    ~ Bayonetta~
    ~ Platinum ~
    ~ Release Date: 2009 Oct Earliest ~
    ~ ESBR: M ~
    ~ Genre: Hack n' Slash~
    ~ Consoles: PS3/Xbox360

Authors note: Well here's Bayonetta, a more mainstream tittle compared to my last review lol. As usual hope you enjoy reading and rep if you like. If i made any mistakes feel free to point it out and ill fix them.

As usual with PS3 games, the pictures are linked directly to HF gallery, where you can see them in full resolution.

Are you a male aged 13 to 16? do you feel a constant state of arousal due to overdose of hormones? Well then this game is certainly not gonna help you solve those issues...

Bayonetta, a DMC style game developed by Platinum games (With the director of DMC1) and Team Little Angel (Which is the same Team Little Devil that did the original DMC game). One might call it a DMC clone, but in all fairness it beats DMC4 to a dust ball and doesn't even let it get up, basically it is a game that fixed all the issues DMC4 had, and added more stuff on top of that.

    [Review] Project Diva 1st/2nd/Extend

    ~ Project Diva 1st/2nd/Extend ~
    ~ Sega ~
    ~ Release Date: 2009-2011 ~
    ~ Age Rating: All ~
    ~ Genre: Rhythm Game ~

Authors note: So this time it's 3 in 1 review, since its kinda pointless to review one of these games and not do the others. As usual please enjoy reading and correct me if i made some errors. Rep if you like it ^^.

So what is Project Diva, it is a rhythm based game where you need to click notes in timing with the music and get the best score, the western equivalent of this would be Rockband, althought the game game mechanics are probably closer to Osu! than any Rockband. Either way this will narrow down the game for quite a bit of players, since definitely not everyone can enjoy something like that, and the game is anime of course, since its a japanese game after all, honestly though, if you dont like anime and live in Japan you are pretty much fucked aren't you, because 95% of of the stuff that comes out there is in some shape or form related to anime.

For those who don't happen to know what Rockband or Osu! is, which is doubtful in this day of age, but still, here's a simple gameplay video illustration since its a lot simpler to explain it this way ^^.

A small note on the English patches, as far as i know partial translations are available for all 3 games, the amount of translation will vary though. However if you don't want to mess around with the ISO to get the translation in, the user interface is pretty simple and you can get your way around without any Japanese at all.

Graphics: The graphics are great for the PSP, sure it isnt quite HD graphics so to say, but so much as this little hand held goes, its designed great. The character models are well done, and the animations are brilliant, the motion capture was done very wholeheartedly and each song has a very varying form from guitar play, to dances, to the characters actually doing stuff in the stage.

The PV designs are amazing too, each stage is different and creative, and doesnt always stick to simply something as boring as a concert stage, as i mentioned above, some take the characters to a whole journey. Really the quality of the clips is really high and are way on par with actual music clips.

The graphics are further improved in dreamy theater, which i will be mentioning briefly later, but it is a add-on for the PS3 that allows you to play all the stuff in pretty and fancy graphics, which look somewhat better of course, but even on the PSP it looks nice. Now all they need to do is release a new game on the psp vita that has PS3 graphics on a handheld >.>

Sound and Music: Well surprise surprise this is very well done, naw setting the stupid sarcasm aside, the musical score in this game is very solid, with extend probably featuring a list with the most songs that i love, but its a matter of taste. But the variaty is good, you can find rock, pop, techno, slow songs, cheerful songs, stupid songs, all of it is there.

Normally i would review the voice cast, but not sure how i would review vocaloids xD for robots they are amazing, heck in some songs yeah you can tell that she isnt human, but in some it is honestly impossible to distinguish anymore.

Controls:Not really much to review here, the controls are as responsive as your psp buttons allow it, since some songs depend on you mashing like your life depends on it. The only thing i would have preferred is if the double notes were simply cursor key notes, but cant have everything lol.

The game it self and it's functions: Now for the game it self, it is actually really good , asuming you like this type of games of course, the characters are the famous Vocaloid's with Miku Hatsune driving the most of the show. And well if you dont know who that is, what are you doing in an anime forum anyway? There is no real story or anything behind it, you just have a bunch of songs on various difficulties and you go nuts by mashing your psp buttons so hard that your fingers get sore (and i'm not even joking, they will get sore if you play some songs for a while). Thank god at least sony learned how to make controllers that don't break, if i did played this on the old ps2 controllers i would have probably mashed the buttons right through the plastic by now.

