I'm sure you all have a song or two like this. Currently, my anthem for my life and the situations and drama in it is Rilo Kiley - Portion for Foxes. I completely identify with every word of this song. In fact, the entire album 'More Adventurous', I feel was written for me for just the situations in my life right now. It's what I've been listening to on repeat because it has become the anthem of my life atm. Post yours. Maybe give details as to why it touches you so much.

Portions for Foxes Lyrics
Artist(Band):Rilo Kiley

There's blood in my mouth 'cause I've been biting my tongue all week
I keep on talkin' trash but I never say anything
And the talkin' leads to touchin'
and the touchin' leads to sex
and then there is no mystery left

And it's bad news
Baby I'm bad news
I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news

I know I'm alone if I'm with or without you
but just bein' around you offers me another form of relief
When the lonliness leads to bad dreams
and the bad dreams lead me to callin' you
and I call you and say "C'MERE!"

And it's bad news
Baby I'm bad news
I'm just bad news, bad news, bad news

And it's bad news
Baby it's bad news
It's just bad news, bad news, bad news

'Cause you're just damage control
for a walking corpse like me - like you

'Cause we'll all be
Portions for foxes
Yeah we'll all be
Portions for foxes

There's a pretty young thing in front of you
and she's real pretty and she's real into you
and then she's sleepin' inside of you
and the talkin' leads to touchin'
and the touchin' leads to sex
and then there is no mystery left

And it's bad news
I don't blame you
I do the same thing
I get lonely too

And you're bad news
My friends tell me to leave you
That you're bad news, bad news, bad news

You're bad news
Baby you're bad news
and you're bad news
Baby you're bad news
and you're bad news
I don't care I like you
and you're bad news
I don't care I like you
I like you

I'm in love with someone I know I shouldn't pursue. He is my shoulder to cry on and my pillar of strength, but I'm afraid of losing everything I have if i pursued it. I'm not good for him as his expectations and ideals of relationships are very different from mine. I'm afraid of losing him completely. I'd rather have a platonic friendship than lose everything in order to pursue a relationship that may not work. The feeling of love and admiration is mutual as is the fear.

My anthem is "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
- - - Harry Chapin, "Cat's In the Cradle"

Still cry to this song

right now it's "Komm summer tod" from the neon gensis End of Eva sound track.

"I wish that I could turn back time
cos now the guilt is all mine"

and a bit of john miltons paradise lost

"For who would lose,
Though full of pain, this intellectual being,
Those thoughts that wander through eternity,
To perish rather, swallowed up and lost
In the wide womb of uncreated night,
Devoid of sense and motion?"

resons are rather personal though.

Whatever song the DJ called life is serving up at the moment.

right now it is non-specific elevator music.

Haha, My anthem? Deffinately would have to be Industrial Twilight by Kovenant
As some of you know, this is the song that I will play during my overthrow of the government, lol

12. Industrial Twilight

United we stand in shared perversion
The love of death - The paradise of Hell
This infinite limbo, like a great black engine
Ultimate abomination, no one here gets out alive

Let the posion arrows fall
Let the pillars of "heaven" crumble
Martyrs to no one but ourselves
We are the rusted pillars of a better tomorrow

Give me your crippled hand, and I?ll drag you into evolution
Compassion is obsolete, the answers are no longer true
To many sides to chose from, fascism in masked control forms
Paradise...prepare for deconstruction

Welcome to the radiant silos of Atom
Man-made misery, the perfect anti-life
Divine radiation, the corruption of flesh
Ours is the God of nuclear winter

Synthesized evolution of tomorrow
When we tried to become, the world turned negative
You were the words in my mouth
When I was just trying to save their world

Welcome to the radiant silos of Atom
Man-made misery, the perfect anti-life
Divine radiation, the corruption of flesh
Ours is the God of nuclear winter

"Once I was the carrier of wounds,
featherless and without direction,
Never a saint nor a saviour,
relentless in my search for a higher existence...
In a nuclear war...All men will be cremated equal!"

Hmmm...I think "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. I just really like this song for some reason, it rings true in many aspects, especially the chorus.
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly..."

"Breakaway"

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could break away

[Chorus:]
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes til' I touch the sky
I'll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

[Chorus]

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway

Well, there are a few songs that I've always liked the words too...I like how Meant to Live talks about people needing to be true to themselves and living their lives to the fullest. I like One Day One Dream because it talks about making your dreams come true. :D

Meant To Live by Switchfoot

Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he's bid for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly, fly

[Chorus]
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside
Somewhere we live inside
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside

Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken, broken

[Chorus]

We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than the wars of our fathers
And everything inside screams for second life, yeah

We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live
We were meant to live

One Day, One Dream by Tackey & Tsubasa (Inuyasha 5th opening song!)

(You can now dream)
Weild a brave dream,
(I'm in a world,)
and I race past the uncertain world.

It beomes saddening
Fighting against reality.
A hero is growing
From within my heart.

I saw a dream last night.
And the image it left me
struck a pulse and told me "let's go!"

Defeat your own (color) and your shell;
Will you keep a growing future
Locked up against its will?

(You can now dream)
Weilding that brave dream,
(Go in and try) Though troubles
aggressively try to return,
I'll go towards endless days along with you.

(Do you need to cry?) Are you crying again?
(Show me a day, fight!)
Your dreams will become firm
Each time you fight lonliness
and the tears fall.
*

Have confidence
Stronger than the strongest man,
And determination
More resiliant than any metal.

Aim a bullet from the heart
at the cowardice,
And pull the trigger; it's fine if you do.

The power that held me was bushed aside,
Do I once again turn back to
A past that has been broken through?

(You can now dream) A brave dream;
(I'm in a world, and) That's the only weapon
That can surge past
The uncertain world.
My doubts have vanished to another day.

(We can't know...) We've struggled this far
For the goal of the crown.
We're painted in a dream,
There are so many things beyond the new day.

A vivid wish;
A glittering map
with no barren land
is taking us to our yearnings this day, also.

(You can now dream)
Weilding that brave dream,
(Go in and try,) Though troubles
aggresively try to return,
I'll go towards endless days along with you.

(Do you need to cry?) Are you crying again?
(Show me a day, fight!)
Your dreams will become firm
Each time you fight lonliness
and the tears fall.

Hm, I don't really have an anthem of my life, more like songs for the moment. The following song by VNV Nation (http://www.vnvnation.com/) is one of them.

Perpetual

Find it in you, raise your eyes
Look beyond the place you stand
Towards the furthest reaches
And to the smallest of things
The sound you're hearing
Is the symphony of what we are
Revelation will not come
With heart and mind closed and divided

No need of sun to light the way
Across the ages, we have reigned as we endured
Through the storm fronts we will ever surely pass
To stand as never ending light

Throw away the mantle
Awake from your uncertain hesitation
No way to describe or equate the feeling
No end to what is at your command
A million thoughts run through you
Concentric circles, ever greater
But you have always known
That this is not all there is
To your questions there'll be answers

Let there be, let there always be
Never ending light

my anthems have to be mr. torture by Helloween, just a little sign (also by Helloween) and dreamside dominions by Dimmu Borgir, as well as several other death metal songs.
