Some tips for the game:
Your hitbox is very small, around the neck of the characters. Go to options and enable the top yes/no choice to show your hit detection as a flashing red square. You will only be hurt there.
Many projectiles can be punched to erase them. Additionally, if you activate terrible air with button 5 you will be invincible until the attack comes out. Keep in mind once you are in the attack you can still be hit, so don't try to charge through bullets even though you do move very fast. The explosion resulting from chains will delete projectiles, so as long as you hit enemies first you're straight. If you hold forward and shot after activating terrible air, you will do an EX shot, which goes through everything and takes a good amount of one health bar off bosses on contact, can do additional damage if it stays on them. Bosses are not hurt by the 'charging' attack, but punches work well.
Create large chains with your punches to earn goodies. Around 30 enemies from one chain in easy mode will give you health. It ramps up for difficulty, of course. Use terrible air on larger groups to activate fever, which floods the screen with bouncing eggs for filling gaps between normal enemies for bigger chains/just punch em soon as they come out so they don't get a chance to attack you. You can get a few more points if you can have them stick around until the next good chain comes, but move very erratically because they randomly shoot at you.
When enemies explode in a chain, or when you power up your attack/pick up a feather, surrounding projectiles are deleted. Also a good amount of damage is dealt and it starts chains just like punches do.
To EX punch push the direction of the punch after pressing punch. Up for the uppercut and forward for the forward punch. Big stars fly and a shockwave from your fist if you did it right.
To quickly recover punch gauge push back after hitting an enemy.
Max health is 8 for easy, 6 for normal.
Max lives is 5. Good places for extra lives are the red frog, gold/silver frogs (Try hitting them both with EX shot), the area in day 4 with rings of pteras, any time you happen to score like crazy one time after another.

Nasman, airrade summer was released.. last summer I believe. There was also a brief period of time when they released Airrade Winter as a free download, but that was very brief. I know I have summer at home somewhere, and got it from Hongfire maybe 2 trackers ago. I don't remember if I have winter or not.

On a side note, can anyone provide some basic gameplay dynamic explanations? I never knew how to really play the first one. There's 3 ways to attack right? Shoot, and the 2 punches... I don't get how the punches work, so could someone explain that? Also, are there any special things to know about? Do you get bonuses for getting close to bullets, etc etc. What's the bar next to health (I'm thinking that's not health.... a recharge bar for the punches?). Oh, also, are there any graphical changes I can do? Starting it in a window, etc etc. Thanks folks

Hmm, let's see..
The forward punch sends enemies straight, while the uppercut will make them go in an arc. If the enemy hits another, a chain begins and you get big points, health, 1ups, etc. On easy it takes about a x30 chain to receive a heart. The colorful big meter is your punch gauge. Forward punch consumes 80%, uppercut 40. If you hold back after punching it recovers the meter quicker! The left shoulder button, or button 5, will activate your EX punch/shot. You need full AIR meter to do it, and it will consume most of it, but it recharges quickly back to 1 notch under full strength. Press the button and hold directions to guide your EX punch. For large chains on EX punches FEVER is activated. This sends tons of random monsters bouncing around the screen that can fill the gaps between standard enemies for even larger chains. Press the button then hold forward+shot to fire the EX shot. About the very top meter, it seems to be a multiplier of sorts. x1-10 and it raises when you shoot enemies. No idea what it's actual function is tho.

OPTION MENU
Bottom option seems to turn character portraits on in selection screen. The top yes/no option is a small red flashing square for your person. You'll only take damage if a shot hits you there (regardless of whether the option is on/off), its the neck of the characters, so you don't need to avoid things with your whole body, and simply touching an enemy or boss won't hurt you, you'll just make a cute noise, but no lost health. The very top option is a difficulty selection.

General non-spoiler advice: be sure you've got the latest patch, set the difficulty to easy and start beating the main game with everyone you've got. When a new mode pops up, try clearing that too if it's feasible with every character you have, whether you've already unlocked someone through them or not. If someone doesn't seem to yield anyone right away, turn the difficulty up and try it again. And don't waste your time looking for Michiru because she's not in there yet as of writing; there'll be a patch later.