The characters include Miku Hatsune, Kagamime Rin and Len, Megurine Luka, Kaito, Meiko, Neru, Haku, Sakine Meiko, the first game had less than this, but they were later on released as a DLC, and the last 3 characters are purely cosmetic, they do not have any songs of their own. (No it isn't a type, Meiko and Sakine Meiko are different characters, i guess they just ran out of names lol)

The difficulty curve is VERY well done, and provides a good curve from anything to a total newbie to such games to masters of rhythm gaming. There are 4 difficulty modes (3 in the 1st game), Easy which is basically for people who have the rhythm of a duckbill platypus or never held a controler in their lives, actually even easier than that, i gave it to my sister to try, and she never plays games and she still managed to clear a 2 star easy, it also uses only the circle button so no key switching. Normal mode which is for your every day casual gamer, they are pretty easy to pass and a lot will probably find them a bit too easy, this already incorportes 2 buttons instead of one, sadly you have to pass all the normal modes first, which in most cases is ok, but if you aren't new to the series, it can be a bit annoying to have to do that till you get to the chalenging stuff. Hard mode is where stuff finally starts to get down, you finally go into using all 4 buttons for the clicks and the difficulty jumps up somewhat from normal, infact there are 1 or 2 songs on hard that i find chalenging even. And then there is Expert aka you gotta be effin kidding me mode. There are no changes control wise from hard, its just the difficulty that sky rockets.

Which brings me to having to say that they did go a bit overboard with the expert difficulty in the 2nd, specifically with "Hatsune Miku no Gekishou" song, which has its own difficulty rating being beyond the typical 9 star maximum. Ill post a video just below in the spoiler tags so you can see how insane it is. It is doable, but certainly not for everyone, skip to 1:40 for the full out fun.

    Spoiler

And of course pics or gtfo that i did it lol.

Character customization, aka costumes (or modules as they are called in the game for some odd reason) is quite prominant in the game, increasing slowly with each release, the extend versions features 80 costumes for Miku, 17 for Rin, 13 for Len, 17 for Luka, 13 for Kaito, 14 for Meiko, 4 for Neru and Haku and 5 for Sakine Meiko. So the list is quite impressive and the costumes are cute and well thought out.

Costume show case (yes yes i did include all the girl swimsuit versions lol):

    Spoiler

There is a section for the rooms of the Diva's, where you can see them doing random stuff, change the styles of the rooms and decorate them, also you can give them gifts and if they like them they will place it by them selves. Also they have moods, which are affected by how much you play them and if you give them gifts. However all of this, while a nice touch, is completely optional, there is no difference gameplay wise if the character you are playing is happy or not, or their room is decorated or not.

    Spoiler

Lol this is a funny one when i was taking screenshots, its not a glitch, she simply rolled out of her bed, fell down and continued sleeping... wtf Miku?

There is also another option for creating your own songs, which is quite a solid editor, however i cannot give a lot of explanation for it, since even on my translated 2nd version of the game, the editor is mostly untranslated, but it does have options such as lipsyncing. In general it seems like a great feature, however it doesnt seem to be used that much odly, at least with an editor like this you would expect the net to be full of fan made songs, but odly enough it's not, there is a couple here and there, but not much. If anyone could shed some more light on this, i will update the review.

Next thing that should be noted is the Dreamy Theater, this is bas...

    Atelier rorona review

Developer: Gust Publisher: NIS America Genre: Role Playing Game Platform: Playstation 3 Have you heard of the developer Gust? Yes? Congratulations you’re officially hardcore. The Atelier series was incredibly popular in Japan from its inception on the Playstation but only got a west release with the Iris trilogy on the PS2. Still it never sold the amount it deserved, instead another RPG about an effeminate orphan who saves the world sold like gangbusters. T Real nice to know where you put your money guys. Atelier Rorona is the first Atelier game on the PS3 and the first game that Gust has developed in 3D. Is it a bitter disappointment or a jewel sparkling in the ferment? ...

[Review] The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword (Wii)

The legend of Zelda; this single title means a lot for the millions of players over the world for many reasons. Probably one of the reasons is because Link, Zelda and Ganondorf have been there when we touched our first controller and it's part of our gaming memories. So this time we have a new game in its 25th anniversary, and it's one of those games of the year, even when is similar to previous games is still unique and very special. Let's find it out why.

At the very beginning The story begins with Zelda sending a letter to a boy called Link. Is she asking for being rescued? Or saying that her kingdom is in danger? Not this time, she just wants to wake up her childhood friend to spend some time together. This time Link and Zelda are two friends from a village that floats in the sky and they like to go out flying in giant birds. But one day a twister swallows Zelda to the world below. The unknow...

Touhou Sky Arena ~ Review ~

    Game : Touhou Sky Arena

    Developer : area-zero

    Publisher : area-zero

Language : Japanese ( No known English patch )

    Platform : Windows 2000 / XP / Vista / Windows 7

    Requirements : Intel Core2Duo @ 2.00GHz, GeForce 8800 (VRAM512MB)

    Rating : 6/10

    In a few words.... :

Touhou Sky Arena is a 3D style flying fighter game by the makers of Magical Battle Arena ( AKA : area-zero ) This game is mainly like the Touhou Fighting Games, just that the exception that the Touhou characters are flying and the battle is in 3D.

