A must play game. I enjoyed this game a lot.

The only two downfalls are the size of the game and the endings.
The size is about 7 freaken gig
Though some endings were good, the bad endings had a little too much animation.

I recommend going directly to 0verflow's site to get the demo movie and not the anime on the torrents section here... The translator himself said there were lots of grammar and translation mistakes in the file... Since you'll be needing to listen to the dialogue (prior to patch 1.11) or at least be able to read the japanese text (subtitles added since 1.11) you'd be better off getting a feel of the game via getting the demo from the japanese site.

Don't worry. There should be seeds from the look of it :) The torrent has been alive since May and there are currently like 10 seeds 70 peers now.

P.S. I don't think the torrent was really 'uploaded' and started by the person posting this thread. He just replicated what was already on the datorrents site. The original torrent here released on April 28 has still some seeds and peers but too few as it's not being advertised or posted. I urge all to use the datorrents one.

The Demo is the one where it says it's >700MB. Can't remember how much exactly but it's like 720MB. Also, there might be a reference to "episode 2", which is what the demo is about.

There have been numberous reports. What display card are you using (details pls?), have you updated your drivers/BIOS? Try also to fiddle around with the different option combinations.

My ATI Radeon Mobility 8MB on a PIII 1.13 IBM notebook worked!

This game is weird, I've have only played it once. After I restart pc the second time the loading takes forever. And after I cancel the loading, it will never load again. This happend on two different pc's. I reinstalled it a couple of times afterwards with no use. Loading window just don't come up and the HD goes on forever.

Well, I loved it, though the lip-sync is kinda bad at parts, and the sex-scenes are just repeat-animation(you can get the same from gif) with voice overs...
My first ending was 永遠に... I felt kinda bad after that... But my next few endings were great! ... Till I arrived at 鮮血の結果... ... ...

After which I promptly turned back to 永遠に and watched that "splat" screen ending a few times...gosh that felt good!

Unfortunately... no the new torrent with working trackers is different from the HF original torrent... the files are individually RAR-ed, so the only way you can help is redownload the file and seed for longer afterwards ;)

LOL, I got it to work. It was loading for at least an half hour before it goes into menu. But after a few hours of gaming, I've stumbled into the next problem. :( It got stuck in episode 4.

Edit: Do I need the 1.11 patch? Does that fix any errors?
Edit2: I had to ignore every line in Episode 4, getting some chick to talk with me on the roof and then I survived Episode 4 :). So If someone got stuck in episode 4. :P go back and chose some other stuff.
Edit3: I'm starting to lose hope for this game, another error in Episode 5 in train, I will post later the error pic.

Edit4: Patched the game to 1.11 and it won't even load the save game from Edit3. Maybe it fixed some bugs?

The error being in gibberish can only mean that the .exe is not running in a japanese windows enviroment...

AFAIK, 1.11 changes some of the paths to some of the endings, and adds in inbuilt japanese subtitles(selectable from the options menu).

Yes changing to japanese "non-unicode" support (rather than the region) is needed. Mind you, I have everything set to Japan/Japanese on my comp :) (escept the timezone)

I'm still seeding for now but I am running insanely low on HDD space now...

7.XX GB for the installation folder and 7.XX GB for the ISO. *sigh*

Dont have a Dual Layer Burner so I had to seperate the ISO image burning to 2DVD instead, but in order to play the game I need the DVD inserted X-x...

There should be a dummy .iso file floating around... There. Check attachments. Bear in mind that this dummy iso was for the old torrent on HF... not bundled together with this one, though i think it should work. (1.11 patch wasn't out then yet, just 1.07 so try it out)



Dont have any problems playing the game though, still in Ep 4 though. From the other forum topics some of the endings are really twisted... I hope I dont encounter those X-x...

I believe everyone should also play those endings to fully appreciate the game storyline :) different sides of the same story (you can see things that happened at the same time while you were playing another route but no video was shown (of course) because you weren't present.)