If you're having trouble meeting any of these requirements, I can give you one piece of advice that I found very helpful: the only boss you have to beat is the last one. If any of the others have attacks that you absolutely can't handle (hint hint), try waiting for the timer to run out on the first attack and you'll never have to deal with them. Good luck!

There are 3 "Winged" characters in char select screen. I bet they'll be Kanna, Winged Misuzu and Yao Bikuni (Maybe) So far I got Haruko, Keisuke and Summer Mode.

Is that true that this game doesn't involved save file? I removed mine and it still ran as my current setting.

neozf's right, apply the patch (http://www.mails.ne.jp/%7Estudio_siesta/download/air2_0724Patch.zip) or even if you do fulfill unlocking conditions you won't get anything(I played a hundred or so games like that, which led to a bit of frustration). It's also a lot more humorous with the dying noises from some of the animals, and easy mode is not so ridiculously hard anymore. The new music on stage 6 is nice, too.

lol not sure why I waited this long to ask this, but keyboard wise, what's the key config? I can't actually access the config inside the options menu, although that might be because I'm not using a gamepad? As far as I know, there's the arrow keys, and then z, x, and c. Z is shoot, x and c are punches, and if you press both its the EX shot? Maybe. Am I missing anything? Matthias mentioned a button 5, but I'm not sure what that corresponds to.

Oh, another thing. There are descriptions for the different attacks for dif chars on the select screen. I know yowai is week, tsuyoi is strong, hayai is fast, and omoi is slow. There's another one... I think it's like futsu or something. What's that one?

Don't feel bad if you feel it's too difficult.
I've played the other Airrade games and beat them with ease, but i'm losing quite miserably on this one.

I did eventually beat it with Misuzu on easy difficulty but it took a lot of practice, patients and time.

Victory will come eventually, just keep going for it.

Aiy, why is it that it's so much easier w/ Misuzu? Granted, my game crashed before I was able to finish playing w/ her last night... but I got to Day 2 I think w/o losing a single continue, and still having like 6 hearts (whereas I usually only have... 1 continue or 1 heart by then. Yes I suck.)

ok... ive read through the entire thread and im surprised no one else has had this problem... but i seem to be, and maybe you are all doing something im missing??
anyway this is my process-

i mount the mds. file for the AIRRADE game - using Daemon Tools and i open the virtual CD drive
i see the setup and bunch of a other things - i double click to try and install,
but everytime i try to open it theres an error reading:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

I have no problem with the game. I can ran it smoothly even with the patch.

To me, the game was quiet challenged. If you have problem with the boss, just let the time over on the boss's 1st pattern. Note that the only hard boss except for the final boss is the 5th stage boss.

The BGM was very great. No doubt why Studio Siesta really proud of their new "Tsuki Warabe" (Kanna's theme.) The track was awesome. I can sit and listen to it all day long if I could.

i've redownloaded and reinstalled without the patch... - still it crashes after it gets past the intro movie. i've installed other japanese games before so the regional setting thing isn't the problem.

all i get is an error about:

ModName: roxiompegdemuxer.dll

doesn't mean a lot to me but its the same i error i get if try running the airrade.exe file directly from the mounted cd image... - its as if maybe the paths havent been set or something??

Feel sorry, let see if this might help you:
- Can you try to play the op-movie manual "airrade-air-op.mpg" in your installation place and within the cd image? if you cant play it means the file still corrupt, try to redownload again :(

- Can you copy all files from the image into some folder in you harddrive if you fail same as above, redownload :(

- Check your hardware driver, might be the driver had bug (eg touchpad driver, vga driver such as asus enhance driver or simmilar)

- Did you prepare a game pad to use to play the game? (might be the game force you to have gamepad ^^'')

Other than above till now i dont have any other solution, good luck ;)

Just some tips if you can't read the manual:
Punch 'em people! the punch can erase the bullets in front of you and let you have a narrow escape from a near-hit. It also causes chained hits which are high-scoring. when you are shooting you will move slower and make it easier to dodge around. Sometimes blowing up an enemy will cause all the bullets from it to disappear.

yea I would say this game's difficulty is for hardcore STG fans. I cannot beat Miyabi and Michiru even with 4 lives and full health (managed to get away without losing any health until this boss, picked up one life along the way)

And dotTomi. Saying how many days there are would be a spoil, try it by yourselves. The game isn't that hard to beat at all. You just need to learn when to PUNCH or use Super to collecting bonusses.

