Ever since I got Opera and started using it, which was yesterday, I have been looking for a download manager compatible with it. So I find this neat little program called DownloadStudio, 100% compatible with just about any browser, including firefox, IE, opera...whatever...

Anyways, knowing little to nothing about how to work this damn thing, I figure I might as well just play with it for a little while to see what it can do. So I go off browsing the web for some pictures that I wanted (habanero-tan manga translations ^_^) and come to a pretty neat site. Anyways, I wanted to see how this DownloadStudio could work its magic. /me goes right click-> downloadstudio -> (wtf...where's the download all option? er...) download site...

So I go through a little more clicking, selecting, and all together not really knowing what I was doing. Then I press the final "ok."

...ok...nothing's happening...

I go back to the program to see whats going on: "Ok...I have one download being executed, thats fine. er...wait..why do I have 140+ downloads queued? Whatever, I'll just leave it to download for a few minutes"

an hour later...I figured out why there were 140+ items, I was downloading the whole damn site, in other words, EVERYTHING on that website. I had over 2k pictures, 100 or so websites, and a couple of gigs eaten away from my hard drive...

I think there should be a moral to this story...but I'm too lazy to figure it out

EDIT: I wonder what the admins will do if I pull this off at the Hongfire gallery ^_^

LOL tofu, it would overload your hard drive, the gallery must be over 1 terabyte, just a guess. Don't worry, at least you didn't download a trogan or virus like I have. When you learn the moral of the story, let us in on it OK :).

Lol damn, you just had to have this problem right when I finally removed DownloadStudio out of my computer. K ummm, if my memory serves me right, there should be an option that lets you choose how many "levels" deep you want to download the site. You should just choose "1" and make sure you're downloading right off of where the manga pages are.

The moral of the story is what Steven Wright would say "You can't have everything, where would you put it?"

and Tofuman...your sig...so cute...it's killing me...make her stop blinking ><

on the statistics box I think I read somewhere of about 10~30 gbs??

but nothing to the extreme of a tb. and course you know HF has a small fraction of what it did before :(

Some time ago, I also looked for a d/l manager to d/l gallery pages.
I eventually found this one which I found quite easy to use and works nicely there, and it isn't cluttered with all sorts of stuff. You can even set a nice background skin :)

At least you're not missing out on anything :D
I dowload pictures the old fashion way - browse the gallery, save picture as only the pictures I want.
