Ys 6 was liscensed to Konami for American release. It came out earlier this year, though.. Very late.

I have come to the conclusion I like Ys 6 much better then 7. But that's probably just me.

Just made a glance at falcom website and noticed that they already made remakes of Ys 1 and 2 for pc. It's nice to hear that also the third chapter has been remaked, BlankVoid!
I also found a site with a full translation of Ys1 for pc and a Music addon. It also contain an "in-the-making" translation of Ys2. Both games must be the "Complete" versions to work, as explained in the site.

I'm very happy that finally we got jap-style rpg's for pc too! I mean QUALITY ones, not all that crappy things (with some rare exceptions) released until now. But most of those "rare exceptions" are still in japanese... :(

But the real thing in a pc which gives you a chance to play recent games is the graphics card.
Your system SHOULD be ok for this game, but you also need a recent (2/3 years old should be ok, mine is a Radeon 9000 and it runs any game) gfx card.

- Fixed a crashing bug during the fight with Guilen.
- Fixed a bug which allowed ATI Tray Tools (when running resident) to prevent the game from starting.

on Ys6 I just use an english guide to play it and i beat it. probably we just need an english guide to play this too.

No you don't. I have to say that Ys6 was harder in that it required more exploring in the game to acquire several items (finding pikkards was in Ys6 I believe). Then there were some items you had to revisit bosses to acquire.

YsF, you just had to follow the basic storyline (you don't need previous knowledge of the Japanese language). It wasn't hard. The bosses were hard though.

But it all comes down to the level you are at. Typically, level 52 should let you beat any bosses in either game (except Madjunan...forget his name in Ys6).

Well, I was hoping to understand the story, that's one of the reasons because I like jap-rpg's... ;)

And "beating" a game with a guide is not a real pleasure for me, I like to play games and beat them by myself.

Well, it seems that Ys6 will be translated by Konami (or am I wrong?), and Ysf maybe will get same treatment (I crossed my fingers).

Anyway I'm trying to get Ys1 & 2 complete now, so while waiting for the newer ones I can enjoy these two :) (Ys2 translation is still not 100% complete, but I hope it will be in the near future)

I agree with Blank about the exploring part. Ys6 had more areas to explore and the game took longer to complete for me than YsF. Difficulty wise, I also thought YsF was harder because of how Falcom decided to not let you have an item slot during fights. I also noticed you actually had to make good use of your rings too as you acquite them. Saying that though, that's why it's even more fun :D Especially when you finally beat the boss after dodging everything it throws at you :p

Story wise, they're pretty average and unoriginal. Your bad vs evil, guy from an ancient race, a sealed evil awakened. Just like the last game. Still, it binds the game along nicely.

Somehow it feels like Falcom skimped out on the artwork in this game. While there was more FMV in Ys6 and beautifully animated, the two in this game seems just... plain. On the other hand, music is still great :D

I thought the PS2 version of Ys6 was pretty well done (though I don't own a copy myself due to the fact that I don't have a PS2 in my possession).

Ys6 didn't take nearly as long as YsF did for me. I mean, I did acquire 98% of the items (missing one that required the pikkards I believe)...but the bosses and leveling were just too easy. YsF, on the other hand, had strong bosses to begin with. Dulan took me several tries to beat as did the boss following her (I'm not very skilled by the way).

Though, Ys plot does seem a bit cliched, I still believe it's pretty good. The artwork, in my opinion was very well done and the music also. It's just like what Viper said, Ys was always short. It shouldn't take someone more than 10-15 hours to beat.

Hmmm... As far as I know, only the cutscenes were done in 3D for the PS2 version of Ys6. I just suggested it as an alternative to the PC version since there's no English version for that yet.

Can't wait until ED6 2nd Chapter is out :)

You can play all level in story mode [but can't time record mode] and cam play Boss Rush in all Level and you can use DEBUG mode

F2 - for 1 level up
F3 - for 1,000 gold
F4 - for 1,000 Ravaal steel (used for weapon power-up)
F5 - restore HP to max

and you can change Elena Costume in config mode by right on Elene

In fact you can use debug mode after you clear boss rush in nighmare level with out die

Anyway I don't expect an original story, as after playing Xenogears I never seen ANYTHING (movie, book, game) with a more original storyboard. After playing it I thought I made a terrible mistake, as all game played after seemed to be so...simple (always talking about story)! The only one which impressed me alot, for story (also if it is mostly a "classical" one) design and "feelings", was Valkyrie Profile. The intro makes me cry...sniff! :(
Anyway as you see these are ps1 games, as I onkly own that and a pc but not a ps2, so that's why I'm so interested in the pc version.