For those who has problem with Minagi: Bring Michiru down ASAP you reach her 2nd form or 3rd form. Other than that. Learn how to dodge and erase those dot-bullets by punch.

hmmm.... i'm getting a very odd error when trying to open the patch, it's titled "cannot run 16-bit program", with a message saying the the setup.exe file cannot be found. Which is weird cuz i was able to apply the patch on my other comp and both comps r setup similarly O_o, with the exception that the one that doesn't install on has more programs in it.

PS: the comp that the patch doesn't install on is also the one that the games crashes in after playing a bit, life's tooo cruel T__T

@lyran: Mount it to a virtual drive, install it, patch it, and enjoy :). Just hope u dun end up in the same problems as i do >_>

edit: i've also tried the link given by animeguy since it was close to wat was happening to me (can't open 16-bit programs), but to no avail. And the error given to me by windows is nasman but mine's:

U'll need an image emulation program to create virtual drive and mount the images files onto. Programs such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon tools are good choices. After that just use the drive as u would a cd drive (w/o the cd of course :D )

@Rugal: i've tried uninstalling SP2 n playing it in SP1 with directx reinstalled. Same thing. As for virtual drives i've tried both Alcohol and Daemon, but same issues occur. Man i must've really messed my comp up for this to happen, and i just formated my comp like a week ago T_T.

Kanna, as the game last boss. Has 9 life bars if memory served me right.
Here are her patterns:

NOTE THAT SKILLS INVOLVED HERE.

1. Kanna in Clerical robe.
Kanna will fire ote-dama to you. Remember that she fires for 5 times in a row. The way to evade ote-dama is much like Misuzu's "GAO" fireball in her 2nd form. Just stop shooting and fly away. When she fires feather, that's when you shoot her again. After that Kanna will fires moon, that's not that hard to evade anyway.

2. Kanna, winged girl.
It's very easy here. Just ducking under her and pop out to shoot her when she flies down. Becareful of those moons since it may pull you to those feathers.

3. Kanna with MOON.
Now it's a hard part. Probably the hardest in the game. Kanna will throw HUGE moon to you but remember this. It's destroyable. Keep shooting at it. (I hope you have MAX firepower here.) or maybe using Terrible Air on her. Just shooting those small bullets she fires out and make sure there are no more 6 bullets in the screen.

4. Farewell Kanna.
Now this is hard, but not as hard as 3rd Kanna when you get used to it. Kanna will fire spread-bullets and one homing shots to you. Just duck under them and evade the homing shots.
When her lifebar reach red. This is where things getting funnier. Kanna will fire HOMING PAIR SHOTS THROUGH SCREENS to you. God. Fly rotate-clockwise through screen. DO NOT SHOOT HER. You'll notice that she fires small orb as well. This may explode to a 6 spread feathers. After that Kanna will fires 3 easy-to-evade feathers to you. Now this is your chance. SHOOT HER. It may took almost minute here but the safer is better. Once her life is very low, you may use Terrible Air on her as well.

Congrats. You beat Kannabi no Mikoto and Airrade!

As well as the solution that someone else posted, downloading that file and placing it in the system32 folder, a fix for just this game is to copy the files and place them in a folder called something like Airrade - Air, then run the AirRade-Air.exe

I have no idea if that works with the patch though, I just tried that before knowing about either the patch (which i'm downloading now) or the fix for that problem.

