This sounds very cool! I'll give it a try.

Hi
I don't play anime games very often, and when I do I like to be able to read the text in a language I can understand. So I spent a little time developing a new tool for translating Japanese to English realtime in Anime games.
You can download the tool from the link below.
Yes, I know that there are already some fine tools that do this, like Oh Text Hooker etc, but I've never been able to use them since I cannot install Asian language support in my Windows. Anyway, it turns out that Asian support isn't really needed for some games, and I also wanted to see the English text in the actual game, not in some external window.
So, since I wanted to play my Complets! games this way, I created Online Anime Game Translator.
You'll need the ATLAS or SYSTRAN product for translation - or alternatively let the tool use Google internet translation pages.
Please take it for a spin if you are interested. Make sure to read the ReadMe.txt file first.
Mind you - I don't have many Anime games to test with. The tool is only tested with a few games so far. This means that it may not work with your favourite game - but if it does, let me know.
regards,

Very interesting. Would be much better then having translator and game in windows. Thats the main reason i dont use those translators actually.
If this would be working in any game, it would be a very handy tool. Keep it up![]()
Tested with a few more games. Added a feature to allow text to be printed on a floating layer, since in some games it would intercept the text but would not display it correctly.
BTW, you can download a 30-day trail-version of the ATLAS product to use as a translation engine (a link can be found in the readme file). ATLAS will expire, but continues to work in OAGT, since the ATLAS developers forgot to check for a license in the component used by OAGT. OAGT doesn't use the weird clipboard stuff like Oh Text Hooker etc.

Does this work with Atlas v13? I only see the Atlas v12 option. I tried this on the new Rance game, and it doesn't seem to work. I don't know... Maybe I didn't set something right. Maybe someone else has better luck?
Yes, it works with Atlas v13 too - nevermind the text says v12 only.
In general to create a new profile, I do:
1) Enable the View -> View Log from the menu.
2) Start the game, play a bit.
3) Create a new profile in OAGT. Enter a name, pick a window caption.
4) Create a text area. Pick a rectangle that frames the main game text (usually bottom of the screen). Pick a nice font in the Font in the dialog. Leave everything else as is.
5) Back in the main Profile view, pick the TextOutA metod.
6) Test the profile with a Capture and while playing the game a bit. If you see entries in the log area, like "Translating..." stuff, when you play the game then it's picking up text.
7) Try with ExtTextOutA, DrawTextA and others if 6) didn't succeed.
8) Modify the text area in the profile with check in "Use Relative Coordinates" if 7) didn't succeed, then repeat 5) to 7)
9) If you see Japanese text captured in the log view, but not on the screen, try the "Print in own layer" checkbox in the text area settings.
10) Finally, if things work and you didn't need the Relative Coordinates or Layer option, make a text area for menus and other stuff.

Trying it with Lovers... Doesn't say anything about translating... I've filled the text box from black edge to black edge (The text area.)
Doesn't say anything about translating
If this text hooker is a text capture from an image only surely it should theoretically work for every game unless the text is completely warped?
You might want to provide a link to a seeded torrent for me, if you want me to investigate it.
The tools works much the same way as the other tools, AGTH and Text Hooker. It does not actually do image recognition if that's what you're hinting. And like with these other tools, not all games are compatible. However, if you can get results with these tools, you'll most likely get a some result with this tool as well. The difference is that it tries to display the text in the actual game.If this text hooker is a text capture from an image only surely it should theoretically work for every game unless the text is completely warped?

Ah right. Misread the thing then.
Lover sunfortunately does not work for others so that'll be a no go
That last torrent for it died a long time ago I think
Ah, it works! I'm glad, even though the translations are somewhat disjointed this is to be expected. Thank you for the tool bvi22.