I seen that OST's for Falcom games are VERY big! Maybe I'm wrong, but I seen a soundtrack composed of a 6 cd set, just for one game! (or 2, but it's always 6 cd's!)

I get an odd error after using the latest patch. I think it was something like missing a data file but the file was there. I've uninstalled the game now after finishing it in Hard, though.

As with most Falcom games, you can find most of the tracks in the music folder. For YsF, you can find them in the game folder under Release/Music. The files are in OGG format and if you drag them into Winamp you even have all the track title names.

Nothing beats the actual CDs of course ;)

Just to reply to Kren's post. I haven't played Xenosagas but yeah, I can't think of any game off the top of my head that has an original storyline. Unless of course, it's based on a good Anime.

The Ys series is an action RPG. You level up, buy new gear and fight in realtime. Just like all Ys games though, the gear is very limited. However, the fighting are always very fast so you need quick reflexes - especially during the boss fights. That's what makes the games so much fun :D

Out of the 8 soundtrack CDs of this game, only 1 is actually the game soundtrack. The others are CDs containing music from Ys3.

"ED6:SC" is Eiyuu Densetsu VI: Second Chapter (Legend of Heroes VI). It's a sequel to the RPG released last year, Eiyuu Densetsu VI: Sora no Kiseki. There's already some bits of info and artwork posted up on the site now.

I'm going to try to find it when they released ED6:SC. I have been more of a fan of ED series than Ys series. For the fact that ED tends to take more time and is more fun (in my opinion). I know Ys is great but sometimes I don't like slashing enemies for hours.

Also, it can be implied that there were to be a sequel to ED6. There are too many things left unsaid. It doesn't seem possible for it to be released this year. Hopefully, the game will be released somewhere in the start of 2006. :D

With the game unpatched, I opened the ysf_win.ini file in Documents and Settings/[User Name]/Application Data/Falcom/Ysf_Win. Under the [game] section I had the following lines:

GameFirstPlay=1
GameClearFlag=3
GameClearFlagNightMare=1

Then while you're playing the game:

F2 - for 1 level up
F3 - for 1,000 gold
F4 - for 1,000 Ravaal
F5 - restore HP to max

Now if you load up a saved game or start from scratch in story mode, it should work. Doesn't work for Boss Rushes, though.

I don't think Daemon can cause this problem(But it's the best if you use Alcohol).

you have to have the game installed with Japanese Non-Unicode Setting. to play it you also need to have it on Japanese Non-Unicode setting (why do i emphasize "non-unicode"? i see alot of people thinking "japanese settings = japanese regionnal settings... maybe not you but iono just to be sure). I use alcohol, but daemon should work too...

could it be you don't have recent directX? doubtful but iono, ill just slap out anything that might cause a problem.

maybe you didnt install it properly? iono, try install again under jap non-unicode.

maybe u didnt update video card driver? pretty doubtful...

maybe the copy u downloaded is broken? uhhh... (prolly not since if you can extract it then it should be fine. but try rehashing the file see if it gets back to 100%)

Have you tried making sure the image is mounted in the same drive you installed from? Also tried enabling all the emulation options in Daemon Tools?

The Regional setting in Win XP shouldn't matter since I have mine set as UK. Apart from that I have all Supplemental Language Support checked and under the Advanced tab I have Japanese selected.

Another question to ask. I have a translating program whcih is Atlas (got it from hf-loli) but i have no idea how to use it even though i read it alot of time! Really bad with instructions ><~!

Uhh, the archive in the torrent extracts to an ISO file. Use DaemonTools or Alcohol to mount the image. The autorun program will pop up and it's all go if you have your locale in JP. If not, then just exit the autorun and launch the setup manually with AppLocale in JP mode. Then use AppLocale again to run the YsF Config and YsF game. Just make sure you have East-Asian language support installed.

It works too, if you haven't updated too much. Since the patch that added very easy mode, mini iso made that way (same name, autorun.inf, ico) doesn't work anymore

1) For those who're having problems with mounted images after installing the patches, get both the 1101 patch and the 1203_VE patch, then install the Very Easy patch, then 1101 on top of it. They'll both work, but the game itself will run.