BTW: I've learned that you can do a EX punch, hit something, and then press <- your meter also recharges immediately. So the sequence goes like this:

Punch, press ->, hopefully you meant to hit something with that punch, and press <-

Other things I have learned while playing this:
1. if you let things pass by, then less monsters will appear and vice-versa. And I think the more monsters you kill, the higher your grade will be
2. After you successfully use terrible air, little egg thingies will come out from the right side of the screen. If you do a punch right when they appear, you won't have to mess with their shots since all of them would be dead.
3. Terrible air does not, or really sucks, against bosses.
4. Terrible air is not a euphamism for "fart"
5. Certain characters will do well against certain bosses.
6. Firing constantly reduces your speed. If you don't fire, then you move faster. And if you move faster, the more bullets you can dodge.
7. You can touch monsters and not get hurt. You can touch bullets, and get hurt.
8. At certain times, and with certain monsters, if you successfully create a large chain you'll recieve a life.
9. I really need to get out more
10. Never charge into a large group of bullets and then punch. Punch first, then charge.
11. Invincibility, my ass.
12. You don't have to beat all the bosses in order to progress.
13. The quick recharge only works if you hit something with your last punch

er...I guess thats all of it...if anyone would like to add on/correct me, feel free to do so.

to install, you must have a virtual drive to emulate it. download daemon tools and 'mount' the mdf file. you can then install it by double clicking setup. it doesn't autorun apparently.

btw, what does the patch do? i don't want to patch if i don't have to.

You mean terrible air? If its that, then on the keyboard you press either the "s" key, or you can press both the punch keys, which are "x" and "c." The same thing should apply to joystick/pads, I just don't know which button corresponds to which key. If you're successful, you'll see a small light show and your character will say something like "tereburu air!" (In other words, an engrish version of "terrible air")

If you're talking about an EX-punch (I think thats what its called) you don't do shot+right, you do punch+right. If you successfully do it, then you'll see stars fly out of the thing you just punched

Ryuya and Uraha isn't hard. To tell you the truth I got pass them WITHOUT losing any life point for very first time. You can see many bosses in shooting game shooting spread shot at you, but not the boss that throwing moon to you. ^_^

Since you can shot both Ryuya and Uraha, this mean with certain character you can beat them suddenly since their defense is much lower than other bosses.

Pattern 1 : Just fly around. Kept focussing on Uraha and stay away from Ryuya. After Uraha shot spread-fan to you. Dodge, and punch the one came close to you to erase it. Ryuya will shot ultra-fast shot once, and sometime for three times.

Pattern 2: Not remember clearly here. All I remember is Uraha will spread even more spread shot. Dodge, Dodge, and kept focussing on Uraha.

Pattern 3: Now kept focussing on Ryuya instead. Uraha will shot huge flying which always reflecting you shots. Ryuya will shot spread shot this time. It's not that hard. Just relax and kept shooting him until you beat them.

There you go. Enjoy the 6th day of AIR.

EDIT: Alright, I just figured it out (w00t! go me ^_^) You press the terrible air key + right directional button + the normal shot button (not either of the punch buttons) If you do it in that order, you should be able to achieve the "terrible punch." As for its uses though...I'm not really sure. I tried it on a group of monsters, and it didn't do squat. And I tried it on that ptyredactle boss...thingy...and it didn't really do much damage either...

Yes that is freaking hot, I respect the japanese artist for comming up with these kind of games. Well, I can't stink to that level on a shooting game. Normal is the only way to go, if there a pattern I shall find it, I hope. But still the intro still amazed me it look so freaking cool. I bet the game was suppose look more real but the game designer change to super cute,hot,anime,deform,childdess,like gameplay. That reminds about an Online Shooter RPG game that was suppose to come out. I guess playing AirRade makes me want to play that Online Shooter Game (whenever it comes out). I had the same problem, just press the fire button (z or x, i dun remember n e more since i use gamepad) n that should take u to the menu screen.

Doesn't seem to work ;_; The game doesn't respond to any keyboard commands... ESC doesn't work either so the only way I can exit the game is if I bring up the Task Manager.