Gameplay : This game's in Japanese, so for those who have difficulty understanding Japanese, I do have to admit that randomly pressing keys is only going to get you halfway through the game. Honestly. I have to admit playing the wole story mode made my hands ache like crazy. Some features is the Q button, which locks on to your enemy target, plus a few other confusing combinations of keys to get your spell cards / climax attacks / high tension attacks working quickly. Each character has different spell cards / melee / climax attacks. Your enemy lo...

    The 3rd Birthday - Parasite Eve ~ Review ~

    Name : The 3rd Birthday - Parasite Eve -

    Developer : HexaDrive

    Publisher : Square Enix

    Platform : PSP ( PlayStation Portable )

    Rating : 8/10

In a few words ... : Basically, this game is actually a Third-Person Shooter Game. ( Or Over-the-shoulder ). In this game, you're controlling the character named Aya Brea, a member of the CTI ( Counter Twisted Investigation ). She's a short haired blonde and I'm telling you she's quite cool, I have to admit. In this game you're going to be fighting weird creatures called the Twisted. Throughout this game, you'll be embarking on different missions of " overdiving " to the past so as to change certain events, thus altering the timeline and some things won't happen. You'll have difficulty modes : Easy, Normal, Hard and Genocide ( or Deadly mode. ) You have tons of unloackables in this game, which would motivate you t...

    The Qwaser of Stigmata review

"Breast milk as a plot device, genius"

Fanservice has always been a plight on anime, quite allot of the time there is some form of it in anime whether it’s straight out bare breasts or panty shots. We already have quite a few stereotypes attached to the anime viewer which only is correct for a small percentage of said crowd. Whether it’s that all Anime is for kids, or all anime is porn. There is always something that the stubborn “Westerner” must brand us with. Qwaser isn’t going to win any awards any time soon, nor is it going to help rid the stereotypes of the Anime fan. However Qwaser is… Well, read for yourself.

    Skyrim Review

    ~ Skyrim ~
    ~ Bethesda ~
    ~ Age Rating: 16-18 ~
    ~ Genre: Sandbox RPG ~
    ~ PC/PS3/Xbox 360 ~

Holy Shit, what is this, polished in gods very flame. Do my eyes, tell me lies, a new elder scrolls game.

Authors note: So Skyrim Skyrim, the game that has been pretty much named the game of the year even before it's release, and while i absolutely love this game and sank more hours of my life during last week into it than id like to admit, lets see how this game stands up against a bit of nit picking.

This will contain some spoilers, but every spoiler i will put in spoiler tags and note what the spoiler is related to, so you can take note of what you want to be spoilered and what not. Also this review will probably feature more of a play through style review as obviously i am no where close to have finished the game 100%, in fact I'm at 10% at best since the game is beyond massive. But i do have two characters, both 45+ so i think i will be able to make a fair assessment.

Also bare in mind, that even with all the things i point out here that are bad or whatever, they do not actually reduce all that much from the fun factor, and if you like games like this you will love it.

Also if you like my reviews, rep me or click the thanks button under the post ^^

Im gonna skip the short graphics/sound/controls part this time, as i covered the details pretty well early on, just skip down to each section.

    Release dates:
    • November 11, 2011 ~ USA/EUROPE
    • December 8, 2011 ~ JP

Platform: XBLA(reviewed), Arcade, PC As anyone who is aware of my gaming habits would know I love bullet hell games. Danmaku shooters as they are sometimes called are very popular in Japan and especially in the doujin market. You’re standard danmaku game is all about dodging bullets and shooting down your foes. You’re probably wondering what the main difference between this and standard 2D shoot em ups. Well it’s all in the name, “Bullet hell” yeah. The most popular danmaku series is the Touhou project. Despite its popularity it hasn’t ever became commercialised, mainly because Zun the man behind wants all the money himself. He says he just doe...

The Japanese entertainment industry has a very powerful tool in everyone of its fronts: women. Indeed we can say that this is not exclusive to Japan but is probably a country where female idols are a phenomenon and it doesn’t matter if they are singers, actresses or just models.

In this case is where we have our beloved and well known Japanese idols and more often than rarely cute and sexy gravure models take a step forward and become AV actresses. So thanks to a new case in this matter (that I’ll announce at the end) I’m gonna talk about a few of these girls.

    Arisa Oda

The first woman that came to my mind when I was remembering girls. In 2004 Arisa Oda made her debut as gravure idol, made the typical sexy shots and even played as a character
