Anyone here planning to get into guild wars? Most of my friends from my days in Asheron's Call and NwN aren't, so I'm probably going to be in yet another brand new community. ;)

I just preordered mine from bestbuy on friday. You get a pass into the beta tests and also a free in-game item (which item depends on where you preorder). I can't wait for this game.

in the first beta I had a max'ed lvl'ed Ranger/Necro...I was a dominant force..^_^..I can't wait for guild wars..getting into it for sure...just waiting for the release..I'm glad there aren't many Ranger Necros...I only saw 1 besdies me =D...

do you think that they might overload the servers the first few days? I mean, didn't Blizzard highly underestimate the amount of people playing on their WoW servers, which ended up causing major lag or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Not at all! The last BWE (Beta Weekend Event), they had over 250,000 players online! That's waaaaay more than what Blizzard had for their beta tests (I played WoW since Friends and Family beta). Their "streaming technology" for the game is amazing, and with that many people that were online, I didn't experience any lag whatsoever.

I can't explain how good Guild Wars is going to be. If anyone has played in the previous betas, they'll know what I'm talking about. The scary thing is that we've only seen 30% of the game content! Whoa.

I preordered mine on December. I really looking forward to this game. I was on both the Event and the beta. I really love the PvP. So cool. Every should post their character name here when the game is released so we are can levelup together in those quest. *drools*

Guild Wars Feb beta just ended, quite sad I am, but somewhat relieved that I can't spend any more time on it than I already have. Very much the problem, in my opinion, with online games. There's always more to do in the game, even when you know you should stop. Then again, it might be because we're only given 3-day windows of playtime each month before release, and I want to pack as much playtime in as possible. ;p

I agree. There wasn't enough time to play the game this time around since they included Old Ascalaon (pre searing). I absolutely loved that part of the game, and was pretty sad to see it turn to ruin (poor Gwen!).

I tried to play my Warrior/Necromancer character I had last beta, but they did something bad to the older builds of the characters. I was barely doing any damage, and we were getting our asses handed to us all the time. Our new characters did almost twice the damage. There was something seriously wrong when a level 2 character is outdamaging a level 12. My new character (Ranger/Monk) was doing 38+ damage with a 12-19 bow at level 6. With Power Shot, I was hitting near 70+ at times. :eek:

So my friends and I decided to hand down all of our gear to our new characters and build them up. Started a guild, and had a blast. I love how when you join the academy, it gives you a little taste of the PVP element of the game. We spanked our opponents (10 to 5), and it felt awesome.

Last beta, we barely made it to Borlis Pass when the event was over. This time, my friends and I made it through the very beginning of the game and all the way to Temple of the Ages (few zones past Lion's Arc). Was a complete blast every bit of the way! :D

I managed to film 8.8 gigs worth of video this beta. I'm planning to make a lot of videos with it. Will let you guys know when it's done! But for now, I have to reformat and start fresh. I'm running out of space on my harddrive. :(

It's not exactly free... It's going retail in April, meaning you actually have to put down fifty dollars to get an account. Barring hacked keys, keygens and the like of course.

WHOA! WoW and Eq2 had taken my attention away from upcoming MMO. This game looks very promising, although one main issue i like to get opinion on is... will this game survive with no monthly fee? although monthly fee is the devil! I can't ignore the fact that MMO survive because of that fee. I wouldnt mind blowing 50 buck on this game though considering everything i seen on their official website it's very promising. Welp ill check more into it since i turn away from WoW and EQ2 didnt live up to my expectation.

P.S. I wouldnt mind knowing a few Hongfire peeps who is going to play this game. Would be nice to help out in other areas beside seeding =)

Hey Im sorta new !! :D. I played in the alpha quite a while ago. I have a 60 mage in WOW, and I planned to start a new character but the game gets boring after a while if there is no new content in wow by the time this game is out I think I will join you guys. :)

Good news and bad news. By april there will FINALLY be a content patch in WoW (after months of waiting, they said there will be monthly content patches remember?).