I'm afraid I can't really help you unless you describe whats happening. Are there error messages popping up? Does it freeze? What happens when you want to start the program?

Its probably the usually stuff, like not having the right config. regional setting on there Pc, install the lastest DirectX 9.0c, people who say they can't read Japanese, the right drivers needed, and espically having a good video card. This game is fun, but flat out impossible. I might have 2 lives and 8 hearts by the time I get to the end of the 3rd day, but I lose it all in the 4th. All those fans and being surrounded by stupid frogs. I've only seen the boss twice ever. It get's tiresome to beat the first 3 days easily, then die on the fourth all the time. Oh well...

A calm balance between the two. Punching and getting a lot of hits in a combo from a punch can yield good items, but if you can't get a chance to punch, shoot the hell out of everything and you should be fine.

Ok I don't get it, I can't even pass day3 of normal. I played day 1 over and over to see when the hearts pop up and its different. Sometimes it comes and sometimes it doesn't. I kill that red frog and a heart pop up but other times it doesn't. I wonder If it depends on the points. If you do a regular punch on lots of enemies sometimes the heart comes out and If you do a Super punch bunch of Golden Egg pops up and shoots the hell out of you. Man, this game is badass and all but I need more LIFE and Continue Dammit.

I've got a problem running this on my Toshiba Satellite with Windows XP SP1 (I can't install SP2 without it breaking my internet connection and knocking my entire network offline within ten seconds of my laptop establishing a connection). The battle with the stegosaurus in the middle of day 1 glitches and the background zooms up into the sky early in the fight, rendering the boss invisible. Also, the game crashes right after beating day 2, booting me back to Windows with no error whatsoever. I've duplicated this error on several friends' laptops and desktops of various brands, while the game works perfectly on other computers, just not any I own.

well i would suggest installing SP2 you DO know that windows has a CD rom version of SP2? they recommend NOT gettin SP2 over the internet because of the fact that there might be small MINOR corruptions in download/installing SP2 because it was sent over the internet, you should be able to get a SP2 from microsoft, as long as your CD is authentic and you registered, they should've given one to you for free. if you dont, just call then and inquire about it. or go to your local computer store and ask them. i am pretty sure they might have some.

check your router, something has got to be wrong that is causing it to knock out the network...that really shouldn't happen.

if you dont want to do all that, make sure you installed the patch...might fix your problem

It hasn't happened with just one router. It happens with any one I try, and with both my wireless card and my ethernet port. I've seen the same situation happen with other computers in my area. The only thing I've really heard from a tech is that it may be caused by the bundled software that came with my laptop, and I can't easily remove it since my install disc for the laptop is just a Norton Ghost image on 3 CDs.

I'll try the patch, as I only found out about it when making my last post.

Haruko, Summer = Beat Easy
Michiru, SP Misuzu, SP Kano = Beat Normal with each char (well, I'm sure about the Michiru part, but SP Misuzu and Kano I only made an educated guess).

Here's a little tip. If you do a punch (whether normal or EX punch) always press the opposite direction of the punch right after it connects/hits and enemy (i.e. back for straight punch). Punch gauge will recover really fast. I can only get to Normal Misuzu 3, but I can finish easy with 3-4 hats left. >_> <_<

Well, applying the patch fixed the problem of the game crashing after the second level. It didn't fix the glitch that makes the first mid-boss invisible though. At least the game is playable now.

woah, this game takes me back to the days when I had to do levels over and over to beat them x.x, at least I figured out how to open easy mode though.... lol, then I lost to the two bosses on day 3 I think it was, darn, one on one they aint a problem, but both of em can sure cause a problem

Heres a couple of tips I've always found useful to keep in mind:
1) You can touch the enemies, but getting close to them isn't a great idea since then they would get a point-blank shot at you
2) Never stay put; keep on moving. The enemies will only shoot at you, not where you're going to be.
3) Never back-track, because the enemy has already shot at that direction and you'll face the chance of getting hit by the same bullet you tried to dodge.
4) Punches nullify bullets, but you have to time it right; too soon and you'll get hit by the bullets that your punch missed, too late and you'll just get hit since you didn't destroy any bullets.
5) Go for the boss that takes damage, the other one is just to annoy you.
6) The only way you can get hit is if they hit the direct center of your character; a hit to the head does nothing.

