Playing HGames in Windows 7
I apologize if this is the wrong forum, I'm not sure what the right one would be. I just wanted to ask those who have already installed Windows 7 and played HGames a question. I intend on installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in the next couple weeks. I wanted to know, though, in order to change the language settings to Japanese do you need to install a Multilanguage version of windows? or is there a special pack you must download and install? or best of all, is it all part of the basic installation?
Thanks to anyone able to help me out
PS. feel free to move this thread if there is a better location for this question

I just installed W7 today and the language packs weren't on the disc, they were from
Windows update, you get to choose what packs you want.

Also, you don't need language packs to change your regional settings/locale. They're mainly needed to change the entire Windows interface to that language. Japanese fonts are preinstalled, just change the settings and you're ready to go.

Windows 7 change some things concerning the language.
Only the Ultimate Versions can change the language, the rest like Professional or Home don't even have the option in the region settings anymore.
Though you can change languages later on every Version with the MS Language Pack CD, though it isn't available for free (Unless you are a MSDN(-AA) user)
But as sailabc1 said, the fonts are preinstalled in every version.
So using the applocale way for playing games should be fine anyway.

............ FINE, THAT DOES IT. No 64 bit for me this time, after all all those people complaining about eroge in many threads all have Vista/7 x64. Better next time in Win8, I'll stick to 32bit for a few more years. At least it's gonna ensure best compatibility.

My experiences with vista 64bit has been pleasant to say the least, zero issues from using 64bit, every problem are font/language/locale based.

No, recently a couple of mainstream games also used to give problems on x64 (namely Batman AA) when PhysX was enabled, even though they've been fixed now. I've been in a dilemma for a while, I think unless the same DVD comes with both x86 and x64 versions, I'll go for 32 bit...
PS. The lol is that the group that released the pirated version of Batman AA released a x64 compatible fix faster than the developers could release an update for that same issue

If you buy the retail edition you'll get both x86 and x64, if you go OEM though only one will be available. As for mainstream games, well, the problem there is PhysX, not 64bit, in all honesty. No one really cares enough about PhysX, a closed source nVidia toy soon to have patents expired. Until Lucid's Hydra platform becomes more mainstream, I don't see that changing.
