[New Version 01/24/10] Westside CDs [Rip Tools for Hentai Games & PS/PS2/PS3/DS]

--This pack does not contain HCG packs, there are only rip tools!--

    --
Important Note: I will try to be objective as possible, because of my limited knowledge of English Grammar.

Alternative Guide: I recommend reading pcicp's rip guide too for more detailed knowledge.

    New Version!!! [01/24/10]
    1. CD 82.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
----VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - READ IT BEFORE ANYTHING!!!---------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

We have, until now, 82 CDs here.. which may represent some 70000 executable files. Specially if you use AV with high heuristics detection (or something like 'detect suspicious malware') you may encounter false alarm files (or false positives if you prefer). note that this is the real world, you cant simple run an anti-virus and be ABSOLUTE sure the file is safe or not.

In other words, what i am trying to say is this: There is too much exec. files, tons of different anti-virus products and even more distinctive results.

I'm familiar with the rule #8 of hongfire's torrent rule.
"Rule #8: As a standard, all materials that you want to share in hf should be in high quality."
and i can guarantee i will ALWAYS scan the cd before uploading here.. however, what i can't guarantee is that any of this files will trigger an false alarm (remember, this tools are for decompressing and, sometimes, even decrypting files), if you can't live with that, then perhaps you can't use this sets of tools.

the line here that separates real threats and false ones is thin.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------------END OF NOTE------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

This Pack consists of Westside CDs from 1 to 82, Covering H-games, PS1, PS2, PS3 and DS from ~1994 to 2009. The interest on this is because of the newly h-games rips it provides, in opposite to those Susie/Grapholic plug-ins, who are almost never updated.

But.. since the rip tools from this pack are not organized by Company, i will propose methods to find the right plug-in to rip the game you want.

Method 1: Gameutility DB by Westside
Advantages: Very easy to use; can be organized in many ways (company, name of the game, etc)
Disadvantages: Covers new games (CDS ~39 to 82); for the oldest ones (1992~1994) its best to use the 2nd method.

    • First, Download here (Note: everytime it's announced a new cd, they release a new version of this DB. it's the first link on the page)
    • If you don't use Windows in Japanese mode, you will have to use Applocale (Microsoft Program to read non-unicode applications) download it here or here
    • Then, you can search for the game name (japanese!) or the company name (sometimes japanese). Therefore, Getchu links will be of great value, since it can give those information.
When you find the tool, look at the first column and you will know in which CD he is.

    Old Images:
    Image of Gameutility before 2.0
Image of the new Gameutility DB (v2)

    Note P: CG100% = Save Data
Those with BMP or PNG on it = actually the rip tools
    HP,MP... = Save editor (I suppose)

    New Image:
    http://xs232.xs.to/xs232/08422/newgdb198.jpg

    Method 2: Google and Getchu
Advantages: the two best Databases for Hentai-games..
Disadvantages: More hand-work than method 1; can be inaccurate.

Note: I strongly recommend to try CGDreamland (LINK), Crass, FireEmblem, ExtractData and asmodean's tools (see Final Notes for links) first.
    • Image 1 -> find the name of the game [Getchu recommended].
    • Image 2 -> use google to search for nameofthegame lzh westside.
    • Then, if you got luck, you will find the CD and possibly the name of the tool. From this, proceed by seaching in the CD for it.

    Final Notes
Asmodean's cmd rip tools: pcicp contribution. very good tools! Link temporary link
Note: You may need some library files. Link

    pcicp blog: pcicp rip blog!
Note: pcicp is updating it very quickly, its the best source of finding the right rips for new games now.

    Crass blog: crass blog!

    JimBond007 Guide: JimBond007 contribution. LINK

DDL Links + DDL Torrent for CDs: As it painfully keeps harder and harder to seed the old cds, once again a JimBond007 contribution. LINK
The 'rip only' version is much smaller than its original. Instead of asking for 1 rip tool, why not test the whole cd and maybe found out more useful tools?
Yet, as Jimbond007 has said: "However, if you have a problem with a RIP Tool or for ripping a game, you can always ask our help."

HCG Converter: GameutilityDB helps identify games ripped by the -free- HCG Conv. just type 'Hcgconv' (without quotation marks) in the 'plug-in proprieties' field. Here you will find HCG Converter.