Hopefully that'll help. Oh, and for punches, press -> right after you punch to do a stronger punch, and then press <- after you successfully hit something to recharge your bar quicker.

regarding the bullet elimination trick, does this work for any type of bullet/projectile? or is it only the small ones, like for the day 3 boss I think it was, where you're battling 2 bosses, during the third stage of the boss stars start raining down everywhere x.x

Here's something I found, although not very useful since I'm guessing lots of people don't take damage on Kano anymore, but when she starts spinning and your projectiles are being reflected, EX punch her to death.

I know about the bullet elimintation trick; I used it for breaking stray bullets. But can you like, EX punch and charge into a swarm of bullets and nullify all of them? Anyway, I'll treat this as a last resort since your punch will have to charge from empty.

EDIT: I've done the testing, and punching through bullets isn't a last resort. It's very useful. You can punch through red frogs stream of bullets (stage 2). you can destroy a whole set of 5 bullets if you time it right. You can also use it to destroy big Potato's bullets and drive the punch further for an EX punch on Potato. I haven't tried punch recovery for this though. As for bullets it can destroy, it can destroy standard small RGB bullets as well as Ptero and Misuzu's Gao ring of fire. It can also destroy Stage4 big Potato's bullets (the red and blue flashing bullets). I don't think it can destroy Stego's small fireball and Ptero's big fireball (Ptero, second life)

I can't get past normal Misuzu... T_T I also can't kill golden frog on normal... T_T, I get too much damage in stage 4 normal T______T...

Well, one link posted before says that the stationary punch then forward is an EX punch. Also, you can EX punch, go through swarm of bullets, punch source of bullets, then do punch recover.

You can punch through Ryuya-dono's spread shot. I don't know about Misuzu's Gao fire though (you can nullify her fire, but I don;t know if you can just punch then go through the gao fire). Misuzu's concentrate gooey juice isn't nullifiable I think.

Did I ever say that the battle with Kanna-sama has got to be the most beautiful? It's amazing what they did with the background, it really feels like you're flying...

Alright, about the bullet nullification thingy, you can't recharge any of the punches unless it hits an enemy, which means punching through bullets won't allow you to recharge. milkmandan asked what an EX-punch is. An EX-punch is just when you press punch and ->.

You have to remember, you can perform an EX-punch and recharge it too just as long as you hit an enemy.

Yeah, well quick charge punch works only when you hit something, so I assumed that the reader knew that. @_@ Anwyay, somebody please give me a replay for stage 4, especially Misuzu 3 (normal of course). I've gotten to the point that I can reach stage 4 with all lives intact as well as 5-6 hearts (with scores of B-S and nothing lower, lol). When I get to stage 5 (IF I DO), I'm left with... 3 hearts and no lives. T_T I'm thinking of just letting the clock out on Misuzu 1 so that I can just finish normal just once!!

Well, you have to remember that you don't have to kill any of the bosses except for the last one. I normall just avoid the fight with Misuzu since I can never seem to be able to avoid that green jelly thingy. (all lives intact? So do you not bother with getting the golden frog in the same stage? Cuz it gives you a life)

I try to kill golden frog, but I never do. =/ He's got those keys in front of him, and I don't wanna risk some lives since it's really tiring to get to stage 4 over and over again.

Yeah, the green juices also kill me. I'm doing fine with gao fire nowadays, but I lose close to 6 hearts to the juices.

EDIT: GADS, stage 6 normal is hard. In easy, once you kill the source of the bullets, the bullets disappera. In normal they don't. Close to the last part of the stage, lots of the Misuzus will appear and the screen can clog up with bullets REAL FAST. This was the first time I reached this stage at normal so I panicked and didn't punch through the bullets.

