Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

This is not so much a story as it is a slice of life. Or rather, it is a look into portions of the life of a girl named Alpha, together with the people around her. Alpha runs a little cafe on the outskirts of Yokohama. There are almost no customers, but Alpha does not mind at all since she has the occasional company of the old man who runs the gasoline stand down the road, as well as that of his grandson Takahiro. This is a Yokohama of the future, when the sea covers most of the land and roads have disappeared under sand or water. Alpha is in fact a robot, looking after the cafe during her owner`s indefinite leave of absence. This is one of my most favorite shows in my collection. If you've read the manga, then you'll already know what to expect from the OAVs.

A total of four files
2 OAV's from Yokohama Shopping Trip.
2 OAV's from Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country cafe.

Lisa really likes YKK... I think YKK is a really good manga and it's
not getting that kinda attention and popularity that it deserves...
Anyway thanks for the post... it's really hard to find YKK stuff online...
(does this still count as a thank you post mods????)

It's a great series because it's willing to do something very few storytellers do- talk about everyday life. No one gets into hilarious/dramatic/angsty scenarios every day of the week- instead, we deal with our feelings bit by bit, every day. That's terrible story material unless the author is really willing to get the details just right.

I'm sure people will disagree with this, but I don't think this story could ever be a television series. Instead, the OAVs highlight the manga without being necessary.

These OVAs are cool, but the manga is where it's at. I just wish the torrent was seeded, plenty of peers on here:

pls seed me! see this thread.. (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44578)

I have 12 volumes of the manga found in London's awesome second-hand Japanese bookshop. Only £11 for the lot. Now if only I could read them. Pls help out an avid YKK fan. :neko:

btw, i really don't like Aria, the story is boring and the drawings are suck :P YKK is the shizzle.
