I know with the banner ads on the pages but does HF get more money if we click on the ads themselves? I'm just asking cause I don't care about a few extra clicks if it means that the server bill will get paid.

the site runs on ads alone... as stated by our admin
but yea... I think I read somewhere that if you click on the ads.. the site gets more money. (95% sure)
the site master, mister Hongfire kinda abandoned us :/ ....and hence no donation thingie

You know...maybe we should declare a Hongfire-wide "click the ads week" or something to help boost funding...

well considering that Shragei said that he has no involvment in HF's financial affairs, I kinda doubt an ad clicking spree would really do anything.
( oodles of people click all over this site per day :))

the money probably just pays for the servers themselves on a monthly/weekly/whatever the expanse is; without a gain of profit for our glorious webmaster. But hey... I'm stepping out of my line of knowledge since I'm basing this out of my cousin's website ad contract :/

I don't believe you get a lot of money from advertisements, I would be surprised if hongfire broke even. Makes you appreciate the effort the admins are putting in ;-)

Well given the fact there are very few banners on this site, I would have to agree with textmode on this one. But then again I don't know how much the ad are paying out either.

Most banners don't pay by per-click nowadays, too easy to abuse. Some require follow thru, and even purchases to be made by those referred before they pay the webmaster. So a clicking spree week won't help... and some Ads company default payments on a regular basis anyway.
Coupled with the traffic HF's gallery generates... it's pretty amazing for me to see HF growing since 2004... and keeps on improving despite the crazy costs (both monetary and otherwise) involved.
I'm just wondering if we'll ever need to have donation drive like 4chans...
I have a feeling that this site is still being paid for by Hongfire himself. Somewhere, a bank account is being steadily depleted. Unless Hongfire is a rich person and the servers are paid for by interest accumulated. :P
The banner ads do not profit Hongfire or any of the admins at all. All it profits are the server people.
I find it hard to believe that the banner ads pay for the site.
If thats the case, hopefully Hongfire is indeed rich. Not that I'd mind donation drive, but if we became somewhat like 4chans...

4chan is fine... what's not fine are the retards on 4chans and the noobs..
But the biggest retard of them all is moot....
If the site is paid by Hongfire,and ads money are gone only for servers,and Shragei isn't involved in HF finnances,I wonder how long this site can go with this kind of financial managment.
So it means that current admins can't bring donations back or can they,just wonder,now I think that PayPal was not so bad idea,cause it's the only worldwire organisation with I can use to donate on websites.

Not to b rude, but the program that Hongfire "ad-banners" is under, might have (a duh!!!) a TOA. Go read it.
TOA (Terms of Agreement). They record all clicks coming from each individual ISP (Internet Service Provider) and see who is clicking, at what time, and at what rate. This might b considered a violation. Then they'll check up on the forums and then they'll shut it's affilliation with Hongfire totally, no money.
So some of you think this might help Hongfire, but not really. Sorry.:rolleyes:
