Hello fellow hongfire members. In this thread i want people to talk about there rise to fame, how they got to the status of beyond repute so others can try to do the same.

They do it by post whoring, rep whoring, attention whoring, reposting other peoples torrents, things like that.
Basicly, be a whore and you'll get alot of rep. Rep is not equal fame though. Just remember that.

I completely disagree...those kind of things tend to get you banned...but you are right. Rep has nothing to do with popularity.

Again, torrents are optional. It's how much you visit and post CONSTRUCTIVE comments on topics. Spamming and flaming lead to red bars, pissed off people and a whole lot of banning from the site.

(Can you mods/admins PLEASE have the option to disable rep, BUT STILL ABLE TO READ TO COMMENTS?!?!?)

You want to climb up the rep ladder fast? Just post hentai torrents.

Everything is optional. Just a matter of what you want to do. You want to post constantly and chat, or post torrents, or just have a bunch of friends give you rep, its all optional.

That, is your opinion. People have collected lots of rep without posting much outside of the torrent sections, and others have collected as much rep by just posting in those ex-HOHO threads and never touching the torrent sections.

Besides, its all verry relative, there are plenty of members that are famous in one section of this forum, and unheard of in others.

Whores are banned? Then this forum would be dead... with just a few bugs and other critters crawling around it's bloated corpse, picking out the scraps that are still edible.

Just do things to help other members of our community out.

While I'm not particular about rep, I feel it is a good way to show how people have behaved on the forums (with a few notable exceptions), their rough credibility and any contributions they've made.

Of course, there'll always be those who got their reps by posting senseless stuff and spamming. Which then leads to the question of who repped them for that anyway... >_<

Not true. Sure, it might make you liked and maybe even popular. But that's not how to get famous. You get remembered if you're memorable and noticed if you're noticable. Those two traits combined with being seen/heard will grow you fame. Fame and infamy is one and the same; kindness is irrelevant.

I shouldn't be bring back this old thread but oh well.

To be remembered or looked up to you just have to either be useful to the commuity like making mods, offer advice, submit artwork or offer to make signatures. Or you can be annoying and spam,flame and troll and someone will find you funny or at least people will remember you for being that annoying guy. With me people who have been here since 2004 and people with high rep stick out more in my mind more then anyone else. Also people who have the word "AZN" and anime in there name stick out in my head in a bad way. Today i found one with both and it hurts because this person doesn't spell out his words and he is older then me. There is a time and place where you have to grow up and leave the leet speak behind, i like to believe that age is 14. As for "AZN" i just think that shames the race.

Basically what Kerii said. You shouldn't really believe in fake pictures anymore. Quite a severe consequence.

Well, to gain fame, post-whoring works. There was a phase, before it was posting rare torrents and helping seed. Then it was making posts. Then it was back to uploading h-torrents from other sites.

Post-whore, debate in topics pasting from google sites, exaggerate most of the stuff you say, and probably talk about sex toys will make you famous in no time. Having a pink icon helps too.
