Please tell me it's a 2D game.

I've heard of this rumor as well. A Udon rep apparently blurted out something about a new game while hosting a joint booth with Capcom reps at a convention. I think it's too early for any of us to assume that it's going to be a new Street Fighter, though, especially since Capcom hasn't made any official announcement.
It could be true, but I got a gut feeling that this will be a series spinoff instead of SF4.

I doubt that, it's been a good number of years since sf3. I hope not.

heard and seen some vids of battle coloseum. saw some pics of the new samurai spirits as well as fist of the north star. tekken5.1(havent really gotten into tekken but i'd like to know what changed) virtua fighter 5.....very interesting(although still not through with vf4, one of the most challenging games to master imho). i can't wait for these. oh and of course sf4.

ugh. not a 3d street fighter......
2d fighters are still a ton of fun. I hope somone will still make them other then guilty gear.

I certainly hope this SF4 is genuine and developed by Capcom and not some cruddy spinoff like the EX series. Nevertheless, it'll probably go under some consequential revisions to balance out characters and gameplay (ala SF2) knowing Capcom.

For Tekken, they changed the effects of certain moves, to tone down certain characters like Steve.

Even though SF3 was really cool and it completely renovated the SF graphics and visual styles, and even the fighting techniques... it would be far better to have a SFA4 (or SFZ4 for the Japanese).
The only thing I didn't like about the SF3 series was it's lacking fighter arsenal (too few). Alpha 3 scored a wide smile across my face when I saw so many returning fighters.
If you're a fan, you have to keep loving the old ones :D

Capcom announced the new game and it is NOT SF4. It's some game named War of the Grail, I believe. It'll be a hack-n-nslash game, ala Dynasty Warriors. I had the feeling that it would something like this, since I heard it from BAS (D44), a pretty well-known Japanese SF'er. Capcom only said it was going to be an arcade fighting game, which I guess War of the Grail qualifies as one.
Unless Tokyo Game Show proves otherwise, I guess we can pretty much put this down as a overblown rumor.
to me that is good news. i don't think that capcom can top their previous 2d fighters. i'd really hate to see the sf series head downhill with a crappy sequel.

Sadly, they already did that with Capcom Fighting Evolution (Capcom Fighting Jam in Japan).

yeah. tht game seemed so full of promise but it really lacked in the pleasurable spark you get from playing other capcom fighters. I think that the most damaging con that game had was the lack of fighters.

Well,on the World Cyber Games in Mahattan,the people from capcom of japan said the SF4 should take place after SF3,but to be sure,It should have a trailer on the TGS and the Digital Life game convention on the Javits Center from October 14-16.The platforms are uncertain but rumors speculate that it'll be for the PS3 and Xbox 360 when digital life exclusively shows the Xbox 360 weeks before it's launch.
