Cosplay: Need help building a weapon (HALCONNEN 30mm)

Hi Guys^^

I'm searching for a construction plan for the Halconnen 30mm Anti-midians-cannon from the anime HELLSING.

Does anyone has construction plans ans/or experience building such a weapon? My girlfriend wants to cosplay Ceras Victoria, so she needs the Halconnen... And wanted me to build her one instead of a birthday gift...

I searched in google for a long time, but did not get any sharp pictures of the halconnen. Even with this, you'd be a great help!

well that actualy depends of how much u wanna spend ill suggest some plans:

1)low budget: Just saw off some brooms and some boxes and u get ur halconem in no time

2)Mid budget: the canon can actualy be a sawed of 6 foot pipe (selled on hardware stores) if its metalic could make the weapon too heavy, pvc (plastic) pipes are more situables, but u have to paint tem prety well so they dont look too crappy, the grip can be made using sand paper and a good saw notice that well polished woods looks like metal, details should be carved by hand too. so basicly paste the canon to the metal body.

Never use pipe for fake weapons because aside form being heavy, depending on how much of the cannon is in actual working order. You can get introuble for it. I suggest making it out of wood. Go down to your local hardware store and buy 1" dawls and sheet of balsa wood for the barrel and muzzle break. For the receiver I suggest foam. Polystyrene foam is carve-able and can be sanded smooth, just don't get aggressive with it. Make sure the barrel runs through the whole receiver it the foam will break under the weight. After finishing it just paint the whole thing in gun metal gray metallic paint

Yes, wood is a much better idea. Metal tends to make security and police nervous. Nervous cops and Security can be a bad thing.

I was going to suggest 1/16in alluminum parts connected by rivots as it would cut down considerably on weight while looking quite realistic, but it seems the consesus is to avoid metal at the moment, and Shragei's idea seems almost as good and far easier(and safer) to implement. The only problem I can see is the issue of weather or not you can find correctly sized pieces of wood that aren't so heavy as to make it impossible to hold straight.

Edit: How big are you planning to make this thing? I just looked through the manga, and if you want it to be of the same scale, there's no way you could use wood for the barrel and still keep it within a managable weight. The barrel needs to be hallow for sure, either strong plastic or thin alluminum. Solid foam with a thin wooden dowl inside to maintain the shape might also work, but it wouldn't look very good and would probably be quite fragile.

yeah that's wat i was going to say, i just mentioned common material, because while heavy metal is quite easy for work on, yeah of course if we have all the time AND money in the word we could use carbonfiber and titanium XD, wood is particulary nasty wen it comes to make complicated and/or big forms....

I would go with what you said earlier Waka23 with the broom sticks.

The only problem would be to hold something of that length. Your girlfriends gonna need to practice balancing with a cosplay weapon like that B
