I've always had an interest in ASCII generated art, you know, where they use letters to make pictures. Well, I gave it a try. I made a few crummy/unrecognizable/just plain crappy pictures...in other words, I had fun. But I wanted to learn how to make those really good ones where everything is, like, awesome. :D And since I'm lazy, I did not want to put an effort into it.My solution?

ASCII art generators! Yay!!

With these babies, you can turn any piece of art into
(insert super cool text of "ASCII art" here)

Well, I actually couldn't do that because Hongfire seems to do weird things to multiple spaces (like delete them...) so I couldn't really show you...

But have no fear...I have uploaded an example of the ASCII generator working its magic. Not only that, I have uploaded the ASCII generator that I used

I would also like to thank Jonathan Mathews Software for providing this beaetiful piece of software.

P.S. Would anyone know how to get a color ASCII generator by any chance?

It seemed to only work good on Anime pics, my GT4 pics I took came out pretty bad :P

Although I think it might be better with some tweaking, I need to get it to try and text it up with more resolution.
Other than that, it works great! I always knew those people didn't make those ASCII pics themselves :P

There was a program out there that was exactly like this, and it could do color, etc, as well as let you congifure a lot of values.

Yes, Radeonator and Tornberry are both right. I have a program that does exactly this, but can't remember its name, so I cannot find it! ^_^
In the meantime, check out this: http://www.text-image.com/

Color ASCII art? How would you get it to print in color on the line printer? :)

It is not the multistrike (multi-pass overstrike) line printer art we grew up with printed from our mini and mainframe computers. The B&W version at the website is single-pass. The color version is basically an overlaid mask of alternating "0" and "1" characters set to the most predominant colour of the part of the image they are covering up.