Ok first we need more information in order to help you. What kind of computer do you have ex I have a p4 winh a nvidia 5200. Second what do you mean bye nothing happens when I launch any exe? doese this mean you cant open word pad or anything elce on your pc? Did the image mount successfully? and if any error messages pop up please post a screenshot. Doese your computer even try to run the game ex you click on it the cd drive spins or the screen go's black for a moment then nothing happens.

ok so i have a amd xp 2200+ 1,8ghz , GF4 TI 4200 64mb ( this config works perfectly with Ys 6 and i have no problem ).

When i say "nothing happens when launching any exe" its when i double click on config.exe or any other .exe( i can open ani video/songs or pad on the directory ) really nothing happens like i dont launch the game.

to get that program just go to www.microsoft.com and search for microsoft applocale.
after you install that, i think its pretty easy to use it.

I still get the same error message.

I'm running Windows XP x64 Edition, if that helps at all. Perhaps I need to find the 1.2.0.1 patch? I've been looking, but I'm not having any luck due to my lack of knowledge of Japanese. I didn't think it should be an issue, though, considering I used the 1.2.0.3 patch.

It won't work with the 1.2.x.x patches, you have to use Patch Ver.1.1.0.1, because this is a dummy disc that is smaller than the original.

Uh, maybe it's because of x64.
Maybe there is some issue with old programs and 64 bit cpu, like there were with pentium 4 and hyper threading.

Try update EVERYTHING on your pc (Windows, Motherboard drivers & BIOS, gfx card drivers, etc...), maybe you'll have more luck... :(

I am having a huge problem, I got daemon tools 4.0whatever and I just finished downloading this game

I installed, but the game woulnd't run. So I un-installed and install japanese/korean/chinese characters (was about time ^_^;;)

I un-rar the .iso and I mount the iso and it's still showing weird signs but no actual japanese characters (Something like "F@!%8*^@$&" but in even weirder)
and when I run the setup file, I get a warning right away.

Any idea how I can fix this? I installed anyway, but even patched the game won't run.

I'm just wondering, what happened to actually seeding when you are done. Every time i see im connected to a seeder(which has only been when someone leeching finished) they have only seeded for about 30 minutes to an hour before going away. I could have been done last night, but the 2 seeders I was connected to stopped. I know this because the 2 current seeders I cannot connect to for some reason.

You need to first get the sword from Chester and when you have that, simply smashing his shield will do I believe.

That battle is easy in the first round, if you got Chesters sword its nothing more than a hackfest. Its the second round which is tough since you can only attack him at certain moments.

NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN I RUN .EXE FILES

Tried to run the game on two different windowses xp with japanese unicode turned on (Asian lang support is installed) and applocale japanese turned on (tried using them in the same time), using Daemon Tools and Alcohol..

My DirectX is fully up to date (28 update is installed), my video card driver has no need to update, my system rank is much higher then in the listed requirements (P4 2.4, GeForce4Ti 4700 128, 512mb 2700)..

Oh.. Almost forgot.. That mega patch 1.1.0.3 was tested too on every combination I tryed..

What sould I do ? How to solve the problem ? HELP! x__x

The amulet (60000) automatically recovers Adol when he dies, choose wisely when to buy it though as the price doubles for a second one.

The robe, I believe, recovers HP gradually when you stand still.
The first charm allows you to walk in the shallow lava, the crystal allows you to see fake floors in the castle.

The shoes make you not slip on ice and the bells allow Adol to lethally damage two very tough, annoying undead normal creatures (they respawn when you leave the room and will keep on resurrecting if you don't have the bells).

This is my problem:

i've dowloaded the game. Installed all Japanese stuff for windows (it works, i can play many japanese game like all Illusion game). Tryed all patch and crack.
I've the config menu perfectly, i can configure, but when i try to launch the game, my screen is black and come back to windows without any error message.
I've tryed all possibilities, with patch config ect....

My config:

Xp SP2 (french) with japanese local and unicode
Asus P4p800E-deluxe
P4 3Ghz Prescott
1024 ram Kingston Dual DDR
Nvidia Geforce 7800 GS (drivers 84.21)

I can play ED6 and Fantasia Sanguo 2 from Falcom with No problems, but Y's dont want.

If someone know the problem, perhaps 7800 GS is not compatible.

-Format and reinstall Win XP.
-Exchange graphic card 7800GS against 5700

Result: ALways the same thing (black screen and come back to windows without message)

The games works. I've proceded with elimination :

Start Xp with no SP. Install all driver and soft and windows update. I found the probleme, its my Codec pack, i use satsuki codec pack. If i install it the game dont run, after desinstalling the game work, i think its a probleme with OGG Vorbis codec.
I didn't this before with first winxp reinstall because i used Ghost image with all driver and soft + codec install. So i cant put my Ghost image and desinstalling Satsuki codec pack.

