원래 후커는 일어를 한국어로 바꾸게 만들어진거고, 영어는 그냥 덤이죠. 한국어로 하려면, Ez Trans XP 라는 프로그램이 필요해요. 저는 Emule 에서 구했거든요. 그후에, 후커에서 jeztrans.dll 인가하는걸 걸어주면 되요. 한, 75% 정도는 해석하니까, 꽤 쓸만하죠 :)...

hmmm... just to prove i can speak it, my korean name is 김서진. it was acutally 설진, but apparently one of my grandma's dying wishes was to change it, since they never acutally decided on the true spelling of my name. so out of the blue, my korean(middle) name changes.
acutally i plan on visiting korea this summer, so that'll be cool, i havent been there in like... 6 or 7 years!! thats a long time. anyways, my parents viewed it that i should know jack **** about my country, so i know as much about korea as the next guy in america(maybe a little more). so i was wondering if the amen osa were real heros of justice and such.

I'm in school again, so I can't type in Korean. But, hooker doesn't directly translate I don't think... Does it? I'm pretty sure you need a program to translate it, like Ez Trans, and then you have to get hooker to hook the text and then the translator will translate the text. I'm not too sure. I tried using Hooker with To Heart 2, but the english translations were SO BAD, I couldn't even understand.

예, EZ Trans XP 라는 프로그램을 받으면 일본어에서 한국어로 해석이되죠. 영어와는 다르게 일본어에서 한국어는 한 75% 정도는 된다고 할까요? 나머지는 상상력으로 때우면 거의 문제없이 할수있죠.

후커자체는 text만 추출해내는 프로그램이죠, 해석과는 아무 관계가 없어요. To Heart 2 는 별 문제없이 할수 있어요.

hey i have a question, why do the kanjis of the korean language have a more rectangular feel on them hum. it looks more archaic and cool but why is it and is korean alot like chinese. it should be from the same language family or that of japanese. maybe the korean kanji have just chosen a particular drawing style while the meaning is unchanged just like the four drawing methods in chinese, just like katankana which was based on a simple version of the writing methods. well answer if you can were still friends if you dont :)

Mmm... We do not know exactly how Korean language appeared, like basically all other languages. Chinese has something to do with it, but according to number of reports from Chineses like 3,000-4,000 years ago, they couldn't understand what Koreans were saying. Also, grammer between Chinese and Korean are quite different, so it's rather unlikely that Korean inherited Chinese language. However Korean doesn't have written language system, Korean borrowed Chinese characters to write until about 600 years ago. Around 600 years ago, King Se Jong created Korean, which we are using right now. I guess, the writing system ltself is kinda mix of Chinese and English, because while we do construct number of segments to write one word like Chinese, the word itself doesn't have a meaning itself like English alphabet.

Why are so many rectangular shape in Korean? Well, there is a rumor that when King Se Jong created the language, he often looked at asian type door, which is made from bamboo and paper. And, since there are number of rectangular shapes...

The reason Japanese and Korean languages share a lot of similarities is because about 3,000 years ago, Korean scholars went to Japan and spreaded cultures and Buddism. And, there is a good chance that Korean also delivered the language system of Korean as well...

I probably have no business in the Korean chat since I can't really speak/read/write Korean yet (I'm trying to learn...for some reason). But anyway from what I understand/read/heard, Korean people have an indigenous phonetic writing system called Hangeul, but use Chinese characters, hanja (which kinda sounds like han zi), for official documents and some other stuff. A lot of my Korean friends told me they know about 1,500 hanja characters and that knowing hanja elevates people to some sort of erudite status.

Supposedly, the Korean language borrows a lot of words from Chinese. So far, the only similarities I've heard of (I haven't been at this for very long) are taeyang/tai yang (sun) and mal/ma (horse) and cha dong cha/che (car...yeah this one is a stretch)

Anyway, I'll probably return when I actually know Korean and until then, you guys rock on.

Basically put, Korea is part of the Ural-Altaic family of languages, (Turkish, Mongolian and Manchu) and the language was brought down to the peninsula by the Altaic peoples during the Neolithic times. There are strong similarities between the Korean and Japanese grammer (similarities in words like, "Promise" Korean is Yaksok, while Japanese is Yakusoku. See the similarities? ) that most linguists believes should be in their own class by themselves. Over the times, Korean vocabulary has also been influenced by Chinese and English as the centuries goes by.

