I'm a japanese, lets use my name as a example
My name is Kenshi Yokota
In kanji it will be written 横田 健至
Each kanji has a certain meaning
健 means healthy
至 means to reach something
So my name means something like "to reach something while staying healthy"
I hope that "something" is something good
