Desc: (Copy&pasted from AniDB)

Jin decided to use a piece of the sacred tree to carve a statue for his middle-school project and while moving it outside, it happens to touch the ground and transforms into a very cute girl. She is Nagi, a Shinto spirit, the guardian of the village and she is pissed that her sacred tree was cut down. Having no place to live, Nagi is forced to move in with Jin and tries to accept her new existence by taking out her anger in squashing bugs....er, cleaning the "Impurities".

Nagi has a rival in a little sister guardian deity, who lives in a shrine located on the other side of the river. Well, Zenga-chan has woken up too and decides to become a top teen-idol of the village, much to Nagi's dismay.

Based on (same-name) manga series authored and illustrated by TAKENASHI Eri, serialized in Comic REX.

Release notes:
This is not an original work by me [Syia], but a modified/enchanced work by your's truly. The base softsubs used are by Ayako's Kannagi release. These softsubs are also not officially endorsed or supported by Ayako or EnA (some translation are copied over.) Do not bug them about it.

Translation is adjusted and modified with EnA's Kannagi release where necessary. Ayako's translation are preserved where necessary. Additional translations were adjusted where necessary for better consistency.

These softsubs for Kannagi Anime series are re-timed for Shinsen-Raws release. These are for the 720P VFR[OPED30fps] raw video source encodes by Shinsen-Raws. There are actually multiple video source released, so make sure to grab the correct one, if not, you can always grab it from this torrent. They are currently the best video source at this time of release*. With that said, if you happen to have Shinsen-Raw's 720p release, you will be able to help seed, as they're exactly the same file and untouched.

*Update: A true HD source has become avaliable with the series being broadcasted on BS-j. Unfortunately, these subs are slightly not timed correctly with that [new] video source. Since I'm a fanatic about quality, I will eventually be switching over to that video source and re-time these subs for them. The filename will be preserved when Shinsen-Raws release them, which is labeled with BS-J. For the time being tho, I'll continue with the current raw source, since they're that many episodes ahead already.

These subs are not properly timed for any other DTV release, beside Shinsen-Raws, unless noted. Also, I'm not apart of Shinsen-subs or their divisions, as I have no affiliations with them.

*Extra Note: Since Shinsen-Raw's 720P has their release halted for the time being. I'm switching over to Zero-Raw's 720P release. Starting with episode 9 and up.

What's changed or added?
- Softsub Karaoke* --Basic Effects only. For obivous reasons.
- Multi-color dialogues. Casting characters has their own color variance.
- Additional minor footnotes added, if/whenever necessary.
- Improved Typesetting/Timing. //Double spacing sentence structure//
- Improved TL dialogue timing empathsis with dramatic/comedical scenes.
- Italized dialogues to empathsis for narration (thought spoken).
- Additional QC on translation consistency. //ensuring things said make sense afterwords//
- Minor typos / spelling correction and adjustions, if any. *

*Special thanks to Jon//Nami for helping me spot them.

*OP/ED Karaoke & TL are done by SHiN-gz & Genjo-Subs. They did a 'perfect' job timing it.

The Misc Extras:
The Music Video and Full OP Single are provided by QTS.
Full Karaoke OP Music Video provided by SHiN-gx & Genjo-Subs. Helping them spread their wonderful work. Including it in this batch torrent, since the goal and idea is for archiving.
Full OP and ED Single provided by [LonE].

Other notes:
The 'CALISTx' font files are the default style from Ayako's release. Typesetting style has been adjusted as necessary. If the fonts are not displaying properly (check screencap to compare), either install them into your 'windows/fonts' folder or where your font is stored for your operating system, or transcode/remux and add them into an MKV container* (alot of work.)

*You won't be able to help seed the torrent and will require to bypass download of the previous episodes in any future batch release by me.

Use the latest CCCP [http://www.cccp-project.net/] or Mplayer for full compatibility playback.