There are five main dialects in South Korea today following the dialect boundries as provincial borders. The dialect of the capitol, Seoul, and the surrounding areas, Kyonggi-do (Gyeonggi-do) Province is considered the standard Korean. THe North Korean dialect in the capital (Pyeongyang) follows the same route. Accents are also a way to tell which province the people are from. Further away from the capital, the more the dialect becomes more introvert and difficult to understand. For example, on the island of Cheju-do, the non-standard vocabulary is so strong, it's hard for a non-resident to understand the dialect, so in a way, the islanders learn the standard korean for outsiders and foreigners to understand them. Here's an example of the difference in dialects and vocabulary.

Standard Korean greeting for "welcome" is: "Annyeong haseyo."

Cheju-do is: Honja Ouo su ye.

The Korean language has changed in the centuries from influences from invaders and neighboring countries. Such as China, Japan, and American cultures.

Actually, I don't know any hanja! Japanese has a lot more similarities to Korean than Chinese, though. That's what I know. Like... toshokan and dosoguan and... well, a lot of other stuff, anyway, can't think of them now. Cheju do dialect is so funny! Korean dialects are so funny. Some of my relatives have such a severe accent that I can't understand them at all... well, not at all, but it's very hard to understand them.

Well, if I have to be picky, in terms of pronounciation, we do not exactly say like that (maybe bit faster and lower tone). But, every language learning dialogue sounds like that anyway. Yeah, they sounds like legit Koreans, and you will be just fine with it...

Oh, and is there any way to keep the Korean Ime in WinXP from wildly reassigning the letters to different keys? I.e. when you hit the "a" key you get a ㅁ(m), and when you type the "s" key you get a ㄴ(n) - this makes typing Korean a real pain... (unless you have a Korean keyboard, that is).

I would be really strange anyway to type an entire syllable with a single key press...

That's exactly what I did.

As you can see, the Hangul don't match the English letters *at all*: The "a" key doesn't produce an "ㅏ" but rather a "ㅁ"(m), the "s" key doesn't produce a "ㅅ" but rather a "ㄴ"(n) and so on. This is *very* confusing :angry:
Isn't there a way to actually get an "ㅏ" by typing the "A" key (etc.)?

Sorry. But, you pretty much need to adapt the way it is, because the keyboard layout is not based on English, and I doubt that there is a format that enable you to do as you want. It really isn't bad way to type once you get used to it though...

I really don't think that's feasible, and it's far more complicated than current Korean typing system. For Japanese, that type of system may be necessary, because they use Kanji in normal life, and typing Kanji straight from the keyboard may be hard. But for Korean's case, there is a way to directly type any word possible from the keyboard with a practice. Also for Korean, there are tons of words that sounds similar and spells differently, and there are awful a lot of words that English can't express (ex: 최 = Choi which sounds like 초이). I don't think anybody will create a system to check which word you actually typed whenever you typed a single word. I mean, can you imagine that you try to type "I am a boy", and Word processor asks you to verify which word you meant for 4 times?

Anyway, to the previous poster, I have no idea why the Japanese loathe their Asian neighbors (Koreans, Chinese, and Vietnamese) either. Only thing I know is that our elders dislike them because of various cruel things they've done.

Actually there is another reason Korean elders dislike the Japanese. Did you know that Japanese board of education manipulates their history? It's an old news but I thought some of us here didn't know about that.

It is a short story that was printed in an artbook, and was translated from Japanese to Korean, so now I'm trying to find someone that could put it from Korean into English so I can learn the story. I'm writing a fanfic featuring the characters in the story, so any information I get is really helpful to me. I'd also be thankful just to get summaries of it instead of line-by-line translation if that would be easier.

This is basically the same thing and it's waaaaaaaaaaay faster at the right time. Korean Daytime to be exact. Since the site is kinda new, there arent much community space/forum but they do have alot of stuffs in it. Music and movies are well updated that you can get it after a day's release. Not to mention the games are well uploaded. There's only one search engine which is in that site so use that.

Both site has the download limit which is 50kb/s. BUT you can accumulate certain POINTs and trade it with an online coupon to remove the limit for certain amount of size or days you download. And the points are free as well. And the method by those 2 sites are different.

The only real reason why I am mentioning this to you guys is that WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN member space for us to share. We can make our space Private or Public etc... and not worrying about a dead site or that crappy waiting time by sendspace,gigashare,megaupload etc.

