    [KEY/Visual Art's] Clannad + Voice patch

    Official Clannad website: http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/product/clannad/index.htm
    Developer's website: http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/

    From the creators of Kanon and AIR comes Clannad, another heart warming visual novel. The game was released in 1st quarter 2004.

    Language: Japanese

    Important installation notes:

    In the torrent is a compressed .rar file containing the DVD in .cdi format. You will need WinRAR to extract the files and then use an Image mounting software like Daemon tools to play.

    If the game does not install or run, please change your 'Language for non-Unicode programmes' to Japanese, then reinstall and run again.

    Downloading notes:

    Total swarm speed at 1st day of upload: 800 ~ 900 KB/s
    Total swarm speed after 2 1/2 days of upload: 200 ~ 300 KB/s

    Seeder will seed for 3 days and stop for half a day, in this cycle until less then 8 peers.

    Torrent size is 1.34 GB. Extracted size is 2.21 GB. Make sure to have ~3.5 Gb when downloading. Installation will also take up an additional 2 ~ 3 GB.

    NOTE: Please read the posts to find out more about the nature of the game and any questions you may want to ask.
    NOTE: (4th June) Seeder is not seeding this game file anymore. Its been 3 months since I released this torrent (have deleted it due to lack of requests at that time) and I am now only seeding the torrent below.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    4th June
    Now with voice patch!

    Size of voice patch = 1.06GB

    For those without the PS2 version and the proper tools, I have created a simplified voice patch with the help of tools from people at Haeleth (for the RLDev) and some mystery guy who created the website (http://www.geocities.com/sleephook/clannad/index.en.htm).

    Please read the 'README!' in the torrent. Very important in helping you get the patch to work.

    I tested the patch on a fresh install of Clannad and there seems to be no problems. Remember to backup your savefiles as they may not be compatible. PLease also check that your computer is set to Japanese locale.

    ++++++++++++++EDIT++++++++++++++++++++++++

    The game is japanese, w/o voice
    The voice patch adds voice to the game
    The english patch is a translation to english

    All the patches are safe to use, if you follow the instructions.
    Don't forget to set the language for non-unicode programs to japanese.
    (Start->Control Panel->Regional and Language Options->Advanced tab)
    You have to, I repeat, have to set it to japanese or it won't work.

    Clannad is not voiced, right?
    Is there any hope for voice pack, like for Kanon and Air? (BTW, are voice packs official or fan made?)

    Clannad is not voiced... so don't be fooled by the big filesize.

    Voice packs are 'ripped' by fans from the console version of the games. (So it isn't an official patch)

    There may be a voice pack when Clannad PS2 is released sometime in 2006. Hope some fans find a way to patch the game.

    Err... It is more of a visual novel, and the stories are quite inter-related (One character's story can cross into another). Depending on what choices you make during the course of the game, it will take you through the story of different characters... most are heartwarming endings with 'emotional rollercoasters' during the course of the game. Hope you get what I mean.

    KEY is good at making people cry.

    I would classify KEY's works as visual novels as there isn't any in-depth dating systems.

    I like dating sims very romantic with plenty interaction with the girls and romantic dialogues. Is Clannad like this?

    Or is Clannad just a Visual Novel, where do we just accompany the history and does make some few choices of dialogues in elapsing of the game, and do those choices influence in the end of the game?

    Can we do date with the girls, for example, do we interact with them in many dialogues and a lot of options of choices of new dialogues, or are the choices very little and do we hardly need to make decisions, do we only need to accompany the history?

    I hope you get to understand what am saying, for example, I hated the game Pia carrot 3. If that game goes similar to him (that is a visual novel) I am out of it. I lovedd Tokimeki Memorial and Thousand Arms (the part of RPG of Thousand Arms is boring, but the dating simulation part it is excellent! I love dating sims!)

    I bought the game recently and this game is so far alot more content then i could have imagined and thats only the first half. So far all happy endings and very good even the guy's story. without hentai hurrah

    As far as choices there is alot but only a few very important ones as far as I know. But u will have to read quite a bit sometimes which is not a pain for me. Its not like the usual stuff ur used to, it not like u pick a girl and keep hitting on them but more like u at school without the boring class. Make friends and start a club or something and start a relationship from there. Some characters need u to be close to few other characters to get to the ending. Some events will change dramatically or give u more choices when u are aquainted with more people. As far as conversations get alot more chances to say stuff and usually funny while pia carrot lets u say only at key times.
    in short theres alot of choices but the story is quite long so u might be reading alot,

    It was a great buy at least for me, alot of characters to chose and very nice story which I sacraficed my finals for.
    pros: Good CG's and music and content is very very big, I havent finished the first half after 10 characters. The game is very wide and deep if u know what i mean. definately worth your time. Also without the story destoying hentai stuff.
    cons: I sacraficed my final exam, my favorite character yukine only has 3 CG's for some odd reason while others have tons more. No voice, the message skip has the usual problems with remembering but not that annnoying. Because I bought the game istead of downloading I cant help u on seeding.

    @kenshinchong: Clannad's not a dating sim. It's a visual novel (like Planetarian, cept that the latter's special since you make no choices). The term's kinda incorrectly used, since you don't actually simulate a date anywhere, since there's so little involvement. A dating sim requires dating to be central to gameplay a la Tokimeki Memorial

    and....um....just to clarify,voice packs aren't "official" at all (while the voices, INTACT, to be used in the re-released PS2 version only, are), if they have to be ripped ^^;
    You're not supposed to do that kind of thing (goes against the End-User License Agreement), but Japanese VN companies tend not to chase after people who do so, since it sorta enhances their games "sell-ability"

    Then Clannad's not the game for you. Heck, Key never made a dating sim before. They've always done Visual Novels, pure and simple. Sure, you've got plenty of interaction, but not on the scale of Tokimeki Memorial (and no, there's no stat building here either ^^;)

    It's largely story driven, so if you don't like interactive novels, you're out.
