...on what's considered and appropriate topic for each section? It's been brought up by a few members before who were confused about specific threads being moved from other sections (like General Chat) to the Underground, and this last mass thread migration has a few topics that have me shaking my head as well. Going on the last site update that actually discussed section content

The Community Center holds threads that pertain to the Hongfire community as a whole. Fan groups such as HF-Key, discussions about members (regular and banned), and the community at large go here.

General Chat and Discussions will remain the same as before: world news, tech news, tech discussions, philosophical debates, and P2P-related news go here.

The Creative Corner is a place to show off your creative side to others. Flash movies or short clips that you've created and want to show-off, fan fiction or short stories you've written, Photoshop techniques that you want to share... the list is endless.

The Pub/Bar holds threads that contains daily experiences that Hongfire members want to share with others. Something memorable such as birthday announcements, achieving something big in your life, or "away" threads should you go on holiday and such.

The Underground is where rants belong. Have something you just need to get off your chest? This is the place to do it.

Has any of this changed recently and some of us missed the memo? Some of the threads moved from General Chat recently definitely fell under the "world news, tech news, tech discussions, philosophical debates" criteria, yet they were relegated to the underground with the SPAM/Rant/Game threads. It doesn't really make much difference, either way, but it would be nice to know and would go a long way into eliminating some of the confusion with recent mod actions.

I'm currently, voluntarily, revising some parts of the site (hence the promotion) (the most neglected, outdated part) so i am welcoming fresh, new ideas concerning this matter.

of course, the original outline stands, but i am welcoming any inputs for the descriptions on the respective forum sections.

Yes, I seen a ton of the Underground
games get closed by Dessy...for some
unknown reason...other than him making
himself look like a "god" (might I add...
faling at it...and dude...it's not cool)
....so...I really don't know what
goes in the underground anymore
either...

Hmm. To me, the Community Center is for HongFire members to interact as HongFire members and discuss topics of interest to the membership and that pertain to the site in general. The Pub/Bar is for members to interact as individuals and discuss real life topics about themselves not pertaining to the site. General Chat is for topics of interest not related to the members or the site. Creative Corner is for, well, creative stuff, generally dealing with tutorials and critiques and questions/advice about making things. The Underground is for rants, light entertainment and simple interactions, shallow stuff.

Err. Any chance we could get a 'Junk' subforum for Anime Discussion with postcount disabled for all those 'What's you favorite hair color on a transvestite swordwielding psychic villain?' and 'Please identify this picture please!' threads? I'd kind of like series discussion to focus a little more about series discussion and anime in general. Some of the other stuff is serious enough to belong, but a lot of that is Underground material, in my opinion.

And one small rant. Recently, the long interactive humor threads in the Underground have been getting shut down and any attempt to start them back up has also been getting squelched. Say something bad, What do you do when...?, and so on. I personally enjoyed these threads a great deal and liked to exercise my creativity to entertain my fellow members from time to time. I understand there were some problems with certain maturity-challenged individuals using them as their personal spam toys, but I don't understand why everyone has to be punished for those people's lack of consideration. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like having fun, and I like it when everybody else is having fun too. So what's the deal? Because I would like to have those threads back. End rant.

On that topic :
http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58019
this closed thread is strange... there are many other threads speculating and such about what will come out from the PS3 and the Wii, yet they're not out. This thread is just doing the same with planned game releases...
