View Full Version : Jack swears he'll get GTA IV release stopped if he's not removed from the game

The videogame industry's favourite attorney - one Jack Thompson - has forced himself into the headlines again today by claiming that Rockstar Games features him in its upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV – and he ain’t happy, reports GamePolitics.

Now, you'd think anyone would be thrilled at their inclusion in what is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2008, but not Thompson. He claims that a lawyer who is killed by in the first mission by Niko, the game’s protagonist, is he. The anti-hero pulls a gun on the lawyer who says, “that the firm supports the second amendment and that ‘Guns don’t kill people. Video games do.’”

Thompson has filed a document with the federal court in Florida in which he demands 'his removal' from the title or else he’ll do everything in his power to block the release of GTA IV.

"Now you have descended this low - using one of your games to threaten my physical safety… Failure to comply with the deadline… will result in my having to take necessary and proper means to stop release of the game which targets me personally," reads an extract of Thompson's complaint.

Something tells us that this isn’t the last we’ll hear of Mr. T in the run-up to the release of GTA IV.

Now the fans will want this game to come out more. So they can batter 'Jack' to death with a baseball bat, run him over and add a few airholes into his thick skull.

Draaaaaaaaama Queeeeeeeen! :p Rockstar got him by the balls in the previous legal action drama, and he somewhat "agreed" to back off. Seems like his crotch starts itching again. He's nothing more than an attention whore with delusion of grandeur. Just ignore him.

For crying out loud, someone send him to an asylum! The poor man's going crazy with his delusions!

...For a lawyer who writes like this...with ellipses on almost every end of sentences...he sure likes exaggerating his worth...I can't...understand the mind of...anyone who has time to take him seriously...

I hope they stick him in an airport bathroom next to Larry Craig on viagra :P Actually never got into the whole GTA games, but I did think Rockstar did a pretty sweet job on Bully.

He is totally senile and insane... though he says that he is mentally sane he is totally nuts. he has took his own concerns and ... convictions? to the public trying to sue whatever he sees.
he also tried to stop bully and almost all rockstar. I really hope he just shut up and let the game go. come on who will ever know that atorney you just killed is him? please we dont have that much free time to go investigate if it is him or not and threaten him in real life.
Now that I think about it. Its worst for him to do this scandal because until now I was ignorant we would be killing a guy who was his "digital representation" ingame, Now I know who I am killing and will enjoy it even more. Thanks jack! :) be seeing your head roll in the game :p

I can't wait to play this game. I hate that guy he doesn't want to allow games like Manhunt 2 and such to be released in the US. That guy seriously suck's I'd love to kill him in a game.

The makers should be having a nice laugh now. Thompson was being such a jackass that they just got pissed off and decided to put him in so that millions of people can kill him numerous ways.

This Jack Thopson should be ashamed of himself rather than pissed off if you ask me. His (pretty silly) actions have built up this reputation to him and he's just paying the price for it. He should just bear with it and let it go so that he is just forgotten. I mean, he isn't really that much worth our time. But since he is such a drama queen (ah, what we gain from the freedom of speech, ne  ), I doubt that he'll ever learn his lesson and get over his flawed ways of thinking. :p

BTW, I also wouldn't mind playing this game at all. :D

P.S.: "Jack Thompson: serious business" pretty much sums up the whole thing.

Oh man! This new "Kill Jack" feature is going to sell more copies and if it is profitable more games will make the same LOL. He should be fighting to get some money from his image now than banning games, and also be happy for being INfamous :D.

Is it just me or does it feel like Mr. Thompson is getting paid by Rockstar to do
these stunts? I certainly wouldn't be surprised...

Its just you.

He had a feud with Janet Reno that is quite similar with his actions against Rockstar.

That was a really clever move from the king of free publicity, Rockstar.
They knew, that if they referred, that good ol' jack, would be that certain lawyer, he would try and ban it too, thus causing a hell of a ruckus. Watch and learn, game industry.

I don't that he would be able to postpone this game even one minute. On the other it is the u.s....
