A lovely piece of sensationalism full of judgmentalism. I quit watching when the narrator started whining about his personal experiences with overtime, which have nothing to do with anything. Note that internal sources have their own potential biases and aren't necessarily any more accurate then external ones, so sticking with one and ignoring the other completely is sort of, er, biased. As is judging a foreign culture by your cultural standards. Anyway, I'm not really seeing the head of a corporation committing suicide over a scandal as some sort of dark side thing. Especially when you compare it to the high teen suicide rates in Japan, which IS a big problem. Does that get mentioned anywhere?

Personally, the best look at Japan's dark side I've ever watched was the docudrama, Bounce, Kogals, which gives you a hard look at the ugly side of the back alley sex trade. I recommend it, if you can find a copy.

I am going to watch this before I go to sleep and I will put a edit with comments.

You should check out the documentary: "Tokyo Girls" (topdocumentaryfilms.com, search tokyo girls): its about some weird sexuality stuff but its interesting
There is one about the forest of suicide there too but I forgot what it is called. "Suicide Forest in Japan 2012"
also "Saving 10,000" was good, that one made me worry about myself and the Otaku community in general... because we all kind of share those traits.

"No Sex Please, Were Japanese" basically explains Okatu culture and its relationship to strange childish behavior. It is from a feminine perspective, but it is still relevant.

The one that tripped me out bad was "Princes of the Yen 2014"... yeah. Watch that one for sure... just a crazy story about modern western style economies from the Japanese perspective.

Sometimes I forget that Japan was (and is still, kinda) one of the most prideful countries and cultures of all time... and the US nuked them... twice.

Also, there is a really good one that broke me and changed my perspective on the future and the way I view Chinese youth and students (I know we are talking about Japanese but this is good documentary film): called "Education Education"
Check these out if you are tired of TV's fantasies, they are all viewable for free on topdocumentaryfilms.com