You don't need a DVD drive to play. You can mount it on a virtual drive, with a program like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%.

Also, I think you are mistaking what the NoDVD patch actually does. You can play the game with a DVD drive or without it, and you don't need the NoDVD patch at all. All the NoDVD patch does is make it so you do not have to have the DVD in the drive to play, or so you don't have to have it mounted on a virtual drive.

Hello. I'm new and I have a question. I apologize for bumping an old topic, but I just recently discovered the awesomeness of Ys ~The Oath in Felghana~ via playing it a few weeks ago at an anime convention. Anyway, my original question was how do I get this torrent to work, but I figured that out through hours of troubleshooting! lolz :neko:

1) Just download a program such as Aszerues(requires Java Runtime download) or BitTornado.
2) Double Click on provided like by first poster
3) Windows will either automatically run one of the aforementioned BT Clients or you it will ask you what to open the torrent with. Just browse computer and select whichever client's Exe you want to use if Windows just select it automatically.
4) Save to a folder. It should begin to start connecting to seeds(hosters of entire game) and peers(other people in the process of downloading)

Just to let you know, these programs allow you to set your download/upload rate. You tend to want your share rate go above 1 so that everyone gets files quicker. Also, don't close torrent right away. Common courtesy for any torrented file is for the downloader to at least "seed" aka host the file for a bit so everyone gets a chance to finish up their downloads.

I'm new to so I hope the forum forgives any errors in my explantion and torrent advice.

About the keyboard. My logitech controller is broken so I gave in and learned to play with the default setup with arrows and z,x,c,v setup. I actually adapted pretty well after a few hours. I manage to complete all difficulties with that setup so while uncomfortable at first it is very doable. The biggest problem for me was using the Arrow Keys for direction with my left hand. It felt ackward. A combination of laziness and stubborness made me lern.:)

Yeah, I already have the game downloaded and played it using the keyboard. I'm not really a newbie to bittorrent hehe. It's a really fun game. I know I could probably play with the keyboard, but I'd much prefer to use a controller like the first and only time I've got to play this game.

Yes i had same problem too, then i found out that you MUST equip that damn amulet, I thought that was done automatically. Go to the equip screen, where you can equip your weapons and armors and look at the last equip section, the amulet is there ready to be equipped (if you got it ofcourse). You can get the amulet from a box. You don't need to pass the first lava section to get it, it's before it.

I install the game but i can't get it to run, when i run the config tool or game itself. I don't see anything happened. Just a quick sandtimer and then nothing. When i check if there are any running processes there are none.

At first the game it worked very well with AGTH and ATLAS (of course, using the window mode, AGTH doesn't work in full screen)

however, after some seconds , like you sees in the screenshots, the bottom of the game was black and soon the game crash .

Downloading the japanese language pack and setting your regional/language settings is different.

Go change your computer's settings to japanese. It's in the control panel assuming you use windows.

That's the full game, yes. The 4GB iso just has a ~3GB junk file that updated game versions usually need if you want to run them.

Not an issue if you have a nocd patch, if you ask me.

Actually, wrong. The update patch looks for the full DVD, like pointed out above. Somebody around the internets posted a way to go around it, and it worked for me:

I own YsF, but after reading about the pirated copy where data.ne was removed, I decided to test some stuff out. First, I ripped the ISO like normal, but using UltraISO, I removed the data.ne file entirely. With this image, YsF didn't work. So I generated a completely blank file with Fsutil. For those who don't know how to use it, I input fsutil file createnew C:\data.ne 3221225472 into the command prompt. This generated a 3gb junk file. With UltraISO, I put this blank null file into my YsF image into /YSF_WIN/RELEASE/
When I ran YsF again with my new image, it worked.

SORRY NO NEED FOR HELP, the game only works in my PC if I use the ysf_1203, that trick with UltraISO really helped a lot!!! Now it's just wait for the english patch go free, at that time I think will not have any bugs because the donors will point all of them

actually, the coding to some of the pages on his site cause the window to resize, and Windows keeps your default size a little bit smaller, the end result is that his site and your Windows are constantly resizing the page :P thus the shaking, if you resize your window to the edges of your desktop (not Full Window mode) but manual resizing... it should stop, but ya, its a matter of coding on his side conflicting with our Window...

deleting the cookies too works :P

You have to use the v1.2.0.3 patch, just do this trick that Tiburcio told me, this really help and you don't have to bother with nothing else:
