[MH] Touhou Project - Collection 2008

Howdy all!

It's finally time for me to release my next promised pack (if people were following my Melty Blood Re-ACT Final Tuned post).

This time, I made a custom installer for many Touhou Project games into 1 big DVD.

The games are, of course, all patched with their latest fixes and release.

This torrents currently has:
- Anex86 v2.78 PC98 emulator to run Touhou 1-5, preconfigured to display the characters properly with optimal emulator settings
- Touhou 6 - Embodiment of Scarlet Devil v1.02h
- Touhou 7 - Perfect Cherry Blossom v1.00b
- Touhou 7.5 - Immaterial and Missing Power v1.11
- Touhou 8 - Imperishable Night v1.00d
- Touhou 9 - Phantasmagoria of Flower View v1.00
- Touhou 9.5 - Shoot the Bullet v1.00a
- Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith v1.00a
- Touhou 10.5 - Scarlet Weather Rhapsody v1.01
- MegaMari - Marisa no Yabou v1.00
- PatchCon! Defend the Library! v1.00
- Super Marisa Land v1.11
- Super Marisa World v1.05

Inside the rar file you're downloading, you'll basically get a DVD image (cue and bin) to either mount and install or burn onto a physical disc, along with my custom made boxart for a DVD case and disc labels for either regular face or full face labels.

Please bare with me, as my upload speed is not the best there is. I will try my best to find ways to get this to you guys faster.

The full installation takes around 5GB of hard disk space, and it requires you to have the latest DirectX files installed.

It seems like you can't choose the directory to install it to, and the setup will automatically install it into the C: drive.

Which is bad for me, since I have no disk space on my C: drive.

CRC Error: The file "...night\thbmg.dat" doesn't match the file in the setup's cab...
Thats what I'm getting anyway(on Imperishable night).

Also you said you can patch the games on future, but that isn't true, as for patching you need the .txt that come on the cd.. (the ones with japanese name)

Are some of the games translated? I remember seeing a translation patch for one of the games but I haven't started my Tohou experience so I'm not sure which.

There is a patch file of th09. The file is for online battle with The Internet and a new system for randam-character-selector.

Note:An attached file is a non-official patch (made by ZUN). There is no support for a newest version.

im having trounle burning onto a disk so i cant really install it even if it on disk ... ive also useed daemon tools but it no work either any help pls

To jwright64:

I installed those games without burning. I suggest you burn programs after installing in your PC.

Causion:The titles require 3.41GB (I used 5.0GB) on C drive. Please have disk space enough.

There must be some reason that your PC doesn't work about making the DVD. I suggest you check a way to burning.

It's been reported by many that there seems to be a CRC error in the installer of this release. I myself haven't experienced it, but I would recommend just being patient for a bit longer, as I'm in the process of preparing a repack of the collection with newer updates patched, and including, of course, Touhou 11.

Touhou 11 Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, has been released since this collection was crafted from 24 caret win direct from the internet mines.

Touhou 12 has a demo out, but the exact date hasn't been set for the full version's release.

Considering the beauty of the music, I'd suggest a branch, the Touhou soundtrack collection. And considering the popularity of the music with a certain group, there's a huge collection of touhou DDR stepfiles, and at least passing mention to a Touhou Stepmania theme, If I could find one I'd work on setting up a preconfigured build.

Beyond this, The main things to consider are:

What else to add to the 2009 version depends mainly on what this is supposed to be.
For example, should spinoff games be limited to touhou characters, danmoku inspired by touhou, or both?
The 2008 collection is dangerously close to 4 gigs, anything bigger will cause complaints, and anyway, it would be better to split it into two images for those with the small 4.7 DVDs. Putting all the main games on one disk would leave plenty of space for goodies for the fans of vanilla touhou, like tourney replays, translation patches/manuals, newbie guides, maybe a few handpicked doujin. ;)
That would leave a second disk with all the spinoffs and fangames we can get our grubby hands on.
Bin/cue was a poor choice, they're virtually impossible to mount on linux, iso image is a must!
Can english patches be included as part of the installation? most patches make a seperate executable, which wouldn't make things too hard on those who prefer moonspeak. :D

My releases are basically personal projects that puts a little challenge to myself to create.

Basically, since I'm a computer techy type person, I like programming and troubleshooting computers at all times. Using my license of InstallShield, I spend my personal time into creating a custom installer on my favorite games to make it easier for me to manage these sort of things, and also to give the community an opportunity to enjoy these games altogether.

I am expecting a 2009 release, but I'll be waiting until Touhou 12 comes out before continuing with this project. The next collection will probably have the new games added up to 12, with if possible, Touhou Soccer added and a few more. English patches will not be included as often, the author of these patches do not want to see their work distributed with the full game to avoid problems with the authorities (what I'm doing here is considered illegal in some way...). Same thing for Stepmania, they do not want their software to be distributed with the stepfiles, so I won't be doing that either.

On the other hand, I've already finished compiling, testing, and packing my next release for another project. The torrent has already been created also, but I'll upload it online in the next few days just to finish my current torrent downloads so I can seed properly. It's yet another collection with another custom installer, so I hope you all will enjoy it. I'll be posting it into a new topic in the next few days!

CRC error is there for imperishable night. However I do not know if the game still functions correctly if you choose to ignore the error message (Seems like it only partially installs it since the installer seems to skip it?)

I think the torrent may be dead. But as I've said, the new release is out, with even more games included, but of course a larger download... You can find the link in the post above.

Uhm...ok, this is probly a pretty dumb question, but...I can't seem to install it. At all. Files that came with it are Labels (Box Art, 2 CD Variations), Readme (nice design by the way), the .bin and .cue files...and no .exe. Burning the whole thing to a DVD did nothing, and I don't think CDs hold that much...so my question is...how do I get this to install? X.x;
