Well if you're looking for an opinion on the game than heres one......no sarcasm implied, legit shit this time, no jokes....ok here goes:
ZZzzzZzzzzzzZZZZzzzZzzzzzzZZZZzzzZzzzzzzZZZZzzzZzz zzzzZZ.....ZZzzzZzzzzzzZZ

alright, well I played it for a while, and if you're a huge fan of the series you're pretty much guaranteed to like it. As for the battle system, anytime you encounter a monster (which is quite often when roaming) there'll be a screen swipe and you'll battle the monster TRADITIONAL style, with you taking a turn to attack than the monster(s). This can be enhanced with a party, but the battle system remains the same.
As for the actual doing stuff rather than fighting...its pretty standard among RPG's, but FF-XI will be alittle more tedious. Since the monster encounters will be at random and the whole screen swipe and battle system doesn't make everything quick. You still go out and do your standard bring me X amount of this and kill X amount of these things. or FIND THIS or RETURN THAT and the ever so favourite TALK TO HIM/HER.
As an MMORPG final fantasy-xi falls short of what a true RPG should be IMO, but with 3 expansion packs the world speaks differently, there is however a large community online, not as vast as like lets say EVERQUESTS or WOW's but big enough to meet new friends and to enjoy it without annoying children or hackers.
Overrall, I would play it again, if it didn't have a monthly fee or if they fix the battle system to match that of FF-XII. Even than, I'm still at bay with the whole concept of an FF MMORPG, because to me FF should be an rpg, not an mmorpg.
