I got this from the old gallery. And seeing that there's no thread about this method, i decided to up this one for all graphic enthusiasts in hf.

[copied and pasted] [credits goes to whomever posted this originally]

ok here are the instructions. (BACK UP THE DLL FILES BEFORE YOU EDIT THEM) incase somthin messes up!

1. You must have Adobe PhotoShop 7.0 or CS.... and ResHack you can get ResHack here at my website
[link is dead, grab it in the attachment instead, or do a search in the web]

2. Extract ResHack to any folder on your HDD and run the program... go to File > Open and browse to your adobe photoshop folder there you should open the file PSArt.dll and PSViews.dll

(NOTE: PSArt.dll edit for the loading screen of PhotoShop CS and PSViews.dll For Photoshop 7.0)

3. When you open the file you should get somthin that resembles explorer mode... scroll down till you see "PNGF" then extend the folder and look for "Splashart" folder and extend it... there should be a file named 1033 select the file by clicking it then go to Action > Save Resource as binary file... save it as whatever name .png then you will be able to view it in a picture viewer or somthin.

(NOTE: For photoshop 7.0 the folder name is "SPLASHART" if i remember correctly... and in photoshop CS it is named "SPLASHARTFEATHER")

4. Close ResHack and start adobe photoshop and edit the png file you saved to whatever you want... but remember you have to save room for the credits and stuff... when done editing save image as a .png file and exit photoshop.

5. Start ResHack again and browse to the splash folder and then right click on the 1033 file and go to "Replace Resource" then click on "Open File With New Respource" and open the file you saved from photoshop (edited loading screen) in the fields put this...

Resource Type: PNGF
Resource Name: For PS 7.0 it would be "SPLASHART.PNG" and for PS CS it would be "SPLASHARTFEATHER.PNG"
Resource Language: 1033

now click replace.

6. when that is done go to File > Save As... and overwrite the current PSArt.dll or PSView.dll then close ResHack and Open PhotoShop and the loading screen should have changed!

Now go and try this out!

Nice ... although I would prefer to see no splashscreen at all, I see it way too often, PS CS(2) takes HOURS to load! *kicks computer* :(:D

Ahh, I feel your pain. ;) If only Photoshop's loading time could be as amazing as its features... Maybe a new splashscreen will help dull the pain...

(Loads in under 10 seconds, whereas CS took maybe 25-35 seconds. :p)

Edit: Nevermind. :p

Try installing CS and see how long that takes to startup. :p :D

Try installing CS and see how long that takes to startup. :p :DTo tell the truth ... I have only CS installed. =o I thought CS2 takes even longer, that's why I put the 2 in brackets behind the CS. If it does not ... then I have to deal pain to certain people spreading misinformation ... >.>

The startup-time of CS on my comp is almost too embarassing to mention ... nearly 2 minutes! >_< (yeah, it's an ancient machine, probably steampowered, at least it smells if it were)
PS 7.0 loads in 30-40 seconds or so.