Updates/Rip tools: Westsite releases free updates for some of those plug-ins. Here you will find it..
Note: the updates can be acquired in the CDs too.

Rip tools: You can always try to use an rip tool of a game to another (even newer) by the same company. sometimes it will work...

Applocale: use it for GameutilityDB and for the rip tools. Occasionally, it won't be able to rip the archive because it can't read kanjis. (This apply only if you are not using Japanese Windows [See 'Windows' note for instructions] )

DLL missing for Susie plug-ins: This apply only if you use cgdreamworld, FireEmblem (Susie plugins). You will have to go to the developer page, for then find the dll he used! (just read the txt which come with the plug-in to find the author's name/page).

BPSP: BPSP is a batch pack. covering BP 1~5, who was already a batch of older cds. In other words, nothing new here as everything there is in westside cd 1~62. Its just easier to find the tools with him.

    SandBoxie: Nice program.. LINK

35 infected files: (This info was for the old infected torrent) strangely, BPSP has the same infected files. i didnt test them. if you read cappiz post and thought it was 70 infected files, F-secure reports the lzh AND the exe as infected, which makes 2:1 ratio.

*ExtractData: Excellent tool. Better than DataExtractor and Neko57 in my opinion. Link
*** ExtractData is no longer in development, 1.20 is the last version.
    *** Links:
    *** Japanese version
    *** Translated version

Windows: I recommend to always use ExtractData/DataExtractor (any tool that are not westside made or susie)while your windows is in japanese language.

ExtractData: If the archive of the game has any file in kanji text (like ブリ.tlg) , and you're not in japanese, the tool WON'T rip (it will report that it didn't find anything).

HCGConv: The same goes for HCG converter, but in his case, it will report an error.
Note: sometimes you need to set the windows to "full" japanese (IOW set Standards and Formats and Location to Japanese)

Alicesoft and PMS Files: Alicesoft games can use .pms files and, oddly, the rip tool from westside won't work. For this you gonna have to use a susie plug-in (see attach for the plugin itself and the plugin for acdsee [acdsee can read susie plug-in with this])
Note 1: from the game i tested, the pms files were battle images (like "critical hit!", "Combo" and stuff)
Note 2: the plugin for acdsee has to go to this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ACD Systems\PlugIns2\
(The name 'Program Files' can change depending on your windows native language)

Grapholic Translated: ffv translated Grapholic to english, but recently he deleted/lost his old page. I would attach the Translated version here, but its too big.

Having trouble to rip some game?: check out pcicp's "My CG Rip Tool" -LINK-

jsnut rip guide: A Susie/Grapholic 'Knowhow'. LINK

When everything Fails..: You've tried westside, susie, extractdata.. and it didn't work. two scenarios are possible (theoretically):

I coudn't extract any image: if the game is new (1 year most), there are still chances that westside *might* release a tool for it (but the chances decresces exponentially as times pass). In that case, you may need to screencap the cg. (of course, its best to test everything you can before screencap. if you have a game, say, from tinkerbell and the plug-in you thought it would work but it didn't, try other plug-ins for tinkerbell too)

Of course you have to give westside some time too. Normally, it takes 45 days to westside make the tool, release the cd and then you can grab it from here.

A Suggestion of what you should try:
    1. Westside [Gameutility db / HTML ] tools from the game company (or known extension)
    2. ExtractData [Enable XOR decryption -LINK- (*Link fixed by pcicp*)]
Note: "Crass has support of Kirikiri system, better than ExtractData in handling Kirikiri, you know XOR calculation is working for Kirikiri, but ExtractData's decryption is a little simple... crass use Kirikiri plug-in - kirikiri2 cui and provide 9 decryption parameter" pcicp message.
if you manage to learn how to use crass, it can be a very powerful tool.
    3. Hcg Converter
    4. Read pcicp's blog to see if he didn't find a tool for it
    5. asmodean's cmd rip tools
    6. Crass
    7. Susie (Grapholic)

!!UPDATE!!: 痴汉公贼 finally broke war extension (WARC from 1.2-1.6). You can read more about it (..that is, if you know chinese). If you want to know the version of any *.war file just open it in a Hex editor.

I could extract but the images were all fuzzy and/or the image was decomposed (IOW face separated from the body, the image is without a background image, etc): If the image is fuzzy it means bad ripping. Likely, the rip tool you've used won't work for this game.

