    [hongfire forum] Is it possible to change displayed date format?

    MM-DD-YYYY is not good, since every brain human with that understand components order of changing randomly idea not bright is.

    So question is, is it possible to change mm-dd-yyyy to natural yyyy-mm-dd(yyyy年mm月dd日 is fine too!) or at least dd-mm-yyyy?

    I don't know any way to change the current format into another one. But I guess that when you say "natural" is natural for you. I'm not gonna say which one is better, cause I don't care either (honestly, the Japan one is cool). But for example I'm used to the DD/MM/YY, but any other format lets me sleep at night, so don't bother that much about that insignificant matter.

    it would be nice if there was a way to change it, though its not really that important since we can all have our heads around the idea quite easily. It just a matter getting used to. Like typing on a keyboard =P

    I thought MM-DD-YY was standard for any country but those that insist on using that screwed up metric system. I really don't see what is so hard about the concept of MM-DD-YY. For example anytime you ask a person in the US at least when they where born they will say October 1,1968 in my case. So it is the same as it is written. Why is that so hard to grasp? You are simply writing it the way you would normally say it.

    Since hongfire is hosted and run by USA admins it is their normal format and we just have to live with it, no big deal.
    BUT FYI:

    Middle endian forms, starting with the month

    This sequence is used only in the United States and a few other countries.

    * Sunday, November 16, 2003
    * November 16, 2003
    * Nov. 16, 2003
    * 11/16/2003, 11-16-2003, 11.16.2003 or 11.16.03

    Most of the world thinks of 9-11 as the ninth day of november, and be totally surprised when its remembered on 9th of september in the USA

    edit: hehehe, you see, 11th of september

    Actually, a lot of us United Statesians would also be totally surprised to discover the eleventh of September was observed on the ninth of September. <grin>

    And yeah, that format is found most commonly in the USA. But, since this is where HongFire is based, there isn't much to be done about it except cope. And don't worry about those Americans who have this idea that only the American way is the right way. They embarrass the rest of us, but we have to respect their rights to free speech and to make fools of themselves. Not all of us think that way by any means.

    I'm sorry to ruin your conception of the world but there's a lot of people who
    don't have English as their first language. And pretty much every country in the
    world except for the USA uses "that screwed up metric system". Hopefully you
    were just being ironic.

    Well all I have to say is like most websites, they fall under the law of the country their server is in. What is even better is that all users who are on that site are considered tourist of that country and must abide by that countries laws and standards. Therefore all you whinners are SOL. While your on Hongfire your date format will be the US format as that is the country the server is in. Live with it or pipe down.
