Well Window XP is probably the best for now.

Early 1.5 TB Seagate hdds had issues, but the latest ones don't. Mine work perfectly fine.

You know what they say, it's the inside that counts ;3 Anyway i sit here with a 15 months old HP M9180.sc-a

Graphics card: Nvidia Gforce 8800GT 512 mb i think (not sure bout mb)
RAM: 3.0gb(dunno what type though)

Processor: Core 2 Duo e8400 (Not overclocked)
Motherboard: MSI G31M3-F
RAM: 2GB DDR2 @ 800
GPU: Inno3D Nvidia 9800GTX+
Hard Drive: 500GB Seagate Sata, 80GB WD IDE
CD/DVD-ROM: Samsung black CD/DVD Writer
Case: Generic case lying somewhere

I bought everything that was mentioned above about last year except for the GPU. It was originally an 8800GT. It apparently didn't last for 2 months and had it go under warranty due to some chip problem they were talking about. First week passed, I was supposed to get the replacement but they didn't have it. I then waited and waited then a month and a half passed I got pissed . Then the day after, I angrily complained about the replacement to the point that I've almost scared that lady at the desk. 2 days later then they gave the replacement. It says 9800GTX on the box. That made me somewhat satisfied for all the waiting and then when I got home, I installed it etc etc then ran the GPU-Z application. To my surprise, it registers itself as a 9800GTX+ even though the box clearly says 9800GTX.

It's the standard Laptop we could get 50% off at college :)
I don't use CAD yet, but I will have some subjects on 3D modelling coming years...

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance it had while gaming btw :)

Did you try to change commodore basic 2.0 for something more powerfull? For example DOS? :)

Man how can anyone in 80 years can work with something like this. It was a great machines but i can't imagine how to use a computer with 64 kB RAM! Ouch 32 pages of text and ram is full...
