    ehh... the title is missleading... that isn't a BSOD.

    and it's not MS's fault - they didn't code that video-application ^^


    same can happen on every OS if there is a error in the app

        BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death, issued by the NT kernel when an uncoverable error happens. These may happen due to a bug in the NT kernel, executive, or device drivers (most likely device drivers), not in applications or libraries like DirectShow codecs or the like.