If the image is decomposed, it means the company made the images like that. Studio Ego, Atelier Kaguya (Berkshire Yorkshire), Windmill, Selen (and others) occasionally (i didn't say always) uses that and makes ripping very difficult. In that case, you can
-> try using PicComposite/ImageMagick (see pcicp's guide for technical info)
-> try muxing them with BMP Mixer (Link)
-> try muxing them with Photoshop or any image editor
    -> screencap.

for screencap you will need an image captor and a save file.
Save files: sagaoz is your friend
Note 1: if you don't know which kanji you must go, use the status bar of your browser. Go with the pointer of the mouse on the kanji and read the link in the status bar to know what it is (e.g: 07ki, 35mo [the numbers are not important, the letters are our interest])
Note 2: You can use google. google the name of the game plus sagaoz name (e.g: オシオキSweetieファンディスク- sagaoz)

Image Cap: Hypersnap or Snag it are good options.

    Special thanks goes to..:
    • JimBond007 for providing the links and asking Atachi for a sticky.
    • Atachi for sticking it
    • cappiz for the scan and warning of the files!
    • pcicp for kanji names and excellent tools/guides.

CDs 1~62 are uncompressed and contains only the rip tools, CD 63/64/BPSP/65/66/67/69/70/71/72/73/74/75/76/77/78/79/80/81/82 are full bin/cue and 68 is ccd/img.

    CD 82:
    DDL CD82 (Full disk)

If you can buy the cds from westside, please do it. they need your support!

O_o really a good post. I'll ask to mod to keep this thread in a "Sticky thread" but in hcg torrent section :^) (b/c it's a torrent). This thread coupled with jsnut's thread will give us two excellent/powerful threads for ripping cgs. Just hope they'll accept my request :^)

It seems you have forgotten to add CD59-62 list :
    http://www.westside.co.jp/otacd/59/new.htm
    http://www.westside.co.jp/otacd/60/new.htm
    http://www.westside.co.jp/otacd/61/new.htm
    http://www.westside.co.jp/otacd/62/new.htm
    CD63 list here :
    http://www.westside.co.jp/otacd/63/new.htm

    ---------------------------
These lists are very useful :
For instance, I tried with Cartagra by Innocent Grey.

Of course, you need to know "a little" japanese.
1/ First, search the official game/getchu link of "what you want to rip".
Cartagra by Innocent Grey : http://www.gungnir.co.jp/innocentgre...gra/index.html

2/ Copy the title game in JAPANESE.
Cartagra's title name in Katakana : カルタグラ

3/ Do a google with the name of the game in JAPANESE with keywords : TitleGame westside. For a best result : TitleGame lzh westside.
    My example : カルタグラ westside

    4/ I found that on google : http://www.westside.co.jp/download/s...3/cartagre.htm
All informations are in this page :
    Program Rip File Name : cartagre.lzh on CD56 (お楽しみCD56)
    Use Google Japan : http://www.google.co.jp/intl/ja/

5/ Take a look and open the list (included on |[Pennywise]|'s torrent). It's a .htm file.
    For Cartagra, it's CD56.

6/ Search the game of what you want (with ctrl + F).
My game is Cartagra : カルタグラ

    7/ I found two programs rip aorinncv.lzh and cartagre.lzh.
The firt one is HCGs/CG program rip (It rips too sound/BGM/Voices in .ogg O_o) and the second one is 100% HCGs.

    ---------------------------
If you can't read japanese, you can always try to search in romanji on google but it's not sure that it'll find a westside link...
If you know the westside CD and romaji of the game, you could search (ctrl + F) with romaji.
With Cartagra romanji title, you'll never find anything because the program rip is called cartagre.lzh (engrish maybe ?_?), then try with a short title with "car" or "carta".

    I hope it'll help you :^)

Damn i feel really bad to hear that. Could you gently tell me some of the files which was detected, so i can test it? Everything i have used until now was clean. I suppose its exes out of the lzh files, but i never saw them.

One thing i forgot to enlighten is that this pack wasn't done by me, i grabbed in Share.

For security reason, i suggest always test the files with an online scan like this one. (i will attach this info into the 1st post if in fact there are malwares)..

and thanks for the pages JimBond007, i will attach them too later on
