Just come here to Germany and you can find plenty of them...more than enough for you.(was on a con yesterday, filled with girls in cos and the same last weekend.) So I guess it really depends of the country you live in...Good luck to you though...

^find an anime that she will find cute, and something reasonable, that isn't too off-putting
if it's cute and not too over the top, she may be willing :)

I saw some here in Sweden, ofcourse theres a lot of babes around here. But just those who got the idea of cosplaying was really ugly. No offence to them but it was like those hmm.. how should one explain it.. Cosplay of Horrors :P

Why don't you go to those conventions...alot of girls cosplay there...and about getting your gf to cosplay...don't even risk it, something bad'll happen.

Then just do it like me, move to Germany. Nothing easier than that...
But I have to keep my eyes open for girls in cosplay while I am in Finland(will be there for three weeks)

lets just say that Australia would be the same as NZ, but with a little more people doing cosplay, but none of them are ever any good.

there are anime conventions everywhere (more depending on where you go). I think there are a couple in australia. Anime convention = cosplay. The only place you'll ever see cosplay on the streets however is california ;) (I saw one anyways xD). My point being, go to an anime convention, that's the only place you see people cosplay.

Not really true ^^. I went on the street along with 10 cosplayers to terrorize the streets :D. (And to find food :p) We even went shopping in our cosplay outfits. It was really cool to do, but it was really cold :p. (Krim cosplay and 10 degrees Celsius :P)
And it isn't that hard to get a girl to cosplay. At the con where I went to (Netherlands, Enschede, Acon 2005), about 1/3 of all the girls (about 600 girls at the con) were cosplayed.

or you could probably try to negotiate by doing something she wants you to do

You probably have a better chance of meeting a cosplay girl if you yourself cosplay. Cosplayers, especially girls, are wary of hooking up with drooling fanboys because they know they are dangerous, but hooking up with a fellow cosplayer is usually their dream so they can plot out all those "couple cosplays" they've been wanting to do.
Ah, yes forgot to add... if you don't cosplay you will not stand out from all the other guys that like to drool at cosplay girls. Also just be aware that if you do succeed at getting together with a cosplay girl she will likely pick cosplay preparation over spending time with you anyway particularly during convention crunch tie. Rohypnol is what you want. With Alcohol they might be sick all over your lovely Doraemon outfit.

Even if that was meant as a joke, it's not very funny. There actually have been quite a few instances of cosplayers getting raped.

man...Rohypnol...that was totally uncalled for...well, it's not too bad in Singapore, coz some high schools (we call them junior colleges here) even have anime clubs, and i think one of the best few has a cosplay club...and some of the cosplays are pretty good...
PS: after some analysis, i find that most anime chars are based off japanese facial features...(i don't think anyone would say that Robin from Witch Hunter Robin looks Italian...) so i get this feeling to get the most look alike cosplays, u got to be japanese...

if you got to atlanta in september ther will be a huge anime convention called AWA
(anime weekend atlanta) this year they are expecting over 2000 people to show up...usually its insane...last year we had over 300 people enter into the female cosplay contest...so many people they had to break it down into categories...and we had some tetris blocks and an ash/w a person dressed as a pikachu and walked around with him on his shoulder...ther was also a full cast of ff7,8.10 as well as kingdom hearts minus disney chars..and many many more most of them are females though.....there just cosplayers filling the streets and all...its freegin awsome

cool...percentage wise, we have more anime fans here, but i think the prob is most people here don't like to cosplay coz they are afraid of being laughed at...

Well, it really depends on what the outfit is.
If it's something cute and not perverted, then it should be easy if you give it time.
After showing my 9 years old sister Kanon, (not the 18+ game...heh..) she started to use the word "Uguuu~" occassionally.
Now, if you mean leather swimsuit wearing lolicon nekomimi maid of death, that's something completely different.

Here is my suggestion. Start getting your girl outfits (not cosplay but just sexy outfits). Then one day slip a cosplay/anime outfit into the mix. When she is used to modeling all kinds of outfits for you... it shouldn't be too difficult.

One day when browsing through anime sites i came across the most dreaded thing ever. It was the cosplay that is man Faye    thats was scary :D . Plus if you need alcohol to get a girl to take her cloths off and put other ones on then you need to work on your manly charm :D . Nah just joking simply ask the person to try it on and see what they think  .

its a shame but its so true...when i went cosplaying at this last convention i had soo much fun me and an alucard... had a huge gun fight in the middle of the con...people should try it more

How to get a girl into cosplay? Anime and money. Still, I agree with most people, it's easier to just go out and find a cosplaying girl already. Chances are if you cosplay too they'll notice you better, the better your cosplay, the more they'll be drawn to you.
And if you go to Anime Expo, for example, you'll find craploads of cosplaying girls, no kidding.

Who did you dress up as?
Well as being a girl myself, basically just make us happy and proud that we can cosplay for that character, we want guys to go all over us so we get lots of attention

i live in Australia and i see plenty of chicks in cosplay and i'm one of them try taking her to an anime convention like SUPANOVA or something then she will see that there's nothing wrong with cosplay and that it's perfectly normal.
or tell her it turns you on then she will be into it quicksmart.

Well, it really depends on the girl. I have a few friends (girls) that are into anime like me, and would LOVE to cosplay. (myself included!) I have other friends though that would recoil in horror at the very mention of cosplaying. Everyone's different!

You should try showing her some anime (nice neutral stuff, nothing too over-the-top) and point out the character you think she would look good as. Explain the character and let her watch the character in the anime. You might also want to show her pictures of cosplaying people and explain that she won't be the only one dressed up! :D If you let her warm up to the idea, maybe she'll give cosplaying a try!!
