It looks absolutely remarkable; yet i'm interested to see if the mechanics will be near as interesting as the ones employed by the 3d action gaming greats.
Ok so the new FM will come around (Edit: thanks forBlazing Phoenix because i misread lol) Fall 2010 in NA.
Personally i'm kinda bumped since they make it more like Armored Core.
I'm not sure yet the result tho so my finger is crossed.
Prefer it to be strategy than action but oh well what can I say now

When Front Mission first came out in 1995, it is all as we know and love today: the strategy RPG based in an alternate reality with realistic and global elements. Then in 1996, Squaresoft came out with Front Mission: Gun Hazard, which was a sidescrolling shooter similar to Metroid, which is obviously a far cry from the original SRPG. After that, Front Mission 2, Front Mission: Alternative, Front Mission 3, Front Mission 4, Front Mission 5, and Front Mission Online all came out to continue the original Front Mission storyline.
I figured it was only a matter of time before they came out with something unrelated, similar to Gun Hazard but for the new generation of gamers.

I'm actually pretty happy about this, they stopped releasing Front Mission in the UK after number 3 and I don't have any chipped consoles for the American imports so I've been left in a lurch since then at least with the PS3 I can order it over and play the game here.
Did you know, there are three kinds of aces? Those who seek strength, those who live for pride, and those who can read the tide of battle...those are the three.
yep same here, only played the American Versions, till FM4, FM5 its only for Japan, dunno why they did that![]()
.
anyway i have beat all the armored cores and the arenas on them, and all AC are the same, they dont change, even the mech sets and parts dont, im quite reluctant dunno how will the game turn out. as an strategy game it was superb, as a mech action game i dont know, i dont see much future, even if it has a lot of customizing and other stuff.
besides the fact that you could force Wanzers pilots to surrender and steal their wanzers was great, dont know how they will do that, but i might be wrong, after all Fallout 3 was made like Oblivion and was good, it does not have all that nostalgia that brings the turn based Fallout 2 and 1 that i still play and like, but was good, maybe this FM would be good, i hope.
There is a group that completely translated Front Mission 5, you can visit their website here: http://www.frontmission.info
They are currently translating Front Mission: Alternative, which also never got a NA/EU localization, which is very exciting for us Front Mission fans. I tested out their FM5 patch and the translations are really top-notch. To play it, you need to buy a Japanese copy of Front Mission 5, rip it to your computer, apply the translation patch to the DVD image, then burn it. You can play it on a modded PS2 or a Japanese PS2 if you have one. It also works on PS2 emulators like PCSX2 (which I tested it on) but there are a lot of unresolved graphics issues, so you're better off just playing it on an actual PS2 if you have one.

I'm actually surprised at just how unpopular these games are in areas like Europe and America, you'd think giant robots in general is enough to whet any good mech fans appetite but they never seem to get approved over the region when theres clearly a niche market for such things. However as Blazing said about being let down I figure this is a big reason as to why anyone maybe put of by the brand.
Armored Core For Answer was one of them games. Glad I bought it in a new years sale for half price but looking back on it even now thats too much for what it was.
Front Mission 3 was one of my favorite games, but Front Mission 4 wasn't well received in EU/NA because they initially didn't release Front Mission 1 and 2 until very recently on the Game Boy, and never released Front Mission: Alternative. Front Mission 3 sold well in EU/NA, but it was considered the "black sheep" of the series by older fans, focusing more on gimmicky combat mechanics rather than the story itself, while FM4 was seen by older fans as a return to the roots.
However, since FM3 was the only EU/NA release of the Front Mission series, all the EU/NA fans consequently had expectations for game similar to FM3, but were let down by FM4. I think this was a big blunder for early Squaresoft and Square Enix, and also the main reason why Front Mission 5 never saw an EU/NA release.
And yes, strategy RPGs are quickly becoming a thing of the past, which is unfortunate because Final Fantasy Tactics and the Front Mission games are some of my favorite games.