_______________IMPORTANT PLAYBACK INFORMATION_______________
================================================== ========
How to get the Karaoke/SSA|ASS tags to work properly under Media Player Classic:
__________________________________________________ ___________

- If you are using VMR7 or VMR9 (renderless) output mode. Make sure to go the 'Subtitles' tab in MPC Options and set 'Number of subpictures to buffer ahead: 0'

- If you are using Overlay Mixer, VMR7 or VMR9 (windowed) mode. Open up DirectVobSub (green arrow on taskbar), go to 'Misc' tab and uncheck 'Pre-buffer subpictures'

Save changes, exit, and reload the video file. It should start working now.

If you are experience slow playback, or audio out of sync, etc. Then you have a crappy PC that can't even handle simple karaoke effects. Get an upgrade already. =_=;
================================================== ========
_______________INFORMATION FOR MPLAYER USERS_______________

- While most of the tags and functions will work properly, they will most likely not be displayed properly or not display as intended.

- These softsubs were ment to be watch on Media Player Classic, after all.

Thanks for the release, but something just caught my attention...

Flammable definition:

-Catches on fire easily and burns rapidly.

Inflammable definition

Lol, yeah. Missed that. Actually my head may had corrected it, but my hands didn't. Should've used Non-flammable. I don't think it warrants a v2 to correct that, tho.

Episode 2 - 6 will be ready later today. Still doing some adjustments to episode 2 and 5.

Edit: Actually, I'll release a v2 sub file only. It'll easily correct that without having to redownload a whole new video file.

Shouldn't have missed that if you were using EnA's to adjust it though. ;)

Appreciate the higher quality. Will probably wait for all the BS-J releases to archive.

I haven't download the torrent but since 04-07 have "Shinsen-Raws" attached on it and not "Syi", are those episodes raw or subbed.

I too would like the BS-J release for archive, when can it be expected? Just asking, thanks.

syia
11-19-2008, 06:30 PM
They're raw and externally subbed. The reason why they're in the batch is because I'm keeping up with the episodes that are already ahead.

BS-J are 4 episodes behind. So when ever the regular broadcast of the series is over, there is going to be another month's wait for BS-J to finish up.

First off thanks for the work :D

I have only one question. You said "If you are experience slow playback, or audio out of sync, etc. Then you have a crappy PC that can't even handle simple karaoke effects. Get an upgrade already. =_=;"

Duude.....what kind of monster PC do you HAVE? I'm running a dual-core 2.97 Mghz, 1024 MB DDR2 with a Radeon X1650 series, CoreAVC + CCCP with MPCHC and I STILL get a slowdown during the opening. I'm guessing you don't so I'm just curios, what do you use?

syia
11-29-2008, 02:43 AM
I don't even have a "monster" PC. Believe it or not, you don't really need an all powerful-rig to get "basic" karaoke to playback smoothly. Because my CoreDuo 2.4Ghz system can playback these karaoke effects easily while even having a game running in the background.

From the spec you've outlined, your PC should be more than capable of handling simple karaoke effects and even playing 1080P H.264 videos. However, what I'm thinking is your system may still be lacking RAM. Depending on your operating system, 1GB isn't really enough anymore now-a-days. Especially if you happen to be running Vista. RAMs are quite dirt cheap now, so it doesn't hurt to spend a few $$$ for a RAM upgrade.

There's also the high possibility that your playback settings is not properly configured.

While you may have CoeAVC installed, what version btw? 1.7 Pro? -Make sure it is actually enabled. If it is, and you're still having slow playback issues. Ensure that you don't have too many random codecs install on your system.

The only thing I got installed on my system as far as codecs goes is CCCP+CoreAVC v1.7.

Click on the link, if you see the frog, move your cursor to address bar and add a " " (space) at the end and hit enter to load the image. Have to do it that way since imagehack banned hongfire.com for hot-imaging.