Bad news: The patch consist of >>>
1) Speech bubbles
2) LFG meeting point (if you play EQ this is like the Safe Room in BoT)
3) A NEW INSTANCE! YEAH! wtf, a level 50 one...

That's about all the significant ones, unless you are mage, then they are adding this new spell called mage armor.

It's hilarious how the difficulty between say...Molten Core and every other instance in existence is so huge that many guilds who first try MC get wiped on the door mobs.

Some of you may have already heard, but the end of the latest Guild Wars Weekend Beta Event ended in fire and death for most participants. An NPC from early in the story, a young girl named Gwen, reappeared all across Tyria to enact a gloriously macabre ritual of fiery death to all she met. I was in Lion's Arch at the time, and after the initial surprise had worn off, the survivors clamored for sanctuary somewhere in the burning city. A cry of "to the docks!" gained momentum, and people began crowding towards the docked ship, hoping for some measure of solace.

After surveying her handiwork, Gwen played a small tune on her flute and skipped merrily on her way to the next group of hapless victims.

The event rest of the was a blast, recruited a sizeable number of people into the guild, enough to consistently have a full 8 members online to participate in the the Tombs PvP arena, and fought our first Guild Battle (which we lost horribly in). There remains one last Weekend Beta Event before the official release of the game next month. I myself can hardly wait.

This game caught my attention in another thread... i belive it was Shinyo who brought it up and someone posted a link... I spend some time looking at their site and it sure as hell looks very promissing...
I dont know about waiting a month or so just to acquire the game it self.. it seems some people already have alpha versions and so on... How did they get those?
I'm sure as hell thinking of buying it this time.. wow.. i havent heard my self say that about pc games in years.. LOL.. its just the fact of no online fee thats got me all intence about it.. For those of who have played this game.. would mind giving a comparison to any other RPG game thats been out before... as in to be alike..

I've not played an extensive number of computer RPG's, my experience is mainly limited to EverQuest, the Infinity Engine games, Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege. Drawing on that, however, none of them really strikes a close parallel to GW. GW is unique, in my view, because it's takes the best parts of the a single player RPG (a storyline involving and affected by your character), and putting it in a massively multiplayer framework. It really has to be experienced; for me the appeal was hard to understand through words. After my brother convinced me to play through one of the betas, I found the game had hooked me, and pre-ordered my own copy so I could continue playing the beta events.
There is, at the time of posting, one last beta event running from April 15-17th. If you want to give the game a shot before committing to the full price when it's released, you can always pre-order for $5 or whatever it may cost and play during that weekend. If you end up not liking it, instead of having spent $50, it'll be a much more palatable loss.

I would really love to play this games. It looks awesome. But i swore to myself never to ever play any kind of games like this. I recenly played World of Warcraft. I quit. Not that i didnt like it, in fact i loved the game. I just had to. So i wouldnt want to get myself strangled in this kind of stuff, and forget the more importnat things i need to do.

But yea, if i had more time to spare, i would really love to try this game out.

i hear its awesome for PVP but as for the regular games....you only go up to lvl 20 :( i will probably end up getting later. I hate online rpg... in the sense it so addicting and takes up all your time. Diablo II took so many hours away from my life!

Instanced stops people from stealing kills and loot. I actually find it better than haveing idiots run around killing my targets and stealing loot. I've played the game to the point of boredom. PvP is almost the exact same, the story line is done, and the community has been flooded with retards.

After playing Lineage 2, GW is such a releif, none of that looking around while killing mobs, watching carefully as someone walks near you, getting ready in case they try to pk you or train mobs on you and all that.

The PvP is great. Gotta love them Guild battles and catapults :D

Depends: it is not a real mmorpg.
It is more pvp/gvg based with a short pve expanded game.
It is more about tactics in pvp.
L2>eq2>wow>gw "at least for me" but u get what u pay for, since no monthly fee, so they want u to stopp playing so they don't have to pay server hosting long ;)
