G4... What Is It Good For!? :)

Now I'm curious... due to a recent conversation, I discovered that there are some people here who are OVERLY critical of G4.

Now let me set something straight here folks, YES you can hate on the G4 EXECS for killing off Tech TV! YES you can hate some of the shows like Street Fury which really have NO REASON to be on this channel.

But by NO MEANS should you hate on Adam Sesslar and Morgan Webb, the two remaining people standing from the ruins of what was once Tech TV, and frankly, give G4 a MUCH NEEDED character boost! Before these two, the only other people who really seemed to have PERSONALITY on this channel was Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas, who I would LOVE to see go toe-to-toe with Adam and Morgan!

Then there's Diane Mizota, been around since the start of G4 and until they tried to blend the original Filter with Tech TV junk, she was good at what she did! Now it just doesn't work as well!

And then there's that girl who replaced Corey Rouse on CHEAT! which reminds me A LOT of the old GamePro TV show with J.D. Roth! However, now Cheat is more like GameFAQ TV, except I can not STAND that woman! So annoying, obnoxious, and thin like a TWIG! Someone PLEASE FIRE HER!

I also miss Starcade! That was a classic gem that could only have been on G4 and now is lost again to the winds until the grassroots DVD takes hold!

Pulse has fused with Screen Savers and is now Attack of the Show, which isn't that bad except that I can NOT stand Kevin Periera! The guy is just a JERK! Of course, seeing him and Adam Sesslar go fist to fist is rather amusing. :)

The Street Fury and Whip Set shows... send them back to Spike TV WHERE THEY BELONG!

Judgement Day and Electronic Playground... good!

X-Play... BEST show on G4 right now! The humor, the biting sarcasm, and the sheer geekdom of it is simply HILARIOUS! What's more, they get BORED during the summer doldrums, and actually MAKE CRAP UP on the fly for their shows! They got a FREAKIN' MONKEY just because they were bored and needed an episode of SOMETHING!

In short, I want IN on that action!

Sure anime fans hate their guts because they don't like games like DIGIMON WORLD 4 or DBZ: SAGAS... BUT WHO CARES!

Those games... SUCK! In fact, they suck Dragon BallZ!

Yes, I might be ridiculed for that remark, but SO WHAT!? It's a BAD GAME! When you start designing crappy play mechanics, boring repetition, and a story that will put you to sleep before you can regain control... THOSE ARE NOT GOOD THINGS!

Already, two people X-Play has recognized as REAL BUTTHOLES OF GAMING:

and Mr. Overly-Long Cutscene Creator

Those people SUCK!

So now I want to get your opinions! What do YOU think about G4?! Do you remember back when Portal and Blister were on the air?! And let's not forget such classics such as Sweat and Players (which might still be on, but at what time... no one knows!)

Vent, rant, do whatever here! See if I care! I just know that for the time being... X-Play is good... it's one of the FEW shows that is still good on G4, and Adam Sesslar and Morgan Webb do not deserve your hate mail!

G4 is in a good memory for me. Lately i was watching it only for X-Play and yes sarcasm there is HILARIOUS, tho it doesn't cross the line of personal offense. i think Morgan and Adam are talented actors and they make a really nice couple...as a host couple XD. Too bad the a guy from the intro with his voice like in Wrestling shows has left, a new one is deffenetely not as good as the previous.

...So i'll go with X-Play!!

Yeah, I do have some really fond memories from the early days of G4. They had some really stylish ads, much better than this "Graffiti, car pimping, hip-hop vibe they've got in their ads now. Just doesn't sum up G4 like it should!

And for those who hate G4, can you post WHY you hate it too so we can get both ends of the spectrum? I know you're out there! You just voted on the poll!

G4 doesn't do much for me. I like the Icons series and Sessler and Web are fun (X-play wouldn't be anything without them), but those two shows can't save an entire channel. Tommy Tallarico annoys the hell out of me (I wanna kick him in the nuts every time he opens his mouth so there's no chance he can ever breed) and Victor Lucas doesn't have presence enough to counter Tommy's annoyingness (is that a word?) so Judgment Day and (to a lesser extent) Electric Playground are out in my eyes (Jade Raymond is too hot to totally write off EP). The Whip Set seems like it's trying too hard to be cool and Cheat would be good as a smaller segment in a larger show, but doesn't deserve to be a show in and of itself. Attack of the Show was more interesting (at least to me) when it was the Screensavers and Filter is just...i dunno...something is just off with that show. Overall, I wish they'd bring Tech TV back and just keep X-Play, Icons and Jade Raymond along for the ride (at least Tech TV had some @&$#ing variety in their shows).

hmm...X-play and Icons are good, but what happened to Cinematech? Cinematech was my favorite. Its the best show to see some of the games that you might have missed

Actually, Cinematech is still running strong and still has new episodes. You may not know you're watching new episodes because, well, there's no host! But I get the G4 newsletter and keep my eyes peeled and do see new episodes of Cinematech! That show REALLY came through by having a collection of ALL the tech demos and previews of all the new games at E3! Wicked stuff!