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6582/coreavcenabled1oc5.jpg

Link above is to show you that CoreAVC is actually enabled. If you don't have yours enabled, make sure to have H.264 disabled in FFDshow as shown in the image.

Thanks for you answer. Belive it or not, I'm very knolagable (can't spell this word :D ) when it comes to video/audio files. I know all about dissabling fdd's h264 decored and enabling CoreAVC. I have 1.7 installed, along with the latest CCCP. These are the only codecs I have. There is no reason it should slow down during the karaoke, especially since it's a freaking {/k} template, VERY basic. Yet it does, and I have no clue why. I can watch 1080p without much problems, so this is really wierd.

Well, it dosen't really matter, cause I'll be getting your release anyway. The quality is much to good to dwell on little stuff like the OP. Hell, I'll probably figure it out soon anway. Again, thank you for your work on Kannagi.

Edit: First off....why the heck is Kannagi written in red? Second, after trying, and failing to enable DXVA on my PC, I learned that using VRM7 Renderless will fix the slowdown. Wierd.

Sigh. If you want the answer, read my first post. So, I'll pretend I didn't read that above questions. *Activating Ignore Mode* :st:

-just a rant-
If you 'people' aren't going to bother to read my release notes that might've contained the answer to the question which you may have thought on, and still continued to ask about it. Then, if you're going to ignore what I've typed in my release notes, I'm going to simply return the favor and ignore your questions! ^_^ Yay! So if you're wondering why I've not bothered to answer your questions. It's maybe... because... it has already been answered?! : D

All I ask is, if I've taken the time up to typed up the release notes and info(s), at least return some respect by reading it damnit!
-end rant-

So.

In other news... episode 10 is going to take a while for release. Don't expect it to be out anytime soon. This episode has... a bit more work to do than normal. As it involves in a hanful of karaoke segments. Doing karaoke is very time consuming. This also means, expect episode 10 to use a bit more cpu power for karaoke playback than the other previous episodes. Hopefully, you'll appreciate and enjoy the end product once I'm done, tho. :D

Edit: for the response below. So it is too much to expect you to read for the answer in my first post, even more sad. Especially still expecting for a polite answer after disregarding and disrespecting me by not reading my release note post. Very sad.

Well, I'm just glad Kannagi is done. Ayako did a great job translating the whole series, but not so great in the quality department as 400p doesn't quite cut it these days.

I'll be waiting anxiously for your final batch syia, thanks a lot for your work, good luck and hope everything comes out great ^_^.

I appreciate the work you're doing, and I'm happy to see someone quality-obsessed like me.
I especially like the thought put into the layout of the OP/ED Karaoke and the grammar corrections/color coding for character speech; not to mention the BS-J source episodes are amazing.
Everyone please remember to seed this excellent release. Keep it up and がんばってね~☆

I've been watching your release ever since you started and after a long while of no news or updates, I'm afraid to ask but is this project considered dropped?

syia

Project has not been dropped, just on hold. Complete batch will be release when it's ready. There's only episode 12 and 13 left for me to finish up.

Hi there, i came across this wonderful project while i was looking for high quality kannagi episodes to download. Take your time and do your best! I will be waiting for the release :D

I have a question though. Forgive me if this has been posted, but i wanted to know if the episodes that you will release in the final batch, are the earlier episodes the same? Like episodes 1-9 in the old batch vs 1-9 in the final batch. If the ones in the final batch are higher quality, i'll wait till then to download. Because sadly, there are very few seeders and peers for the current batch eps 1-9 :/ Hopefully there will be much more seeders when the final batch is released :D

Have a nice day!

edit* another question, will all of the releases be 720p? thanks

edit2 * please seed T__T there's only like 2 seeders. thanks so much~

You're not the only one.
Can't blame it on syi, probably just got too busy or something.

Most people have already forgotten about it, perhaps by the time it's actually released, if ever, I'll still get it if I manage to grab it on TT.
