  • [Unsolved] My IP adress got blacklisted and I don't know why...?

    Dear HF staff,

Ever since about 3 days ago trying to log into the site nets a message that my adress has been blacklisted and more info may be in the server log. (I'm logged in via proxy right now)
I'm not aware of any rule breaking activity of mine that'd cause an IP-ban and since my account is still functional, this seems not to be caused by my forum behaviour.

So I'd like to know what caused this and if I can do anything to be granted normal access to the forum from my PC again.

    Kind regards
    JAHT

Mind you that "mere" mods may not have access to your IP and related bans which could clue them in on why the IP has possibly been banned by whomever... and that could just be from an admin or higher (not quite sure who now actually owns the server on which the website runs on).

Naming your ISP and approx location might help a lot if you are comfortable with sharing them, from an incident now long past and any logs now gone (forum is no more, Skype goes maybe 2 years back at best while it is now the dawn of discord), I experienced a case as a community moderator where we banned someone based on IP (we had that right but I know from several others that they don't) who was apparently trying to circumvent their suspension/ban. However it turned out that an ISP somewhere (rather not telling the approx continent and be honest about just recalling it being somewhere around there) assigned one IP to a large area, explaining why there were also many other users and their registration logged with that IP, obviously we unbanned them.

In light of the still ongoing spam, the above may serve as explanation considering that someone could even decide to carpet bomb/block areas or even countries where those attacks come from (blocking single IPs should be obviously always be fine still but more would be bad business though HF is no business anyway so...)
I am a cream whip, nothing more and nothing less.
Oh, and I am a cream whip that made a List of CM3D2 Mods [Always WIP and totally NSFW], mind you.

At the moment, mods do not have the power to IP block, and I believe the current blocking scheme is strictly on username basis as I keep seeing the same spam IPs over and over again.

A couple of my IPs have been blocked as well, but having a VPN allows access of tens of thousands of IPs lol.

lol, same with me, IP at work place is blocked, but not the one at home.

Well, I don't know why but it looks I can log in normaly again, so I'm setting this to "solved" for now.

How does it look with you other guys?

Edit: Or at least I tried to. I'm getting an "401 - Unauthorized" error when trying to edit the first post... (._. )?

So other people are getting this too? This should have been brought to attention a while ago. This might have helped prevent this from happening to others.

Did you try using a different web browser?
            Or flush your DNS cache.
            1. Hold down the Windows key
              and press R.
            2. Type cmd and press Enter.
            3. In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

Same had happened to me. I could visit as a guest but trying to login: BAM.

That was until about 4 days ago. Looks better now.

Flushing dns is only a temporary fix, and after doing it 3 times today I've been repeatedly re-blacklisted? Can anyone tell me whether this is a forumwide issue or it's personal? I don't see any messages informing me of this other than login failures.

Could someone explain why my laptop is repeatedly blacklisted while the phone it's tethered through can access without obstruction? Ie my laptop compromised in some way that you are aware of but I'm not?

I couldn't log in myself, it just gives me the same message.

                    Then I disabled my uBlock.

                    edit:
Nope, still getting the "address is blacklisted" error after a while.

Still getting these problems for months now. Is there no way around this ? I' m having difficulties trying to post a comment. Keep getting a message of "error_x_saving_content". If I try to view the replies I get something like"404 Unable to contact server". If I log-out and try to re-log I get a message "Address is blacklisted" for some reason.

This is the only forums website I' m experiencing problems

Today seems to be my lucky day. Not experiencing problems for now but it will come back later so I' m posting these problems of mine while I still have the chance