에... 드래곤 나이트 4 는 나온지 일주일도 안되었죠. 대개 패치하나 뜨는데 못해도 일년은 걸리죠. 특히 RPG 는 훨씬 복잡한 관계로, 패치가 잘 되지않죠. 드래곤 나이트는 아마 나오기 힘들지 않을까 생각되네요. 이미 오리지날 게임의 패치도 있는것으로 알고있고, 이번것도 그리 좋은평을 못받은것으로 알고 있고요.

혹시 페이트/할로우 아타락시아 한글패치도 있으시나요? 검색해서 찾긴 찾았는데 클박을 2일동안 켜놨는데 11% 다운의 압박... >_< 이 포럼에 기부는 못해서 죄송합니다; ㅠ_ㅠ

한글패치 가 나온지 좀 되서 클박 말고는 다운받을 때가 별로 없죠
해외 계시는 분은 클박에서 무료로 받기가 엄청 힘들거고
유로도 힘들겁니다. 전에 저도 컴퓨터 포맷 하는 바람에 fate/stay night
한글패치 를 클박에서 받은적이 있는데 그나마 용량이 크지 않아서 (50 메가
정도) 하루종일 컴퓨터 켜놓으니까 받아지더라구요.
fate hollow 한글패치는 오래전에 다운할때는 별문제 없었지만
지금은 다운받기가 힘들지도 모르겠네요
200 메가 가 넘어서 업로드 하는데 1 시간 30 분 걸렸네요

But, I heard that the option doesn't work on new patch, so I now release H option, which works on the new patch (I know it sounds weird, but that's how it is written). In order to download the patch, you need a serial code. But, you can find that easily in share. Simaachuma hooking patch and Agth can hook reallive engine, so I don't think you really need it though... However, I heard that previous reallive H option doesn't work, so I looked for a new one."

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I thought this might be the right sort of place for my question. ^_^ Um...basically my Japanese and French are now at the point where I'm fairly comfortable with the grammatical structure of both, and where all that really remains is to continue rooting out mistakes in my knowledge, and to continue learning new vocabulary (and, in Japanese's case, kanji). So I was thinking I might like to try picking up another foreign language, being that I have kind of a lot of free time just now. Korean has always been interesting to me, and its grammar is meant to have a lot in common with Japanese's, so it seems like a nice choice. ^_^

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good resources for learning? Obviously with Japanese I had a wealth of games and anime to look to for practice. ^_^ And I was being taught French in school, so I didn't really have any problems there. But I'm kinda stuck with Korean. I've learned the Hangul alphabet, and some basic grammar and phrases. But beyond that I'm having a bit of trouble making any progress... Any suggestions are very welcome. Online resources are good, but textbooks are equally welcome, as I love languages, and I don't mind spending money on a good book~ Thanks for any help. ^_^

잘 알려지지 않은 듯해서 그런데. 현재 윈도우즈용 동급생2 한글패치가 오픈베타 상태에 있고 아마 조만간 정식버젼이 릴리즈될듯 합니다. 오픈베타는 겟츄미테란 곳에서 받으실 수 있습니다. 또한 동 팀에서 미육의 향기 한글화 진행 중입니다. 번역은 이미 94%정도인데 검수 작업이 좀 오래걸릴듯하고 이미지 수정도 남았다고 합니다. 그리고 장수 팀 중 하나인 팀 산들바람에서 오랜 공백 기간을 깨고 키즈아토 한글패치 배포을 앞두고 있습니다. 현재 베타테스트를 하며 오타/오류 등을 잡고 있습니다. 미연시라는 장르를 널리 알렸다고 할수 있는 엘프의 동급생과, 비쥬얼노벨 장르를 개척한 리프사의 구작 중 아직까지 한패가 되지 않았던 키즈아토.. 그리고 엘프사의 최신작... 기대해보세요 :)

I did not know there was a Korean thread on Hongfire! even though I have come here some times. I am writing as well in English just in case that some people might not be that fluent in Korean :) FYI, there are few more (but not very well known) Korean translation releases expected quite soon. One of them is (I assume) a highly respected 'Doukyuusei 2' by Elf Corp., which introduced this kind of games to Koreans in early 90's, and which made many Korean translation teams to start projects I rekon. This time it is for Windows version, and it is currently on open beta period. The very same team is also currently working on Biniku no Kaori translation; arnd 94% already but editing and image editing are required before release. Lastly, Team Breeze, one of the oldest translation teams in Korea has resumed the work on Kizuato by Leaf and currently in beta test.

Well, but this thread seems not that active as anyone might be able to expect.. :)