Can anyone give me tips for killing the golden frog at normal? The keys blocked my bullets and by the time I destroy the bullets in front of Gold Frog, he either moves away or makes new keys @_@ I got lucky the last time but I don't know what I did, I was too busy trying to dodge for dear life when blue frog suddenly died Gold frog was easy without blue backing him up. Also, is your character invincible everywhere when you do a punch? Finally, what is the exact hitbox of the characters?

Hmmm... the red frog on stage 2 sometimes gives out lives. Does anyone know the condition for this to happen or is this just random?

Matthias, oh so that's what that option was... I was skeptical at first since it was too little and I kinda remembered taking damage while the bullet didn't go near the red box. I guess I remembered wrong. :)

I think AIRRADE summer was a previous version of AIRRADE (kinna like a beta I bet). And the only patch I saw here (correct me if I'm wrong) was the patch to make the game run for other systems I think. So people have problems with playing the game and the patch solved that.

Take a key for Red frog? I'll try that. So far, I've been able to get the life if I don't get hit for the entire watermelon upto red frog.

/cheer satsuki, go for it :D When you get to stage 5 boss, just follow Rugal's tips for Ryuuya and Uraha. And I'll just add that when Ryuuya does his spreadshot (3rd life), punch and go through it.

wah! if you don't have the patch I suggest you GET (http://www.mails.ne.jp/%7Estudio_siesta/download/air2_0724Patch.zip). It doesn't give you the new characters, but it does seem to enable unlocking them. I played a whole lot without the patch and even though I beat easy with misuzu and minagi, no character was given. Plus lots of other much-appreciated additions/changes, except kano's kinda noisy now.
summer was an expansion for original airrade. Airrade-air- is newer and does not have any add-ons.

When you shoot enemies, they will release a bullet upon death. They won't release bullets when they are punched and chain-comboed. Also no hearts are released for big chains.

okay... an update for those wanting to know how to unlock stuff and a few caution notes ^^; I confirmed these, and i was also playing on Normal to hard mode... so alittle tweaks here and there... would get you the same results ^^;

Haruko - Beat the game with Misuzu
Keisuke - Beat the game with Haruko
Kanna - Beat Summer mode with Misuzu
Yao Bikuni - Beat Summer mode with Kanna
SP Misuzu - Beat boss mode with Misuzu
Kirishima Hijiri - Beat the Game with Kirishima Kano

Extra Stage - Beat the game with an S rank (on the final scores page)
all it is is the First stage with alot of extra enemies for some ex punch fun ^^;

With the trainer, you have to be alittle careful on summer mode.. especially with the fight with Ryuuya and Uraha.... as the game seems to crash... but it only happens on summer mode... so my suggestion is wait them out and pass that stage...

another note... for those who may not be familiar with who Shiraho is.... In the flashback sequence in EP 4, the woman holding the baby in the field is Shiraho.. when Yukito puts the feather to Kano's chest.. (i feel dumb for not noticing it ^^; )

I remember reading about a.... Naked Misuzu in a Tin Can (???) in the 2nd page of the thread. There wasn't a (unconfirmed) next it to, so I'm wondering what happened to that.

And when I looked at the Airrade manual, they provided black-out images of characters... and there are a blacked out image of two kids (and they made it seem like they were just one character...) so many both of their portaits are combined in the top menu.

Hey, that's Summer Mode for you; and it would only crash if you were using the trainer; thats the price to pay you know. I should know, I crashed in Summer Mode quite a lot myself.

And I think that one of the two kids is Michiru... cuz of the hairstyle (kinda like Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh) and thus I'm assuming the other is Minagi.

Of course, I could be wrong, but it sure looks like it to me.

