I went last year too... I also go to Canadian National Anime Expo as well in August.

No I don't cosplay. My friends told me to cosplay as Kakashi... but I don't have the materials needed :P

All my friends JUST copped out, and it's a ten hour drive. I'm absolutely hellbent on going, and since I don't want to spend all that gas money myself and possibly crash and die alone, I'm scouring the web for residents of NH/VT/NY who are interested in going.

I have a room lined up that's about a mile away from the con center in Toronto. It'll be crowded, but cheap at the same time. I plan on leaving tomorrow morning around 8 - 10 AM, and will leave whenever on Sunday. Admission is something like $30 CAD, and the hotel room is estimated at $60 CAD for two nights, although it's probably less.

I intend to split gas money halfway for as long as you're around (i.e. I'm not going to say "Well, I paid 100% of the gas BEFORE I picked you up, so you're paying now"), and I also promise that I'm not some sketchy, unshaven dude who's looking to abduct and molest young children. I'm just a nerd on the road who'll also be bringing VGM on the car ride.

question, the dressing-up, do majority of the convention goers dress up, or are they the minority? and what can be part of the prop? obviously any "weapons" will have to be styrofoam or can't be a real weapon or anything that can pose harm(e.g. iaido blade or even a bokken for bleach cosplay for example, hahah), right?

Im back from anime north from today...damn exhausted.
I got some nice pictures of the place with people colsplaying lol.
I cant wait for tomorrow, I got the sticker for the Kotoko's concert, and I got her autograph :D What a day it was.

I went 2 years ago and don't really have an urge to go back anymore. You know seeing a man dress up as sailor mercury and then seeing the whole crew up on stage dancing around kind makes you want quit anime forever. 2 of my friends went yesterday, 1 of them is probably lost in sea of cosplayers as we speak. I guess it was fun however i don't see why people lined up to get a autograph of a voice actor or why people get up in arms about this stuff. A women threaten call security on me when i was trying to get a picture, i guess i was in her way or something.

Oh well, Anime North is done for me this year.
I had lots of fun, and concert also rocked.
I got enough pictures of people cosplaying, and bought lots of stuff ata the dealer's room.

Yeah I really enjoyed this year's anime north. I spent a shitload of time playing games but I met some really cool people.

Not to mention I did pretty well at DOA4 with my Ayane <3 ^^

I didn't spend much time in the gaming room when I went to the Double Tree Hotel but I did see alot of players around DOA4. I wouldn't kno anyone there tho. Oh man, on sat there were ppl doing Kareoke Revolution, that freakin hurt my ears - thus left promptly :p The concert was great and I got the signed CD...some ppl actually bought other ppls CD's for like 100 bucks (CAN) cuz they got out of the concert late - i say *ouch* to that. it was a great 3 days for sure :kakashi:

I ended up going for all three days, I found it to be a great con, it was my first in nearly 2-3 years (the last con being Anime North when they had Hikaru Midorikawa), and although I didn't really buy much (Volume 1 of School Rumble was all that I bought), I had fun going to a few panels (the UC Gundam one, Retro Anime and a few others), and the concert and getting Kotoko's autograph (on Sunday, I really regret not getting a CD and getting an autograph after the concert) was the highlight of the whole convention.

On another note, when leaving for home on the Sunday, I got to meet the guy behind Dash-Fansubs (he's also a member of URAnime, Ryerson University's anime club, for whom he fansubs R2 DVDs that they show at their events, next one is in the middle of June, I plan on going hopefully) and had a nice chat on the TTC bus (found out he's drinking buddies with Andrew LB, whose site I check for who is subbing what shows in the current anime season) about all sorts of things relating to anime (I also found out that he was a Panelist for 3-4 events).

Aside from that, I found it great, although I've heard from my university's anime club's former President and one of the founders, that quite a few people he has talked to didn't really enjoy it, that they found the line-ups to be too long, the events disorganized, and the masquerade was awful apparently (I heard from a friend, with whom I went to the Kotoko concert, that masquerade was very yaoi).

A friend of mine (he went with me to my first Anime North in 2001) was also telling me a few customers who came into his EB (whom he noticed were from AN since they had their badges on still) also said they found it disappointing. I guess I am just easily pleased... :P

Did anyone attend the Geneon Panel? I couldn't make it cause I woke up a little late and the TTC was taking its precious time getting me to the TCC. I was hoping to make it to ask Kotoko about her experience working on eroges and anime, particularly if she has a particular mindset when producing music for one or the other and whether she gets a synopsis of the eroge or anime she is working on and such...

If only I knew about this con sooner! I haven't been to a con before, so it would've been a cool first time, especially with KOTOKO performing. However, I live all the way up north (about a 4 hour transfer flight to Toronto)... ;_;

Has anybody posted any pics or videos yet? I wonder if you were allowed to take a camera/camcorder into the concert. I highly doubt it, but I do remember seeing a video clip of angela playing at a con once.

Also... what was her set list? What CD(s) did she sell there? I wonder if it was anything that isn't sold in retail...

I have no pics or videos, cuz I was at the front seats of the concert, with Kotoko rite in front of me. No chance of taking pics while trying to enjoy the concert you know. Plus you werent allowed to take pics.
