  • [Skin] Female face retouching (update 2016/11/12)

    This game surprised me with its realistic shadow and lighting, but the texture looks like games from decades ago. So here's my fix. The texture is filtered in 16 bit and dithered back to 8 bit, then saved in uncompressed DDS. The results are quite good, I think.

    Add 4K specular map and normal map (2016/9/25), they are created from photos.
    More details when taking a close look.

    2016/10/22 update

    Move details on the face normal maps to the detail normal map, reduce the file size, and bumpiness can be adjusted in SB3U.
    The presets in game will look a little bit too shiny this time, so you may need to adjust the skin shining intensity and softness.

    Wow, that does look better! Thanks for this! Btw, have you or anyone else looked into the issues involving some of the skin textures being combined with each other? The issue is most prevalent when using [Type] Skin Pattern 03; especially visible on the upper back... looks pretty bad.
    Almost as if everything is misaligned, but either way, the weird muscled upper back is the worst of it.

    Plus, high skin shine intensity settings create this dirty, grimy look to the body. Of course, this is most noticeable in h-scenes or outside of character creation.

      Do you mean the shadow does not match the mesh?

      It's not a shadow; that's the actual skin texture of Skin Pattern 03 under the 'Type' category of character creation. I suppose you could say it doesn't match the mesh, but like I said, it seems misaligned.

          plasticmind, thanks for sharing! can't bear those blocky skin!

          I'm getting blocks at the neck but the face is perfect. I don't see any problem in your sample screenshots, any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm using Pattern 01 and replaced cf_m_face_00 and cf_t_face_00 with yours.

            The space is inserted only into what is shown but not in the link when you click on it.

            Mega shows the "Enter decryption key - The provided key is invalid." message to me as well.

          plasticmind, can you release an alternative version with a cleaned up ARGB32 version of the original specular map instead of a using a completely different one?

          This one is better than your previous one but it's still far too flat overall, particularly on the lips which lose most of their glossyness, and not as cute as the highlights on the original. A number of presets aiming for anime-like cuteness or otherwise pretty & young shiny/glossy skin, look wrong and unrecoverable with both of your specular maps. Every other change you've made is fine though, and a good improvement.

            The lips look better than the 2016/10/8 version and not too bad in terms of overall balance, though still only has less than 25% of the shimmer & gloss intensity on the cheeks/nose/lips/chin compared to the original.

            I ended up messing around with that one a bit in photoshop, and created a hybrid of sorts with highlights close to the original. I think it came out nicely, if anyone wants it:

            Maybe they could have textures with the quality and appearance similar approach to Skyrim's HQ textures like "Fair Skin" version 7.2 + 7.3 update (more Anime look) and recent Japnese"Girl of the innocence", I meant the original Honey Select textures but appearing with clean that approach even close-up FOV30, yet defined and not too dull, especially on lips and eyes, to make a feeling of lively and youthful beauty, not a mask of greasepaint, with tons of foundation cream

            In my game the lips are not seen so detailed and lives, in this screens they seem organic and not flat and matte textures look

            I also see banding "square pixels" effect on my game on the first floors, while in your screens seems absent..?
