Let's just say this game feels WEIRD.
It's funny how boring ass Guile can still play like Guile against people who can parry and have wacky engines, even without airblocks, and only his street fighter 2 moves (Wait, Guile NEVER got new moves. Ever. Flash kick and sonic boom. Hellllo variety?)
Anyway how are the sf2 guys supposed to win against someone from like...bloody darkstalkers?
Watching Guile vs Anarkis is enough to make one cry.
Warzard is hilarious trash.
The dinosaur is a riot, if only cause he's a HUGE FRIKKIN DINOSAUR.
Alpha seems well...a bit underpowered.
More likely it's the choice of characters they chose to represent Alpha. (I'm sorry Sakura! Maybe you're good, I haven't seen you play -_-)
Darkstalkers is cheeeese.
They obviously do less damage, but god they're really quite good, Anarkis and Jedah in paticular.
Ridiculously good set of normals, awesome zoning moves, super meter up the wazoo, these guys do really well.
Third strike well...I have yet to see a Chun Li match, so I can't say if her Super Art II is the gimp monster it was in 3s.
But Yun got his Gen'ei taken away so he should be less of a doofus now.
Urien was nerfed. =/
Alex is...well I never knew how to play Alex in the first place XD.

And that's it for now...

Ummmmmm........tested it too. Not very happy, it's so average. The whole system doesn't feel right or tight, & it's very unbalance. Gotta agree, Guile is roughly still the SAME character for over ten years, worst character ever (development-wise). This game is out there just to rake some hardcore gamers' money. I'll rather go back to my Street Fighter 3 now.

The only thing I don't like about these Capcom "compilation" fighters, is that people at Capcom got too lazy to draw new sprites for old characters. Morrigan looked horrible in "Capcom vs. SNK 2", and the DS cast don't look any better here either.

Anyhow, I'm more of a SNK fan, so I'm hoping good things out of the upcoming "NeoGeo Battle Coliseum".

SFII > Vampires < A3 < SFIII = Ingrid > Red Earth

Play it with a few friends for hours. After a while it grows to you, CFE Urien > 3s Urien
Mira over here in montreal got it like last week and I'm gonna go check it out

Hey look WHO's talking!

Anyway i'm not really liking this as well it just feels unrefined, out of place...more work could have been put into making the gameplay better...

whomever said CFJ Urien > 3s Urien is on crack. If you want to play the better versions of these characters, they all play alot better in their respective games.

CFJ sucks, even to the hardcores. But aside from all that...

orka what are you talking about. CvS2 had several redrawn characters, including basically all the SNK cast, plus medium attacks were newly drawn since they dont exist in SNK games. dunno what compilation youre talking about.

Eh? I'm pretty sure mars ppl and athena arent in NGBC...I havent seen them in any of the screen shots/website... and since the website has started to release other info other than characters and screens, it doesn't seem like other playable characters will be available. Of course this excludes those secret characters that SNK loves to put in... but for some reason I doubt Mars People/Athena will make an appearance.

Other than that I don't see what you mean by it being like SVC

Here's the character line-up (http://www.snkplaymore.jp/official/nbc/character/index.html) for NGBC... No Athena, but who can complain when there's Nakoruru and Hotaru Futaba? :D

I personally wasn't too thrilled with the job SNK did with SVC, though. The game could've (and should've) been so much better. The servers for Xbox Live are poorly set-up as well, as top ranking players are cheaters that constantly exploit the lag to do infinite supers. But I thought that it's pretty funny there's a stage called "Nude Place". @_@ ?

Need not despair, though. There are couple of other high-profile compilation fighters in works:

"Sammy vs. Capcom" by Arc Systemworks (plan announced last year, not sure if it's in works yet)
"Namco x Capcom" by Monolith (finalizing, screen shots available)
"Marvel vs EA" by Electronic Arts (bad idea?)

NGBC's lineup looks varied and interesting.

Putting Marco in it gives me hope that there may be a Metal Slug team in an upcoming KoF. I mean, they made Fio a striker in KoF2k, so...she might be on the Metal Slug team. I hope. D:

My problem with CFJ is that the whole game feels like a half-assed effort by Capcom to cash in on a "compilation" fighting game. Bleh. Yet waiting for Capcom to do something worthwhile seems like a futile venture. So...maybe CFJ is the beginning of the end.

The odds are that Capcom will no longer invest much effort in creating 2D fighting games, unless stated otherwise.

I think they are busy developing the newer Megaman X franchise, among couple of other things.

I don't think Capcom will abandon 2D fighters. Thats just not smart at all. Especially now that Sammy and SNK are finally getting recognized.

Either way if Capcoms gives up on 2D there will always be others.

orka: Good point. Mega Man is what makes Capcom mo it's worth before it gets stale and naught but the core audienceney, not Street Fighter. Though it is the Capcom Way(tm) to milk a franchise for everything remains. However, you can do a lot more with Mega Man than you can with Street Fighter. Just look at all the spinoffs. Legends, Battle Network, Command Mission, ...soccer.

And then there's Breath of Fire, which probably ended at 5 anyway. D:

well I hope they will continue to make streetfighter in 2d, though they really need to focus on their basics. another zero game would be nice.

capcom has done too much with the SF brand, too much spinoff games that weren't fighting games as for example puzzle games pachinco games etc etc. there is a streetfighter sidescrolling beat em up game starring ken made a long long time ago.

the death of 2d fighters made by capcom, maybe. But as long as there is guilty gear, 2d fighting games will stay alive

The last SF release was the ill-fated "Street Fighter III: EX" (released in 2001) in which Capcom desided to venture into the 3D arena. The game suffered from slow response and collision problems, and most consider it as a ultimate failure. Seeing that there have been no subsequent Street Fighter release since, we can assume the odds of a new sequel slim to none.

"Street Fighter III: Third Strike" (released in 1999) is considered as the last true SF game.

SF:EX3 isn't a bad fighting game, it actually is more true to the SF feel than SF3. There are no real collision detection problem and slow response, it all works nicely. They just forgot to put in some old characters such as Allen. and the endings could have been better, I remember ex2 having nice endings. the 3d series existed in the form of SF:EX, SF:EX@, SF:EX2, SF:EX3.

really, the 3d streetfighter series aren't all that bad. it certainly isn't an ultimate failure, as the game is a lot better than the 3d fatal fury game for the PSX.

Well, if you haven't noticed, almost nobody plays SF past Third Strike. All major fighting game tournaments use SFIII:3S for the Street Fighter division...

thats a bit unfair, considering that EX3 was a PS2 only game. I guess people only listen to hype as I don't find SF3 the best SF there is. And SF3TS is the last SF made, the crossover games don't count.

SF turbo is the best SF, no supers and good untainted fighting basics is the way to go.

Sidenote: SF3TS on the PS2 is the best version out there right now, as they have put back the unblockables that they removed from the other SF3TS incarnations.
