I heard that the World Of Warcraft is going to be released soon. But it is still in beta testing. Just wanted to ask you guys if the beta testing now is a open or closed one. Does anyone know?

I don't quite like wow's character design. The design is western style, i like cute japanese style more.

Uhh.... warcraft with cute japanese characters? LOL - that'd be something. :P
The WoW beta is closed, they are not accepting any more applications.
There is a stress test going on for the american servers, with an european just around the corner.
I'm pretty sure that the Beta application period is over, and my friend is already addicted to it. The only down side of Wow is that players have to pay monthly for their online service which is about 15 bucks/month or so  I think I'll pass on this one
I was thinking of joining the stress test but then i decided against it.
i mean i got other games and im tied up with something else.

I played in the week long stress test. I played every day all day. I think what it lacks in comparison to FFXI, it gains back in some ingenious gameplay design. I am not a big fan of solo either, but it is very easy and very rewarding if u solo, to at least level 24 becuz thats the level I got to, but I can suspect it is for most of the game. Its a very simple game like Diablo 1 and 2, easy to catch on to, and pretty addicting. It is also a very colorful game, at least in the Night Elf regions. I heard they Undead area is very nice too. I am only a casual PvPer but I hear they are adding alot of Dark age of Camelot type PvPing aka Catapults. In addition I hear there are PvP zones where u gain rewards for killing people or finishing pvp zone only missions (missions or quests being the main form of xping and getting rewards + storyline in this game). I also like Blizzards view of thinking that worthless downtime healing is shitty and minimalizing it during the game. Graphics are good, gameplay is very simple (I suspect many kids will play), the story line can be somewhat interesting, and PvP is pretty well done as in all Blizzard games. I personally will always love FFXI, but Imma play this game, make a high lvl char, and make money on playerauctions.com selling stuff to kids like was done in Diablo 2 ^^. The game is still beta, I belive an Open Beta is planned sometime soon. Most likely u will be able to sign up at fileplanet.com when it is time for open beta as thats the place u signed up for the Stress test. Not nearly as "cute" as FFXI, but they have gnomes... I like FFXI better style wise but its not that bad of a game. I expected more, but I'm still somewhat satisfied, after all it was still beta when I played so I hope they buff up some unbalanced classes. 7-8/10 is my grade so far.

The closed beta stopped accepting new accounts as of the 15th, but I think they're still running that portion of the testing while they set up for the open beta which they say is coming soon. You can check their website (http://www.hongfire.com/redirect.php?url=http://www.blizzard.com) for more updates on when they're having the open beta. It should also be mentioned on the WoW site (http://www.hongfire.com/redirect.php?url=http://www.worldofwarcraft.com) when they open it.

Dude in the closed beta, anything anybody want to know about the game/system?? Oh and open beta within 2 weeks cause all of us in the closed beta have to remake our chars :( To join you guys, then again... Noob bashing time bwhahaha! 12-15$ per month unless you win tourneys within the game, as well as other fine Blizzard Merchandise!

I have played MMO's all my life and even with the 15 buck per month cost, I'm cheaper out, I hardly buy games when playing an MMO, but when I'm not playing one, I easily buy two games per month...

I'm going to play WoW. I hope because it's Pay by Month, Blizzard won't screw this up and be more speedy with their patches.
Imagine waiting that long like we did for the 1.10 patch in D2. O.o

WoW North American Open Beta will start very soon, as Vivendi is pushing Blizzard to release WoW a few weeks before Xmas (to make big dollah before the end of their fiscal year) so we can expect the Open Beta Signup in 1-2 weeks max. And the Open Beta will last 2-3 weeks.
I played Everquest for 5 long years (felt like a long Beta), played WoW during the Stress Test for 9 days (game felt more finished than every other MMO that were released before), have many friends that have been playing since Alpha, who started more than a year ago and they really love the game, played EQ2 Beta (SOE are continuing their legacy of releasing buggy beta that will never be finished/fixed).
I will be playing WoW for sure until Vangaard gets released in 1-3 years.

I hope ... as an pet-maniac, that the pet handling is better than in games like DaoC or Anarchy. In the Beta of WoW is/was so much missing. Skills and the most important thing NO pets for me.
My quote is a big " I WANNID PLAY NOW !!! "

Ryushi, the WoW download is a torrent.
I'm currently at 52% complete @30-40 kb/s DL/UL...8-10 hrs left.
I have very little experience with this game though. Somewhat familiar with Warcraft 3, seen a few screenshots/movies of WoW but other than that I don't know anything else about this game.

Linage 2, is a wonderfull poser clone game. The models, the world, all is brilliant, but every second player look like a clone. When they manage to bring more models, i

yeah well its a crappy torrent...lol, what i ment was have a WoW private torrent on here, o well I finished (and yes it did take 1 day)
installing right now...this is also taking forever
BTW my suggestion to you all, if your going to put this game on multiple computers, burn it onto a disc, it may take alot of disc's but it saves one whole lot of time

So, the game has been out for about a week now. I thought that since it's now post-release it might be good to bring it up again.
In the time since it has come out, I've recreated my beta characters exactly, and have surpassed where I was in beta. After this, all I can say is that this thing is still amazingly fun and enjoyable to play. Anyone who wasn't sure about it should go give it a try. If you're an MMORPG fan, I don't think you'll regret it.
For anyone that's curious I'm on Eonar and my char name is the same as my account here. Feel free to say hi in game or ask me anything (i can make some decent armor and weapons now).

Went to the store (EB games) to buy those game cards, cuze i don't have a credit card. Said I had to wait for a month... was annoyed so i called another nearby branch, and they said they have the cards -_-... Assuming the game and cards are in stock, I think i'll start tomorrow. Mostly likely going to start a druid... love the shapeshifting concept.

You should try gamestop.com and search their website for local stores around your area. They even show the ammount they have.. i guess it updates everyday or so. But yeah- i'm going to play it once amazon decides to send it to me. Getting the game new for 16.99 aint bad dont you think ;). Hell for that price i can wait :/ for another 2 weeks.

I work at GameStop here, but I'm kind of declining to actually play this game yet. I don't know, to me it sounds like a good game but I'm kinda too busy for games as of late. ^^

Got hooked on beta and enjoyed it quite well. Still do, I'm on Pacific Caost server Cenarius. I've got 4 characters so far 2 I haven't worked on much but my main is a Night Elf hunter named Chiana lvl 42. Working on trying to get a mount, slow going that is. But I'm having fun doing it so it's all good.

Currently a capped, Level 60 Rogue in the Bonechewer server right now. Even at capped levels, I still have lots to do, raiding dungeon instances and battling the opposiding faction, heh. WoW is a very addictive game... yaargh.
I can't wait for their "control-the-flagpoints/capture-the-flag" expansion set... it should be like Planetside on WoW proportions!

I've started like a week ago and already level 18 Troll Hunter on Blackrock, one of the servers populated by mainly aussies haha.
Mind you i've only been playing at night for one or 2 hours only but its fairly fun.
