Last night i was wondering...
Is there some game like guitar hero where you should use a keyboard instead of a guitar?
And then... i thought... well if there isn't wouldn't it be cool to have a game like that?
I thought of this... you get a .midi file... you parse it... you get one track and then you show notes for the user to play... the notes will vary depending on the dificulty... Input: either your handy PC keyboard or a complete Midi keyboard.
Not only an entertaining project but also it would help hella good train people playing piano... (Yes I do play piano so i came up with this idea)
Is there something like that? or should i begin programming?

fret on fire only supports five buttons as far as i know... I am thinking on connecting a real keyboard and expand it to real piano play...
or whatever i can make out of this...

try keyboard mania (for ps2) or its simulator, Doremi, for windows. they are pretty awesome, check some vids at youtube.
edit: forgot to mention that you can use your keyboard on them, though i don't know how it works, and the compatibility for it... yamaha should work fine i think...

Post above pretty much said what i was gonna say XD

About time the western gaming companies finally catching up with JP's music sim games tho =P There's already been a Keyboard Mania ,BeatMania ,Drummania and Guitarfreaks from Bemani (as well as a karaoke one which title escapes me XD)

While I applaud the efforts for Rockband it's pretty much the GF/DM link system with added Singstar/karaoke sim XD Not to say its not a bad game (I think its quite awesome actually But i dunno if i wanna fork out for the drum gig itself.. i prefer the DM setups XD Plus i'm a fan of GH ^^) It's just its been done already =P

I didn't really like Frets on Fire; it seems like you have to strum each note 100% accurate. Bollocks.