Well, since this version of the game is like a compilation of the other games, I would think they wouldn't take out any characters... and I actually went into the game and reloaded the character selection screen several times (ok, make that lots) to see the blacked-out character. I'm pretty sure that Yukito is in there... unless they require like a save from an older version of the game to get him. >.< (That would be horrible)

Yeah, lots of things seemed to have changed (meter graphics, character unlocking sequences, etc.)
Also, boss attack is only if you the first 3 girls paths on EASY.
If you have only an easy easy normal, you will not get boss attack -_-a

I heard that not all the characters were unlockable yet, and that the patch that they were working on was going to give access to them. Of course, it could be like EFZ where you end up waiting around 4 years for it all to come around (I sure hope not, heh)

Yeah, that happened to me before as well. Its definately not the most pleasant thing to happen to me either.

I suppose it does make sense that -air- would be different, but it really is a sort of compilation of the others (it has all the characters of the others, and the graphics are the same) though they did change the menu graphics and such.

If you're right, and they need to release patches to make the other characters avalible, we'll just have to hope it won't take 4 years. Course, if that happens, I'd rather learn how to hack the characters then wait ;)

Turned on the trainer, set 1-ups on, and then went to eat dinner.
4 Easy Stages -> 5 Normal Stages -> 6 Hard Stages.
Entire time taken: 1 hour and 18 minutes.
Keys pressed before getting to Kanna: Zero.
Times died: Who knows...Probably over a 100.

Yeah, that time is just too much to even bother risking a crash out -_-a

i know that for sure
i check every character everytime i reset the menu with the pic of the char.
all it has is misuzu, winged misuzu, and then pajama misuzu
but no tin can misuzu
unless there is a sudden secret character in the next patch which i hope will come out soon

Here's some advice:

Don't stay in the middle (horizontally) of the screen during her 1st life bar. Michiru does an attack there whenever she disappears from the screen.

Hitting the giant riceball splits its up into multiple projectiles.

Sometimes you can't hit one of them, so start attacking the other one.

In the third stage, she starts summoning stars. I think (note the word think) they are destroyable, but not worth the time doing so, so dodge like mad.

Of course, you can just don't take down her 1st life bar and just wait for the timer to run out. You'll still goto the next level, just sans points. You can do this for every boss except Kanna (if im remembering correctly.)

When the air bar fills up, you can press S (at least, for me) to initiate terrible air. You can basically, after some inital lag time, move SUPER QUICK to any area on the screen, and ANYTHING in your way gets destroyed (except bosses of course, its does damage, though its sometimes risky to rush the boss like that)

If you just sit there, nothing happens except the glow. There is no use for sitting there at all. Charge right in!

You are getting keys right? Shooting the frogs and getting it. Those give a hat, when you collect 8.

EDIT: Oh, and I noticed you don't have Airrade in your currently playing list!

At which part of day 4 are you at where you get 'owned'? If its Misuzu, then here is some advice:

At her 2nd life bar, she morphs into a dinosaur suit. She will initially shoot circular blasts of fire (dodge them, but stay away to give it time to expand). But after that she will, at some point, shoot a single ball. DON'T hit it. It will turn into several projectiles. She will also summon Dinosaurs, but they are easy to dodge.

At her last lifebar, she will shoot green blobs and green juices. The juice bottles don't damage you; the blobs do. And the juices turn into blobs when you shoot it, so don't just hold down the shoot button (like I did the 1st time, lol)

Actually, an easier way to dodge the expanding ring of fireballs is to simpl sit behind her at the cozy front of the screen. Get in some cheap hits or ex-punches inebtween. As for the bullets that expand when hit, they are easy to dodge - just be a few pixels under where they are spawning. They shouldn't hit you since they'll go straight forward and spreads down from there. Just keep your distance, or sit up front and continue with the cheap shots.

lol, how ironic, I never tried being right in front of her before. And I warned not to shoot the projectiles because the 1st time i played through, I thought by shooting the projectiles, they would disappear (like a lot of other types of projectile) so I was just giving a warning.

lol, Matthias, that's exactly what happened to my gamecube controllers, so don't feel bad. And at least your friend has a controller port; my computer doesn't, and there's no more space in the back of my computer for more. (My computer isn't exactly that great)

according to studio siesta.... certain circumstances prevented them from releasing the patch, and i think they are testing it now... and at least they updated the AIRrade -AIR- page on their site :D