Don't think a savegame would help very much... though you can select the endings and play all 6 episodes as a replay... but will take too long to watch the common parts over an over again... this game is different from others that have a 'scene' mode. it's just different~

I assume you have tried different combinations of the graphics settings, as well as newest drivers/BIOS?

Yeah I do unfortunately, Im getting a black screen from chapter 4 on for almost every other scene. And unfortunately I dont know enough Japanese to understand what the config menu is asking besides the first 2 drop down boxes. Im running an Nvidia GeForce4 4200 TI with the most recent drivers (August 11th). I have all the boxes checked in the config, so Im not sure what everyone else has set up, perhaps you could let me know and Ill try that.

Well considering most patches have to be installed after youve installed a game first, the answer to your question is yes. As far as doing anything special for it to run, so far it just depends on how luck you are. Many of us get the wonderful black screen of death but everything else works completely fine. Make sure you have a fast enough computer and a good graphics card.

Just one I think:

It says to vary the settings for YUV textures around.
But from personal experience, it's best to try different permutations.

I haven't installed the 1.11 patch... so mine is still at 1.07.

You should really try first ... :)

MDS files are handled by alcohol, and it automatically looks for the I01, I02, I03 files, the details are transparent to windows and the user. What the user gets is a DVD9 loaded in the virtual drive. There probably no other way to load the image.

To all those who have been having black screen instead of video or misplaced video: This is game's bug. Capital B BUG. I had an athlon XP 2500+ couple of weeks ago and an X800 Pro radeon video card. I had two Windowses - one japanese and one not japanese. One of them had black screen, while the other had misplaced video... (game patched to 1.05, 1.07, not patched) Then a couple of days later (i did nothing i can remember that could cause this) I ran the game just to check up on it and it was OK on my system which was giving me black screen! So you need more luck than anything else to get it to working.
One more thing - the codecs - if you have none the game fails with an error, if you have some weird one the game plays audio only. I've tried messing up with wmp6cdcs.exe (WM9 for WMP6.4) and wmv9VCMsetup and WM9Codecs.exe (three differend codecs for windows media video) and nothing changed. Always black screen. Then as i said earlier it just worked one day i don't know to this day why.

Daemon Tools supports .MDS files. So, yes.

Technically you use DT to "mount" the image, then you install the game normally.

I decided to Stop seeding due to the possibility my Image file is corrupted.

Guess that chance would be quite low? You should already know BT has hash checking of individual pieces and the whole thing in the end. Just use a good client... besides, people would ban you after getting corrupted pieces anyway :) won't contaminate everyone?

However i must say that i have not yet tried playing from this torrent. I had the original HF torrent which runs smoothly through all the scenes i played (1-6) in several routes.

months and another patch later, nothing changed here. even had to DL it again because of a corrupt partition table, not really fun because we have data transfer quotas on our lines here.

clean install of winxp pro corp (no service packs), alcohol 120%, soundblaster live drivers and nvidia drivers. asus a7v600 mainboard, amd 2000+, GF4MX (ti4200 died). still the black screen, using an original winxp instead of a SP2 edition didn't change anything.

I'll "borrow" my brothers ATI card and see if that makes a difference :mad:

yup... I felt that way too when I figured it out. I was launching the game for the thousanth time, not really paying attention, busy with other things because it probably wouldn't work anyway. and suddenly there's something on my screen!

there's little activity in the fansub group that released the first (demo) episode. there's still the difficulty of all the possible paths the game has and the great amount of work that needs to be done. to be honest, don't expect a translation soon. great games that have been released for years (air, kanon) even don't have a translation (and never will).

if the game gets popular enough, a translation might get done.

I've finished the game in 2 days, it's great. can't wait to check out some more storylines. the H-scenes are imho sucky though, and the girls have those HUGE breasts which totally turns me off.

Those are nice, although the FPS seems a little too slow, makes it seem unnaturally choppy... The price of getting it to around 20 KB, I suppose. But I think there's also potential to make a looping animation with what you've done.

That was a nice scene in the 2nd opening. Kind of reminded me of the second El Hazard: Wanderers opening (but a little more restrained than Wanderers). Fit the music nicely too. Hopefully I'll actually see that scene in the game when I play it...

No I don't think so. Somehow I installed in one language and am playing now as Japanese Region + Japanese non-unicode. Works perfectly :)

Get a virtual CD/DVD drive software like alcohol or daemon tools (DT is free. Google it). Then mount the .MDS file to the virtual drive so school days thinks it's installing from a DVD drive. That's all there is to it...

I would say yes. The game eats a bit of processing power so unless you have a pretty decent system i.e. P4 2.0 and up with 512mb ram it wouldn't recommend it.

Subtitles can be toggled in-game by the options menu. You do know which one this is, right? (oh yes, it says in English). Then subtitles is the first of the three On/Off things you can toggle in the stuff near the centre/lower part of the screen.

If you mean an H-Scenes replay feature like other H-games, then no, it does not. You have to make your own save games if you want to be able to recall specific H-scenes without playing the game again. When you beat the game, a replay feature opens, but from my memory, it just plays the game through from the beginning, picking the same choices you did in your save game.

As for how to use that particular walkthrough, think of it as those match lineup things in sports...you

start on the left and run into your first choice. What you pick leads to the next one, to the next one

and eventually you'll reach an end.

If you don't want to keep the images on HDD, you can get a 'dummy iso' image that is <1MB in side and fools the game that the DVD is in the drive. Just use with your ordinary image mounter...

I've installed the game and it runs on Windows 98 (wee) but there are SOME problems.

The required files install nicely, but at the end of the installation an error occurs because it tries to make a shortcut with a japanese filename. I just had to end task the installer to fix this little problem.

However theres problems starting at Ep 4, debug messages appear in the game and theres either no sound or it stops progressing at some point (not freezing)

I heard the 1.11 patch can fix this but heres the problem. Because the install didn't finish properly I probably lack the registry key that the patch needs to find before the patching begins. I've tried to extract files from the setup but I get stuck at trying to extract the cab files.

Is there a way to get past the check for the installer or a way to extract InstallShield .cab files? I've tried a bunch of programs already (Self-Extract Archive Utility, packsetup2, Servant Salemander, Winzip and rar, AnyZip and some others) but none of them could open the .cab

The cabs that contain the files I need are from data1.cab and data2.cab
If anyone finds a way please post it or if you can send me the patched files via MSN,AIM or some messenger then please PM me. Thanks.

I forget the characters' names, but that's the one where the girl you try to get to like you (at the beginning of the game) goes insane because she's so hung up over you, she flips out when you decide to end up with that other girl (who's been helping you to try and hook up with the first girl). Since she can't have you, she decides to go postal and kill everyone including herself. As I recall, this was the worst of the "Bad Ends" in that game.

Sad, intriguing, and bloody... but interesting. I think the lesson to learned from all this is: never give an overly jealous girlfriend chainsaws for Christmas -_-;; Or I guess, don't show favoritism to girls in your harem. Be fair and bang them all the same number of times :)

There were around 20 different endings -_-;; There were just about every type of ending you could image... everything from ending up as merely sexfriends, harem, through getting everyone killed. Actually, now that I think about it, I guess even getting people killed is a pretty standard "bad end" nowadays. Anyways, I played this game several months ago... so I'm probably not the best person to ask (I un-installed this HD hog long long ago).

*Edit : Actually, I'll reinstall School Days later this week to go through the endings again... a friend just watched the fan-made anime-port of the in-game footage and he wanted to see the various episodes/scenarios. I'll post a full list with summaries after I refresh myself. It'll probably be a long post -_-; *

I wonder if you can manually add the registry keys that the game requires. What keys are they? Perhaps we could help you copy out those keys and values. (perhaps the keys were supposed to be added after making the shortcuts.)

Yes I guess. it's like that for me. I suppose they could not redraw characters at all the different resolutions and magnification levels which would add too much to the work. Try fiddling with the options though. It might have some effect... Not sure.

Considering that the save files for the endings repeat all choices that you had chosen to get to that ending, and that there are often more than one path you can take to get to that ending (and even more: the cutscenes you get to see would be different to in the episodes 2-5) it would be relatively unfeasible to post just the saves for the endings... since you would be only seeing part of the story.

(P.S. I said part of the story because as you play different lines and use different choices, you get to understand what had happened in the background at the same time that you hadn't known (as the player) when you were playing other lines)

I'm having trouble installing the game. I loaded the MDS file into Daemon Tools, and it runs the Japanese installer, but then it suddently stops and display a lot unintelligible punctuation marks, after which I have no choice but to exit the installer. I have tried it with having Japanese as the non-unicode language, changing input to Japanese, setting Region to Japanese, and the location to Japan as well. What am I missing?

Edit: I open the MDS with IsoBuster and it seems like the problem is due to the MSI file in the disc.

you have to burn it on two DVDs then load it back on your hard drive to use it unless you have a dual layer burner and disk.

you have to zip it into two parts if it's 1 big ISO file if it's a group of MDF MDS files then you burn half on one DVD and half on the other

Finished DL this. But I'm having a problem trying to unzip each file. Everything is going okay when unzipping but when it reaches near completion at 100% a small menu pops up saying the file is corrupted and the file that shows up after it's been unzip has nothing in it basicly file empty.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm unzipping the files using WinRAR. Or maybe my DL of School Days mess up?

My errors were caused because this game requires a good graphic card installed into your computer. It was a DirectX error that used to appear until i installed the video card from my other computer to the one i am using now.

This game have good sides and down sides. The good side is that is unique since it since it is like video mode. You only have to sit and watch the animation with voice and you can put the Japanese subtitles to go on to help you a if you know little of japanese. You can also pause it and the animation stops only when you interupt it or when choices appear.

The down sides are that you cannot rewind it but you can go to a backlog to see what they said in Japanese sentences. Another downside is that even it is totally animated it looks kinda crapy compared to good ZyX with short animation games. There are too many pan ups and it takes to long for a short speech. They speak too slow. I don't know if the love meter works. Sometimes i make it full one side and it ends with the other girl at the end of the episode.

The storyline is more like a love complex of multiple triangles. Like she likes me but i like someone else and so on. But i really feel bad for Kotomoha. She is always bullied and she was even dumped twice by the guy. Girls usually say that guys are all bad because they are indecisive but after playing this it is more like being decisive can hurt people more than being indecisive and nice because the guy doesn't want to hurt any of the girls. This main character just once like one girl, he becomes too insensitive and dump the other ones without care or cleaning up the mess completelly.

lol. Mine was bloody too but the ones who really deserved to be bloodied were the one that bullied her but it never happens to them.

Actually i didn't like any of the girls. All of them were BAD! Every girls except Sekai bullied Kotomoha.

Sekai was a little better than the others but she was even black mailing me at the begining of the game. Then blaming every missunderstanding to me and next telling Kotomoha just to go away without taking concern that she started the mess giving the one you love to someone else.

I really feel bad for Kotomoha. But really girls get really scary when they are jealous. Her biggest problem was that she was too sensitive. She would take a joke seriously. Don't want me to touch her but after getting jealous getting all over me. I guess she is the only one i could pass on specially for her shyness and sympathy because her school life was really sad.

I manage to get the installation to go smoothly by forcefully reseting the non-unicode settings (select another language, reboot, reselect Japanese, insert CD to rewrite, and hopefully everything runs smoothly) Hope it helps.