Cinematech is the show that's stayed the most focused and pure of the original G4 shows, along with Judgement Day.

Filter WAS good, and Cheat! used to cover more than one game per episode back in the day. However, when they started adding tech reviews and stuff for Filter, THAT killed it! Filter was, and always should have been, a top 10 games show that stuck ONLY to games!

Cheat! was never as good as it could have been because of Corey Rouse. The guy was a spaz! However, then came the new girl, and she's just prissy and ANNOYING! The only time I can stand listening to her talk is when she's NOT ON CAMERA and actually talking about the game. This makes in between segments PAINFUL!

At least Attack of the Show got Happy Tree Friends on TV!

X Play is funny gives ups and downs of game.....is the best shown besides Attack of the show. AOTS gives u info in interesting stuff not useless crap... oh yeah Happy Tree Friend hilarious and so full of gore :D . Other G4 shows r good, but in my opinion this r the best

Ahhhh yes, ever since I realized that G4 was a crappy gameing station I've basically stoped watching it. Although, I admit the first time I saw Filter, I was like, "Wow, the host is hot!". Judgement Day pissed me off ever since there review of Suikoden, A modest rating was given because the graphics were too "anime-ish".
I hear good things about X-Play but I've never actually sat down and watched an episode from start to finish, I liked pulse to keep me up on New Releases and Industry happenings, Cheat is a funny show and the host does a good job, but they sold out to pringles. Although the funest show to watch was the MMORPG review, where this guy (forgive my ignorance, its been along time since I've watched G4) would talk about an MMORPG and then do something crazy, I remember one time when he went outside and started asking people if they would hunt wolves with him. I laughed.
I haven't seen the whiped series, but it dosn't seem to go over too well here so I won't assume much in terms of quality.

since noone will say it i think that i will. some people dont like g4 because they sell out hollywood. g4ia, formula d and the wip set (the fast and the furious) the new host of cheat. they try and sell video games buy saying 'hay lil john has an xbox why dont you.' or 'hay look at this game its got boobs and fan service buy it, but make sure you get it from eb games.

ive been watching g4 since it first came on and my favorite show is still x-play i dont know how they do it but they keep it funny and entertaining with the old gaming referrences and sarcaseme.And it helps that morgans incredible gorgeous

I like Judgment Day and Icons. Icons reminds me of Big Thinkers, a old ZDTV/TechTV show. Since the take over i've been watching ALOT less of the channel and downloading some Canadian Call for Help.

The reason I watched G4 at 1st was bcoz there're no programs I wanna watch on other channels at that time :P, but I do enjoyed x-play, ICON and judgement day(not bcoz of the host, but the comparison of upcoming games). Missed TechTV very much >.> though...but G4 sure produced some good results like I'm pretty happy with the report during E3 2005.

X-play is good. But I wish that they would go or a out of 5 system to an out of 10. 3 out 5, etc. just seems really vague.

I loved TechTv it was my favorite channel, Extended Play, Screen Savers, Call for Help, Future Fighting Machines, and of course, Anime Unleashed. But G4 walks up and kills them all, the only shows that are really left are anime unleashed but that is on a whole lot less, and and X-play which really is sorta sad compared to Extended Play which was only about the games, not crappy dialouge between the only 2 people left from the ashes of TechTv. Besides that, G4 is the most biased piece of crap i have ever seen, it is as if they are owned by EA. They were praising the Batman game that came out with the movie as, and I quote "Splinter Cell, meets Metal Gear Solid." nuff said.

I wish G4 would actually talk about upcoming games that matter and not do whole hour episodes on Phsyconauts or Jak 3. The only time they do any kind of relevent game reporting is when the game company actually says ok well its been out 6 months now you can talk about it. **** G4! I've always hated them for ruining techTv, then again **** techTv for never making good on thier deal to put one of thier hostess' in Playboy. Everything is bullshit! I'm gonna go write ab emo-song about how i hate my dad and **** Hilary Duff now.

I miss Tech TV... the only things I watch now are X-Play (not much anymore although I still like it), Attack of the Show (it's interesting atleast), Icons, and cinematech. Other then that... g4 is trash. The Man Show is on it...!!!! WTF Does that really have to do with tech and games???? Some of it's programming is just there to grab other people... or certian peopel atleast and not all the people that wanted to watch it.
